Just back from our BEST STAY EVER at the POLYNESIAN!! **ADDING PICS NOW!**

Hi Aaron!!!! :wave2: It was SOOOO nice to meet you, your DW, and your beautiful DD, on this trip. I really wish we would've had a lot more time to just sit, chat, and talk about how much we love the Polynesian. :cool2: LOL!! I do hope we're able to meet again during another visit. How about next May?? LOL We're considering going back to WDW with John's aunt who hasn't been there in 20 years, in early May. We're not positive of the dates yet, but we've been there in early May a few times now and the weather has always been great, and the crowds very manageable. :)

I will definitely share a picture of our Tiki Room drummer when it arrives! On our last day (Monday), we went to the Tiki Room specifically to see where the drummer appears in the show. There are a few of them along the ceiling in the show, and they light up and drum during certain portions of the show. Here's a picture of him(them) in action, inside the Tiki Room (it's one of the drummers that you can see from the side, they're all identical, and it's exactly what ours looks like):

DSC02438.jpg

From what I've been told, he stands a couple of feet tall, his arms "drum" up and down, and the drum itself lights up! He'll look cool in our family room. :cool2: I think all of you DIS people that I met need to come here to MA to visit him!!!

Terry,

That Tiki is going to be awesome. That picture you took in the Tiki Room is incredible.

We really enjoyed meeting you and John. Hopefully we could make it in May. I never rule anything out. :)

I'll have a trip report up soon on the trip reports board. We didn't get very many pictures of the Polynesian as I wanted so I'm glad you posted several. Thank you!

Wow what a trip!! We had a blast, and the best part of it was meeting so many NEW people this year. (As well as seeing the others I already knew of course :goodvibes )

It truly was a pleasure getting to share our vacation with all of you.

SeaSpray, as always it was great talking with you and John in the pool. I love it and look forward to it again soon!!

LukenDC,
Great to meet you, I hope you have a great time when you go back HOME to the Poly in October. Enjoy!!!!

ADP,
Thanks for the great day of golf and lunch with your beautiful family. I really had fun..

Chamanoix,

It was great to finally meet and chat with you on our last day. I hope you had just as nice a time as we did.

DisneyFan67,

I am really happy we got to talk and hang out. We must have run into each other 50 times during the week. It was always nice to be greeted by your smiling face. Let me know about Disneyland in December. I'd love to meet up with you guys.

Lisa/Chris,

What a great job you did on the party. It was wonderful. It was great meeting you and your family as well and what a great time golfing. Too much fun!!!:rotfl2:

Steve/Tara,

Thanks again as always for a great time and just being GREAT Friends. Looking forward to Maui 2008. 11 months from today...:thumbsup2

I'm sure I have forgotten a few, and I have apologize. Still recovering from all the beer and wine in the lounge.

Sean

Thank you for the great photos!

It says a lot that you'd rather stay at the Poly for fewer days with your Aunt, rather than another resort! Glad to hear that she is "in" with the Poly!

I really haven't understood the price difference other than the location/monorail factor so we haven't stayed there yet. With your great review, I'm leaning towards giving it a try for a January trip. So far we've tried all of the moderate, lower end deluxe & DVC resorts and POP. Maybe it's time to "bite the bullet" or (gulp) go less often!:confused3

Hi Sean! :wave2:

I'm glad that your family made it back home safely! :) John and I were just looking through all of our pictures (all 1200 of them :faint:) and you and your family are in several of them. I'll email them to you if you want. Also we'll be sending Steve a CD/DVD full of all of our resort and fest pics, so he'll have them as well.

I'm sure that there will be more meetings at the Polynesian pool in our futures! LOL :sunny: And probably a Disneyland trip for us, eventually :)

Thank you posting about KONA! I have never eaten there and tomorrow I am calling!!

I have four children and an exchange student, so I am sure they will love the light up cups! :)

My husband is not one to experiment, but hey it is worth a try and after your pic's I want to try it!!

Hi Shirley!

I was thinking of you while I was at the MK! I saw some of the new "2007" bricks, and I tried to find one that said "Shirley and Ron etc" but I didn't see it. I almost took pictures of all of the 2007 bricks that I did see, in the hopes that some of them would belong to a DISer, but it started to rain and I had to run for cover! LOL :umbrella:

I hope you have a WONDERful time on the Wonder (I know you will!!!) and at WDW! :sunny: I know what you mean about the group though, I really miss everyone, and I do have hopes of another group vacation, some year! lol :grouphug:

just curious if you saw any 2007 bricks in your pictures that say
"The Bryants and The Jacksons". We just got a new on almost exactly in the center of the entrance of the MK. :goodvibes
thanks for checking

I'm so bummed that we didn't bump into one another! We had an awesome first time at the Poly though. We will definitely be going back there with the our girls. One question though, what were those blue-ish color flowers that were all over the place? I took the behind the seeds tour so I'm feeling kind of upbeat about not killing a plant. :cool1:

What a wonderful report and such beautiful pictures! You look so relaxed.
Thank You.:flower3:
Now I really cant wait for our trip.
Yahoo!!!!

WOO HOO! I just booked our next trip to the Polynesian!!! We'll be going next May 18th - 23rd, 2008, staying in a lagoon concierge room again, and DH's Aunt will be with us in a garden concierge room!!! :woohoo: :yay:

Anyone up for another DIS meet there next year??? :cheer2:

The Kona Cafe is mine and my family's favorite all-around restaurant at WDW! I don't think you'll be disappointed. To see even more of the food pictures I've taken there, click on my "Family Vacations" link below in my signature, go to the "Disney World vacations" page, then look for all the "Restaurants" links. :)

I DID see some 2007 bricks and I wanted to take some pictures of them, but I'm sorry I can't remember the names I saw on them. They looked nice though, they were a little darker "brownish-red" stone than the older stones, and the entire year "2007" was written out in the Mickey head at top, as opposed to the older bricks that only had "97" or "95" etc.

I'm sorry we didn't see each other either! I'm glad you had an awesome time though!!! :) I have no idea what any of the flowers there are. Sorry! How did you like the Behind the Seeds tour? We're considering that for next May.

What a wonderful report and such beautiful pictures! You look so relaxed.
Thank You.:flower3:

Yahoo!!!!

I was VERY relaxed on this trip, I think it was the best trip to WDW I've ever had, with the exception of our first onsite family trip in 2001. It was wonderful! And even my DH can't wait to go back now and usually it's ME who has to convince him that we should go back. lol I hope you have a great time on your trip! :)

I would definitely be interested in that my friend and my wife and I will put our heads together to see if it can happen. I got back last night and fell into a coma like sleep that lasted from 8 pm to 6:45 this morning. We're all exhausted, but very happy at the same time. My wife and I decided to do a smaller trip to DW next year, but make the Poly more the focus of the trip and not do the parks to the extent we did them on this trip.:rotfl2:

I can't describe to you in the proper words how great it was meeting you and your DH this trip along with everyone else. It really made the trip special and it goes to show how great the DIS is and the good people who are on it. If it wasn't for this site, I would have never had the chance to meet all of the great people I did on this trip, I really mean that. :thumbsup2

If you're doing a CD/DVD of the trip please let me know if I could see a copy of it. I would love to see the great pictures your DH took. He's got the picture taking down to a science and is quite the pro. He puts me to shame with his knowledge of his camera and how to use it. I'm still trying to figure out how to get mine to take night shots.:rotfl2:

Loved your pictures as always Terry. It sounds like a fabulous trip. It must have been great getting together with Steve and so many other Polynesian fanatics.

We'll probably be at the Polynesian next May although only for 2 nights sandwiched between AKV CL and BCV. I'll be looking for you.:wave2:

And I'm glad we're not the only family that has breakfast at Kona even if staying in Hawaii.:goodvibes It's the best isn't it?

The Behind the Seeds tour was awesome! I really enjoyed hearing the little tips that they had. Maybe I'll actually be able to grow something now:rotfl2: I also got an idea for dd's science project. Thank goodness b/c I can't ever come up with anything that she likes. It was a little over an hour, but it flew by.

BTW, we fell in love w/ the Tonga Toast! It was soooo good. We ate breakfast every day at Captain Cooks and all we ordered was the Toast.

I did see someone in the dis colors on Saturday or Sunday morning...green crocs and a green shirt one morning at breakfast. I was too shy to go up to her though.

Hi Eddie :wave2: The DVD will be on its way to you either today or tomorrow :) I won't get my hopes up too high that you and Maryann will be at the Polynesian at the same time as us next year, but boy that'd be awesome!!!! :sunny:

It really was a very special weekend at WDW, that's for sure! Eventually I'll have pictures from my trip up on my web site. :)

I'm laughing at your remark about going to the Kona Cafe for breakfast even though you're in the Hawaii building because I thought it was pretty funny that we had breakfast ADRs there for every morning of our trip, and we didn't miss any! LOL In fact, when Stitch and Mickey called to wake us up, it was the thought of the Kona press pot of coffee and the wonderful breakfasts that made us jump out of bed! :sunny: LOL

Thanks for the comments about the Behind the Seeds tour :) The person in the green crocs and shirt weren't me, but it sounds like it could've been another DISer :confused3 LOL

SeaSpray -- great shots...especially of the F&B (especially, ESPECIALLY of the Lapu Lapus!!!) :thumbsup2

One question -- did you try a Dole Whip at the Poly? It is my DW's favorite WDW snack in Adventureland and she is wondering if it is the same at the Poly, now that it is available @ Captain Cook's. Can you comment? TIA for your response.

I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures :3dglasses I didn't have the chance to try a Dole Whip at the resort. In fact, I didn't have one at the MK either. From what I've read though, they taste the same. :) I'll have to make a point of having a Dole Whip at the Polynesian next time :sunny:

THe kids tried one from Captain Cook's and loved it! I had a little taste and it was just as good as those in MK. The only complaint was the small cup that they were given--it didn't hold enough! :rotfl:

Tks for the info Tess. BTW, I've seen commercial batches of the Dole Whip mix on ebay, but, much like the pseudo-Tonga Toast at iHop, it's just not the same unless you're at The Poly...

I have a unique Dole Whip story that happened last week while I was getting a late night beverage. We had just got done from doing a late night at Epcot and I needed a beer and knew the lounge was closed. My wife and kids went on ahead to the room and I went to Captain Cooks. I was standing in line waiting to pay and was kind of watching the lady take apart and clean the Dole Whip machine. I don't think she knew what she was doing and my suspicion was confirmed. She had most of the machine apart and put a small bucket in from of the valves. I could barley understand her language because she had a thick Jamaican accent. She yelled to start with the water and that's when disaster struck.

Within a minute the entire left over contents along with a mixture of water, started pouring into the small bucket and quickly over filled onto the floor with a loud plop. It went everywhere and I mean everywhere! The Jamaican woman was yelling for help in broken english, our cashier tried to help out, then some worker came running from the back and slipped and fell when she ran into the mixture. For like 10 minutes it was complete chaos. A worker came rushing with a bucket and mop, then decided he wasn't equipped enough or didn't want to deal with it and just disappeared. They were throwing towels down right and left and it was a miracle no one was hurt. They actually had to push the sticky mixture with a squeegee into the back work area. When I got back to the room with my semi cold beer, my wife wondered why it took so long. Every time I hear the word, Dole whip, I'll remember what happened.

Hi Sea Spray!

We just got back from the Polynesian on Wednesday. Sorry our paths did not cross, but glad you had a happy anniversary trip!

I'm with you that the Polynesian never looked better - and your wonderful photos prove it. My kids were teasing me for taking so many pictures with my new camera. I can't wait to tell them that you took 10 times as many photos in half as many days at the resort! I got the most grief when I started taking pictures of the food we ate.

We had breakfast at Kona Cafe on our check-out day. Macadamia Pineapple pancakes - Mmmmm! Mmmmm!

Wish we had plans to go back to the Polynesian already as you do!

Thanks again for getting me to look at your trip report instead of working! Just kidding.... love to lurk, but the pix are awesome. Anyone else going down around Turkey Day?
