Just got back from Florida yesterday.. We spent 6 nights at OKW and 2 at VB..

We spent the first 5 nights at OKW in a 2 bedroom. We were in 4613 and it was great. Everything in good condition, but it still had the older appliances, so this section has not been redone yet, or so it seemed... Everything was clean and in great order though. The first night there, June 7, there was loud disco music that could be heard from the 2nd bedroom front window later in the night, but it was only that one night.

On June 12 my Dad left so we checked out of the 2 bedroom for one night in a studio.. We had requested to have the studio in the same building as the 2 bedroom so the move wouldn't be so bad if we were lucky enough to get an early check in. We called that morning and low and behold the studio was ready to be checked into at 10AM, so we just transferred luggage and the remaining groceries.. That was a wonderful plus. The studio 4625 was nice as well, but the view was completely blocked from the rear by the folliage, didn't bother me though. I can look at palm trees all the time since we don't have them here ;)

We went to VB the following week for 2 nights and were in a garden view inn room, 2240.. The room and the resort were great.. I had never been to VB before and after seeing the resort we will definately go back. I didn't make any room requests here other than non-smoking and while the view was ok, we were rather close the the elevator so we had a balcony that was kind of covered partially by the roof. Once again, though no disappointments at all though.. The room was large and very nice.. My wife's only complaint was the tub.. It was like permanently stained. Kind of like a permant dark coloring on the bottom. Maybe it was from people showering with sand on them.. It wasn't dirty, just looked, well, kind of gross. When we go again, I think I will try an ocean view next time, although the garden view wasn't bad either and we didn't spend a lot of time in the room..

The weather was ok, typical of Florida in the summer with showers just about everyday, but they didn't last very long.. We went to MK on June 10 and it was PACKED. I think it was this way because it was only one of 2 nights that had Spectromagic and fireworks that week. We skipped a few rides because of the long lines, we got there too late to make use of the fastpass.. All in all a great trip.

If anyone has any questions, fire away...

Glad to hear you and your family had a great time. Sounds great as we've never stayed at VB yet either.

We will be doing a similar thing when my DD graduates from HS 5/2006. We'd like to do 4 nights at OKW and 2 nights at VB in a 2br.

Thanks for sharing and have a magical day.

This is my biggest complaint with Disney, I can not understand for the life of me why Epcot and MGM have nightly entertainment/shows and MK only has it once a week at times. It inevitably causes the MK to be packed like a can of sardines!

I agree completely. We really didn't care about seeing the parade or the fireworks on this trip.. If I had been paying attention I would have noticed this and probably switched days around and went to MK on a different day. MK was the only park on this past trip with 90 minute wait times for many rides...:(

Wow! Was I glad to see your post. We are seriously interested in the vacation club and are going back and forth between OKW and Vero Beach. Do you know if there are any shops close to the VBR? Restaurants? Most especially, a Taco Bell as I am addicted to their beef meximelts?

There seemed to be a few places close by, but to be honest with you after 10 days in Orlando, we went to VB on a Tuesday and never left for 2 days.. The resort is not real close to any cities per se... We drove through a small town getting there and I noticed a Burger King but that was it. There was an outlet mall not too far, maybe 15 minutes or so off of 95. Like I said, we didn't explore the area too much. We were having too much fun at the resort.

Was "Gay Day/Week" still in progress ? In past years they would book TL for a late nite party and the music can be heard at OKW. If every other song was by the Village People then that was probably what it was.

June 7 was the last night of the Gay Days week, so it probably was music from Typhoon lagoon. From what I could hear, we didn't go outside, it was totally late 70s disco music... I was so tired that night though, had gotten up at 4AM, that it didn't keep me awake for long...
