Had a fantastic time!! This was our first "official" trip home as it was our first stay at a DVC property and our first after buying in December. We had to make the reservations somewhat last-minute, so ended up at OKW rather than our home(s) - BWV and VWL.

We enjoyed it even more than we anticipated! OKW is a fantastic resort and really not that far out of the way, especially if you have a car. We had a party of eight adults, in a two bedroom and a studio. Everyone raved about the accomodations! The two bedroom is absolutely HUGE! We were in building 62 on the second floor - it was perfect. Excellent location just across from the main building and we had a gorgeous view of the pond and fountain, plus one of the greens. We were up on the 2nd floor, so had a terrific view as well (room 6223 - dedicated 2 bedroom; and 6220 the studio - an end unit)

WDW was great as always. We had six adults to play tour guide for: two had never been to ANY Disney park, two had been to just Disneyland, and two had been to both but not to WDW in 20 years. SO it was quite the commando adventure to do it all in 3 1/2 days!! BUT, we got the highlights in and everyone had a great time. It was a bit crowded at MGM Saturday afternoon and at MK on Sunday evening. We spent Monday night at Epcot and it was just gorgeous - low crowds and a nice breeze. Tuesday was pretty empty at MGM as well. (We hit AK each morning for a few hours and left for another park as it got warmer.)

It was pretty hot for this time of year. Highs were in the 90s, but the humidity wasn't too terrible until Tuesday. It rained when we got in Friday night and then again as we were on the plane waiting to take off - it's like it held off just for us!

All in all a great trip. We were so impressed with OKW we're seriously considering switching a planned trip a year from October! DH and I are going for a week in a one bedroom at BWV, then MIL and two nephews are joining us for the second week. We were going to switch to a 2 bedroom at BWV but now we're thinking of moving entirely. MIL would really enjoy sitting on the porch and watching the scenery. We actually dug out the laptop while we were there to compare points... ACK!

Okay, shutting up for now. If anyone has any questions, just ask!

Hi Kim, glad you had such a wonderful trip. You will find ALL the DVC resorts make it a great vacation. I like OKW too, because of the extra room and the relaxing location. But when it's just my wife and I, we like 'exploring' the other locations, a studio is fine for the 2 of us and it saves us points. Try them all, you will find things you will like about each one.

Your experience sounds almost identical to ours two years ago. We bought into BWV and couldn't get in so we took a 2 bdr at OKW. We were in bldg 64. We fell in love with it. We have also stayed at the BWV and loved it also for different reasons. We called the last of January this year to see if we could make last minute ressies for Feb at any of the resorts and got OKW again. We had a 1 bdr this time and had such a great time we had to add on for the second time. We seriously thought about getting a small resale at OKW but ended up with BCV points instead. It appears that OKW is generally a lot easier to get into at the 7 month window or later, which is just fine with us. It is so great to have such terrific choices.

hi kim . We love OKW . glad you see what we see every year, that okw is the best.. for us at least..... dave.

132 days till OKW !!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad you had a great trip, and that you enjoyed OKW!

Glad you enjoyed OKW as much as we do. Don't you just love sitting on the balcony enjoying your morning coffee listening to all the (quiet) sounds??? My favorite, especially when the troops are still sleeping..............nice and peaceful..........

Allright!!!...another new DVC member who has discovered the pleasures of OKW for the same reasons we love OKW/

Sounds like a great trip.

Kim,

Hey, we were right above you in 6232 :)

Did you get to check out Illuminations each night from your balcony. What a great view and great building location!!

It was our first time at OKW and we loved it too!

Marley

Howdy, neighbor!! :)

Unfortunately we were out too late most nights to catch it. However, we did GO to Illuminations on Monday night, so we did get to see it. We did see the very tail end of the fireworks the night we got in (Friday), so we knew if we were ever in the room at that time we'd be able to see it!

You all can join my husband in the OKW fan club. We bought an OKW resale last year, and have had two stays in a 1 BR. We're leaving Saturday for a stay at BWV, and just signed papers for an add-on at BCV. I thought the location at BWV and BCV would be great, and our DD loves the pools. But my DH keeps grumbling "but the rooms are so much smaller, I don't understand..." Yesterday, I heard him mutter, "I guess we can use those points at OKW too". Jeez, you'd think the guy was 8 ft tall and 300 pounds. I think it must be that extra overstuffed chair and ottoman in the living room of the 1 BR at OKW. No matter which unit, it's HIS chair! And then there's the balcony, and the lake view with all the birds we had in back of Bldg. 64. I think I'm going to be wondering why I'm paying the extra money for dues at BCV. Diana

We are going for our first vacation to OKW since becoming members, we have never been before. We have a 2 bedroom and 6 adults and twin 18 month old babies. Does anyone know how comfortable the pull out bed is (if I am correct there should be one in the sitting area?) My parents are going to sleep in the master bedroom and my friends are going to stay in the studio so that leaves hubby, me and the kids to stay in the main part of the room. I am hoping this is going to work. Thanks. Kathy

Aren't you awfully nice!! All your guests are getting the best places! The pull out is OK.... it gets very bright in that part of the unit in the moring.... you may want to reconsider re-locating your friends... but wait and see, there are lots of options.

We were in those same units on our trip this year and loved it!!! OKW is soooo nice...

We had six adults in the two bedroom and it worked out just fine. The pull-out was not bad, we were told. However, it's a bit tight for two regular sized people. We ended up taking the mattress off the second bed in the second bedroom and putting it on the living room floor, so one slept there and the other on the pull-out. It worked great!

Last time we were there is was horrible! 45 minute wait for every bus we wanted. Was wondering if they have changed this situation at all.

Everything else was fantastic though.

We had a car, so never took the bus. I sure saw lots of them around the resort, however. They seemed to be plentiful.

How was the bus situation?

Wow. We never had that bad of a problem. Hopefully you complained to somebody.
