Just back from our BEST STAY EVER at the POLYNESIAN!! **ADDING PICS NOW!**

Loved the pics...I have stayed at the poly 5 times (but not since 2003). Now that I bought into DVC, I doubt I will be staying there again. I will just have to stop by for a meal.:)

I have a unique Dole Whip story that happened last week while I was getting a late night beverage. We had just got done from doing a late night at Epcot and I needed a beer and knew the lounge was closed. My wife and kids went on ahead to the room and I went to Captain Cooks. I was standing in line waiting to pay and was kind of watching the lady take apart and clean the Dole Whip machine. I don't think she knew what she was doing and my suspicion was confirmed. She had most of the machine apart and put a small bucket in from of the valves. I could barley understand her language because she had a thick Jamaican accent. She yelled to start with the water and that's when disaster struck.

Within a minute the entire left over contents along with a mixture of water, started pouring into the small bucket and quickly over filled onto the floor with a loud plop. It went everywhere and I mean everywhere! The Jamaican woman was yelling for help in broken english, our cashier tried to help out, then some worker came running from the back and slipped and fell when she ran into the mixture. For like 10 minutes it was complete chaos. A worker came rushing with a bucket and mop, then decided he wasn't equipped enough or didn't want to deal with it and just disappeared. They were throwing towels down right and left and it was a miracle no one was hurt. They actually had to push the sticky mixture with a squeegee into the back work area. When I got back to the room with my semi cold beer, my wife wondered why it took so long. Every time I hear the word, Dole whip, I'll remember what happened.

Wow, Eddie, that's some story! I think I would've thought I was on Candid Camera or something if I witnessed that. lol :scared1: lol

Hi Sea Spray!

We just got back from the Polynesian on Wednesday. Sorry our paths did not cross, but glad you had a happy anniversary trip!

I'm with you that the Polynesian never looked better - and your wonderful photos prove it. My kids were teasing me for taking so many pictures with my new camera. I can't wait to tell them that you took 10 times as many photos in half as many days at the resort! I got the most grief when I started taking pictures of the food we ate.

We had breakfast at Kona Cafe on our check-out day. Macadamia Pineapple pancakes - Mmmmm! Mmmmm!

Wish we had plans to go back to the Polynesian already as you do!

Between DH and I we took too many pictures! LOL We love looking at them but it's overwhelming to decide which ones to put on my web site, and so far, I haven't done any. :confused3 I know what you mean about taking pictures of the food, but now I'm used to the strange looks!

Those pineapple macadamia pancakes are my favorite! :thumbsup2

Thanks again for getting me to look at your trip report instead of working! Just kidding.... love to lurk, but the pix are awesome. Anyone else going down around Turkey Day?

Hey just don't get in trouble at work! LOL :surfweb: The company I work for has a computer with internet access in our kitchen, so I ONLY go online from there, while on break and lunch. Otherwise, I'd be in trouble. lol Have a great time at the Polynesian in November!! :sunny:

I went to the Polynesian for breakfast last May when I was staying at POR, and I have to say, I really was happy to be there, even just for one meal. :)

Thank you so much for responsing to my question and giving me the link to here. I'm enjoying looking at your pictures and am super-excited for our trip now.

I thought I was bad for taking so many food pictures, but is this actually a picture of a person taking a picture of french toast? lol

Seaspray, just saw the new page added today to your web page regarding the tiki party. The pictures looked great! :rolleyes1 , and another wonderful job of narrating them.

Thanks, it was fun time, for sure! :sunny:

Too funny. That is one well documented breakfast plate. It has it's own paparazzi! Thanks again for posting such wonderful accounts of your trip. When my mom found out we were staying at the poly, she decided that she and my dad needed to join us. I'm going to send her the link to your photos to seal the deal (we have a 2 year old so it will be VERY nice to have grammy and grampy and their 4 additional hands along with us). I noticed you were from MA...where abouts? We live in Danvers.

I am just getting started on your thread!!! I love all the pictures and am getting even more excited about my upcoming Disneymoon at the Poly!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Hey, you were there when we were. Was that Wed/Thurs night by any chance? I had my first dole whip on Wed afternoon during our break but that night it was "broken" and then again on Thurs...I was driving my dh crazy<G>

I love all your pics. I really tried to take pics of our food, but my dh was halfway into his plate by the time I had my camera out. The only food pic I was able to get was our anniversary dessert at Kona Cafe just before he put a spoon into it:rotfl:

I've bookmarked your trip report, just to take myself back to our trip and we just got back last night. Miss my dole whips.

THe kids tried one from Captain Cook's and loved it! I had a little taste and it was just as good as those in MK. The only complaint was the small cup that they were given--it didn't hold enough! :rotfl:

When I bought my first cup, the lady at the register must have noticed my sad face at the small cup because she said, "I don't care how much you fit in that cup, just as long as you don't spill it." hmmmm, going back to my days of waitressing...I can swirl a dole whip almost enough to fill my refill cup:goodvibes In fact, as my dh watched me, he wanted to hand me my cup:rotfl: On our last day, there was a lady who had 2 drink cups that she was filling...so can you pay for the bigger cup and fill it OR did she buy 2 drinks and then filled it with dole whip?

Terry--

That Tonga toast looks omygoshdelish! Is it stuffed with some kind of filling, or is it just one hunkanhunka humongo bread??? I just may have to pull the recipe off the internet (BTW--did you know there are a couple of websites where you can get the actual recipes for just about every dish Disney serves???)

We're near Bridgewater :) I hope all of your family has a wonderful trip!

Thanks. I'm sure we will. I know Bridgewater very well. I did my undergrad at BSC. I also taught 2nd grade in Brockton for 2 years and lived in Randolph at the time.

It's stuffed with fresh banana and it's really good!! :)

What a small world, my DS19 is going to BSC, it's a nice campus and just a stone's throw from where we live. We don't live in the exact town Bridgewater, but we're in one of the Bridgewaters, if that makes sense. lol Ah Randolph, they have the best movie theater there, and some of our favorite restaurants! lol :3dglasses

I never did make it over to Captain Cooks for a Dole Whip on this trip, but I definitely will next time!!! I'd love to see how high someone could swirl that cup full of Dole Whip. LOL

does any body have any pictures of christmas decorations at the poly? we are going the week after thanksgiving and would like to know if they get down like the parks do. thanks

Also scroll down here...
