Hi all! (A quick look at the $$$ spent on last weeks trip.)

For the first time in many years, we did a quick trip without the DDP. I figured that since we don't eat alot in the summer we were bound to eat less. We did, but the numbers were not as stunning as I had imagined.

We would have paid $300 for the 2 of us to get the CS DDP.

For our 5 nite 6 days the QSDDP would have given us 20 CS and 20 Snacks.

OOP we had 5 TS, 8 CS, and 7 Snacks. (total, not each)

We did not purchase any desserts with the meals, and only 1 drink at any meal. (not each, just to share) We carried our own drinks in the rooms, and in the parks.

Our total for the week was $260, only $40 less than the Meal Plan would have been. Even figuring we spent a bit more on 4 of the TS, the remaining one was a meal we split, and cost about what 2 CS would have. That means for about $3.50 each per day, we would have had nearly double the food. That is not to say we NEEDED the extra, but would have had the option of fresh drinks, desserts, and would not have been watching the money.

We ate at
TS- Sanaa, Foultons, and Hollywood Brown Derby (Oddly the cheapest and Best:)

CS-Typhoon Tilly's, Starring Rolls, Sunshine Seasons, Main Street Bakery, Pirita y Perico, Food Court at POFQ, Cap'n Jacks (at Poly)
These were all Entree' only and we split them all.

Snacks were 3 Dole whip swirls, 3 mickey bars, and the mini donuts at Typhoon Lagoon (not on the DDP btw, but totally worth it for my next trip!!!)

Just thought you would all like to know our $$ breakdown, will totally do counter service DDP next time, even if I think we won't eat much!:rotfl:

We loved the QSDP when we were there for Spring Break. The doughnuts at Typhoon Lagoon are fabulous and only made better by the vanilla icing!! We will use the QSDP next Spring Break as well!!

Yes, for the small ammount that we saved in money, we did not eat as well as we would have for the extra. And we would have had lots more cold drinks!

Gotcha. LOL Yeah I think the CS plan is great for shorter stays or split stays. We are doing a split stay so we are going to try it for the 2 nights we are at Poly. The mugs are great too......we can use them for our other nights at BCV and AKV on this same trip. :goodvibes

The QSDP is something that we're considering next time too. I'm currently crunching the numbers for our group. I have a few questions about how the Dining Plans work for your group.

Do you feel that it'd be worth giving up the TS restaurants to trade for all CS?

How would your numbers have been had you opted for the regular Dining Plan versus the QSDP? It looks like you'd have used 3 TS credits and 7 CS credits. Fulton's isn't on a plan so it wouldn't figure in, but it would mean that you could possibly have traded in your 2 leftover TS meals for the 2 uncovered CS meals (assuming Disney still lets you do this)

This past trip while not on a Dining Plan I see that you dined at Fulton's. Being that they're not on a plan, is it worth giving up this 'freedom' to choose what you want in order to have a plan?

Thanks for your input on this. We recently just started looking at the QSDP for our January trip and I ma having reservations.

We never felt like we give up anything "freedom" wise on the dining plan. We happened to eat at Foulton's this time because I couldn't get in at Coral Reef. We could certainly have made it without any TS this trip and done the QSDP- just thought we wouldn't eat enough to justify it, but turns out I was wrong :) We do enjoy the TS, and most generally eat a TS a day, like to get in out of the heat. We never tried to exchange our credits, when we do the full plan, I make the ADR's based on what we like , and where I think we will be. I was stunned with our walk in at Brown Derby, would never expect this!

I also kind of figured in my head that if we had done the QSDP, we would have used 2x the CS credits, as opposed to the TS we did. Maybe a bizarre way of thinking, but know for sure we didn't get nearly the drinks and desserts that we would have had. If there were more than 2 people, maybe the savings wouldn't be as much, but conversely, if they are teens, the savings could be incalcuable! (speaking as the mother of boys!)

If you stayed for 5 nights on the DDP it would have been $400 not $300. Sorry I read it wrong. I thought you did the regular DDP but it seems you did the quick service one and I don't know how to delete an entry.
