Just back from OKW! Any questions?

Hello all!
We've just returned from a great stay at OKW! We stayed 6 nights in room 1124 (studio). This was a great location for us! Very close to the HH which is beautifully decorated for the holidays! The weather last week was sunny and warm (70's) - we even took a dip in their heated pool one day!

Room cleanliness Excellent!
Location Excellent!
Staff Friendly and helpful!

Hi Tigger

I'll be there next month and was wondering if you noticed what the price was on the refillable mug and if there is a cost to refill it. From what I've noticed online so far is the mug was like $4.95 but then you paid for each refill. Someone else said they did have the mugs at $11.95 like all other resorts but the mug was a holiday design I think so not sure if her mug was just for the holidays.

I actually looked for the refillable mugs at Conch Flats (the OKW store). The only mugs I saw were the DVC member insulated mugs and I think they were like $22?? I didn't see any holiday mugs.

My understanding is that the refillable mugs are only refillable at the resort and there is a refill charge at OKW. We decided just to stock our fridge with lots of sodas and juices since we'd have to be at the resort to refill the mugs anyway. We even took a couple of plastic soda bottles into the parks with us!

I am very interested in staying in one of the studios at OKW and I'm looking for as much feedback as I can get.

Was this your first stay in a timeshare and your first stay at OKW in particular? How would you rate your experience based on staying at another on property resort, did it still have a distinctly "Disney" feel to you?

Did you rely mostly on their transportation or your own? Were wait times acceptable?

How would you rate the noise factor of your neighbors?

Is there any kind of patio or balcony allotted for a studio?

Is there a sitting area/living room type place?

How much time did you actually spend in your room versus being in the parks?

Of all the places on property, this is somewhere that I have almost no knowledge of so sorry for all the questions, pretty much any more details would be appreciated!

Hi Brenda.

I'm going to take your questions with me next month and really pay attention to noise factors and such and will report back. However we won't be in a studio are travel party increased in size and now we're in a 2 bedrm *does a snoopy sort of dance* We're rather excited about it :-D

This is our first time there and our first time staying as DVC (it's my friends) so all new experiences.

Anything you'd like me to inquire about that you haven't found an answer to yet here (which is near impossible with all the great help i've found) let me know.

I leave in like 2 weeks, so you have time

I'll try to answer your questions.

Yes, this was our first time staying in a DVC resort. I felt this resort had all the Disney "magic." We chose OKW for this trip because DH has been under lots of stress at work and he needed time to rest and relax. It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the parks and relax.

We used the bus transportation most of the time.

We only heard noise when yelling was involved. The noise factor between the studios was only an issue when our neighbors decided to have a very LOUD argument one day.

The studios at OKW have a small balcony - it's big enough for 2 or 3 chairs. Ours overlooked one of the holes on the golf course (I think it was the 8th). My DH loved watching the sun come up!

As far as a sitting area is concerned - there is a small round table and two chairs on one side of the studios. There isn't a separate living room in the studios. Here's a link to some pictures of the rooms (I think the studios are larger than they appear in these pics):

We went on our trip during value season so the parks closed earlier. During the daytime we spent our time at the parks, then usually had a PS for dinner and spent time in our room before heading to DTD during the evening. I could have spent an extra week just exploring OKW! The pool area and the hospitality house are great!

One of my favorite things about OKW...... anytime we returned in our rental car the security guard greeted us at the gate by saying "Welcome Home!"
