Just back from MNSSHP 9/15

If it hasn't been said before, they let us in at 4PM on the dot on 9/15, a family ahead of us in line for MNSSHP had the wrong tickets and left so I stepped ahead, put my ticket through, scanned my finger and went through at 3:59PM, one of the CM's yelled at another CM "Are you letting them in already? It's not 4 yet" OOPS, I didn't see other people not going through at all, so being a newbie I apologized to the first CM and then he just said to the other CM: Let them in....

For future MNSSHP I will be sure to wait until someone behind the gates gives the goahead, though I wish the ticketscanner-thingies had been covered until 4. then for sure I would have known.

To get the free face painting do I have to wait until ther party actually starts or can I get it done at 4:00. Not sure if they wait until everyone else leaves.

The party starts at 7:00 pm. I suspect it won't be available until then. Have fun! :artist:

I know there has been a lot of concern about the fact that the park was not emptied of day guests, but we saw literally nobody without an arm band on. The lines for the character meet and greets, rides and candy were short, and they checked you for your armband before letting you go to any of those activities. I suppose some people may have stayed around for the parade and fireworks, and like I said previously, we skipped the early parade, but there were not large crowds for the fireworks, and the 2nd showing of the parade was deserted. I would ay that Disney did an excellent job of crowd control and general execution of this event.
We saw the 2nd parade as well...most areas were deserted, but we sat by the castle, and that was pretty busy. Of course, there was the whole "will they or won't they" with the Villains Mix & Mingle since they nearly did it right before the parade (but decided against it) and it was definitely going to happen (and did) after the parade. I think that contributed to that area's "crowdedness".

As for the wristband thing, I posted this in another thread, but I'll copy and paste it here....

However, our experiences with the whole wristband thing were very different than what the OP experienced. We were only checked for a wristband one time, and that was by a CM at a random location who commented on our costumes...let us walk past and then called out "oh, you had a wristband, right?" But before we could even show her, she just turned back around and continued doing whatever it was she was doing. So correction, we actually were not checked for wristbands. And before someone says she might have seen them on our wrists and that's why she didn't wait for us to show them...nope. There's absolutely no way our wristbands were visible unless we lifted our costume sleeves up for that specific purpose. We found most CMs at their checkpoints just chatting away with each other...no one checked anyone for wristbands anywhere from what we saw. We got to MK at 6:30pm...one side of Main Street was for people coming in and the other was for people leaving. We headed over to Cosmic Rays for a quick dinner and found PLENTY of people just sitting there without wristbands on. We also saw many of those same people in the park well into the party....getting on rides, sitting at the parade, etc. It seems like they knew to just hang out somewhere until they knew CMs wouldn't bother checking anymore...not like we were really checked anyway. In fact, when I was in line to get a MNSSHP pin at the Expo Hall, there were 3-4 people in line without wristbands that were told "oh sorry, you need to have a wristband to purchase these." No comment about needing to pay for the party, no escorting them out...nothing. I was in line for the pin at about 10pm. I still had a blast and enjoyed myself thoroughly...really the only reason I was keeping a watchful eye is because I wanted to see how true to their word Disney would be about "rigorously checking wristbands." As I suspected, we saw CMs simply turn a blind eye. That's not to say that the park was overrun with people who stayed for free...most people did have wristbands. All in all, it was a terrific night and something I would gladly do again. It was just hard for me and DH to simply not say "I told you so."

Here's a couple of pictures. We didn't have time to do much in the way of costumes this year... But we were glad that we weren't wearing wigs and heavy costumes considering the way the weather turned out!

The last two pictures are blurry. I hate the way my flash pictures turn out, and I refuse to drag around a tripod. But I thought these still looked pretty cool. Especially the HM dancers - they look like real ghosts!!

Hey I saw you guys walking by!! We were sitting by the Partners statue waiting for the fireworks and we saw you all walk by...I remember because I pointed you all out to DH and we chuckled at your shirts. Had no idea you were DIS!

Thanks, Mary!

We felt kind of bummed just doing the "Mousketeer thing" - after going "all out" the last 2 years.... But everybody seemed to think the whole "Brady Bunch" thing was pretty clever...

Sorry I wasn't wearing lime green - we could have said "Hi!"

We just returned as well (sorry I didn't have time to read all posts). Fortunately we never saw anyone without a wristband. I don't know how Disney does it but they really cleared the park. We saw tons of people starting to leave at 6pm.

The weather was a bit of a bummer, mostly because it was very steamy after the rain. My dd had to take off her bee costume she was so hot. I'm not sure how people did it with long sleeve costumes! But the trick o treat lines were great - very quick and fun! My favorite was the Hallowishes which to me made it worth the rain and money. We also saw the parade twice. We spent the majority of the time trick o treating and waiting for the parade and fireworks. For us it wasn't as good as the Christmas party but definitely worth trying at least once!

Unfortunately we discovered when we arrived home that 90% of our candy had melted. Oh well, the candy wasn't important :teeth: .

To help clear up the Jack Sparrow sighting, I think there was a guy who was having people take pictures of/with him. I dont think this guy worked for disney. When I saw him there was a line of people waiting to take a picture with him, however this was near toontown. Why would Jack be taking pictures in toontown? He was probably doing this elsewhere which is giving people the idea that he worked for disnay as Jack. pirate:

(sigh) If only Demosthenes would just post his MNSSHP pictures to help us out here and clear up the whole thing more...and this time, with photographic proof.

That's ok, we weren't wearing any lime green either. I forgot my Mickey paint chips at home. :lmao: Hopefully I'll have a pic of us up soon. Wes went as Master Gracey with this gothic style Victorian suit (complete with top hat) and I went as a pirate (more specifically as Elizabeth Swann in her pirate outfit in POTC2).

My family will be going to our 2nd MNSSHP on 10/5. We will be doing a repeat of our costumes from last year. There will be 7 Cruella DeVils and 11 dalmatians. If I knew how to paste pictures here, I'd insert one. Unfortunately, my computer skills are limited on this board. :confused3

We plan on getting to the party at 4:00pm because we have ADRS at LTT at 4:10pm and I was wondering if we'd be able to go on any rides before 7:00pm? And...will we be able to walk all around the park until 7:00pm? We will be done with dinner before 7:00pm, so I want to know what we will be able to do. One last question...are the MNSSHP items only out for sale at 7:00pm or do they put them out a little earlier? I'd like to have my shopping out of the way before the party, but don't know if that is possible. Thanks! :thumbsup2

I am also curious about the lines from 4-7pm. Also, any recommendations about which rides to try to get on during that time? Thanks!

Did someone mention whether or not the witch flew at the end of Hallowishes?

They said no one flew probably due to rainy weather.

But last year the new Hallowishes had Tink, not the witch anymore.

Thanks to all of you that have posted about the party on 15th. I am so excited now! Not sure if DS6 is going to be able to stay up very late, but we are going to try and fit everything in!

I cannot wait until 10/2!!! It's also DH's birthday. We'll have our little one with us so not focusing on rides mostly the parade and characters.

Does anyone know if the frame they were selling was for 5x7 or 4x6?

:hmghost: :maleficen :hmghost: :maleficen

Were the t-shirts plentiful or is it like the crazy mad dash for the MVMCP shirts? And, are they available anywhere other than the Emporium? Thanks. We're going next Friday - our first MNSSHP and our first trip to Disney since moving half an hour away last month (it's taken everything we have not to go yet!!)
