Just back from Mexico on DVC Points

momsully and princesstink,

Did either of you notice any shorter excursions? Just wondering how and if my dh can tolerate that heat all day.

We have done it many times on vacation in Mexico (cruises), Italy, etc. but this was all before my dh got sick.

I was hoping that I would have been able to do some excursions without dh if my brother's exchange came through also but it did not.

Will have to play it by ear and see how it goes. We mind end up doing a lot of relaxation, lol.

Anna,
I would be careful to NOT plan too many excursions...as you will miss out of the resorts themselves. I received this advice before our first trip in 2006, and am glad I did. We were planning 3-4 excursions, we cut it back to 2. I think 2 is perfect for a 7 days stay. There is so much to enjoy at the resorts.

As for shorter excursions, there are fishing excursions which I beleive are 4, 6, and 8 hours. We will be doing the 8 hr Private for the first time in May. So, I can't report on any of these yet. Our day trip to Isla Mujeres was a shorter excursions....of course it was done on our own, so we decided how long or short to make it. I think we left the resort about 9am, and were back close to 3-4pm ( I know it was before Happy Hour anyhow :thumbsup2).

Know that if going in July, you may want to rethink going to Chichen-Itza. Esp if your DH is bothered by the heat. I reeeeeally wanted to go there, and was warned about the heat in advance, so we choose to not book it. I love heat, DH on the other hand thinks its HOT when it's 85 degrees. We went to Tulum, and as much as I love the heat...I have to admit it was pretty hot there, and it's on a cliff right on the water. So, I couldnt imagine what Chichen-Itza wold be like in July.

I would recommend asking questions on the tug board about the shorter excursions, they are very nice and extremely helpful. And most of them appear to be long time visitors.
