Well, sort of back-still in Charleston Airport. We ate at Stack's, Salty Dog, British Open Pub, Panera's (Hey-it was Easter dinner and every resturaunt was either closed or very crowded), Sea Shack, and Low Country Boil at resort. Any ??

How did you enjoy the Low Country boil at the resort? The only one I've ever had was at Uncle Bubbas, and I really really enjoyed it.

Now that it's over, would you and your DH stay in a studio at HHI again?

We are looking forward to seeing some of your photos from your trip!

How did the HHI crowds for the Easter weekend compare to the crowds you normally see at Thanksgiving?

Did you see Shadow?

Have a safe trip home!!

First, Will, Tadaa!-

I had seen B'leu earlier that day at the Beach House and said I hoped to see Shadow sometime during the week. He brought her over to the pool and when he saw me, he said "Shadow and I have been looking all over for you!" Would you believe that there were people at the resort whom I overheard saying "What's all this dog house stuff and dog bowls, with the name 'Shadow'?" I hope they met her.

Bobbi, no, I wouldn't get a studio again. I'm one spoiled DVCer, and Guy doesn't share the TV too well (like not at all). I'm so sick of "Sports Center" and The Golf Channel. Besides, at HHI, I love that little area by the washer/dryer for hanging jackets and hats.
We liked the Low Country Boil at the Beach House. We don't even know-what's Bubbas? It wasn't super-special, but on HHI nice views and atmosphere, and well worth the cost of dinner.

Oh, I almost forgot, Will (I was so anxious to show off Shadow), I thought it was much more crowded than Thanksgiving. Of course the first few days we had both the Easter crowds and the Heritage PGA crowds, so it was PACKED. But the last couple days, with those crowds gone, it wasn't bad at all. The front desk said that after April vacation and Easter, things die down in May.

Great picture!

Uncle Bubbas is near Savannah, I think he's Paula Deen's brother maybe. That was the only time I ever had "Low Country Boil" and so, I think we would like it at the resort as well. We really enjoyed eating at the restaurants you had suggested. I can't wait to go to HHI during the summer when there's lots going on. Also, I have suggested Thanksgiving 2012 to my family and they're mulling over it.

The weather in the picture looks wonderful. Were you able to sit out on your balcony? The balconies there have rocking chairs, don't they?

Yes, the weather was close to 80 degrees every day. Yes, there are rocking chairs on every balcony. Also, the 1 BRs have a picnic table out there, but the studios have just a (VERY) small round table. Reason #99 why I prefer 1 BRs there.
Yes, you could always sit on your balcony-well, actually ours was too warm in the morning because we faced right into the sun. I don't know if it was an abnormally warm Easter though. On Easter afternoon, when I went over to the pool, I got the last available seat anywhere. DH tried to call me, but it was so noisy with all the people enjoying the pool that I didn't hear the phone Not at all like Thanksgiving weather!

Glad you had a nice trip to HHI & great pic with Shadow :thumbsup2 Love HHI & our family hopes to get back there soon, our trip there last summer was a short three days enroute to WDW which wasn't nearly enough.

Guess that with Easter & the Heritage taking place it made for high weekend crowds, but did you find it quieted down after Sunday ?

Hope you'll be posting more pictures soon too :goodvibes

I love to show off pictures!

Here's Shadow again, and an idea of what Easter afternoon was like-beautiful weather-

And for anyone wondering how pretty the island is-

I might have mentioned that the mini-refrigerators in the studios were different from in the past. Here's how they're built now, more room in the freezer-

Just beautiful! Whether or not our DS's family uses those HHI point we bought with them in mind, DH and I can't wait to get down there again.

Thanks for the pics of Shadow and B'lou!!! I'll have to show my 10yo DD, she just loves Shadow!

So it sounds like the after Easter crowd is not too bad. We are skipping our normal summer week in HHI due to DD dancing in WDW in June but trying to get back ASAP!! We just love HHI's atmosphere - DVC resort and the whole island!! Glad you had a good time!!

I have a couple!!! Never been to hhi before so excited! We have a 2 br is there anything I should bring extra? To make our stay easier? Space is not an issue we will be driving we want to cook in the villa so any extra kitchen stuff? (pans serving stuff etc) are the kitchens outfitted the same as the others in DW? We will have 6 adults can we fit an air mattress in the bedroom with the two queens? ( for my 19 yr old dd ) did you rent bikes? If so where? Sorry so many questions..,
Many thanks!
Dana

I LOVe the photos- especially the one with Shadow at the pool- DS12 actaully got off the couch and stopped watching the Yankee Game to look!! :scared1::rotfl:

We leave for our first trip in 30 days! Love all the pictures. We're also staying in a studio. I have a few questions...

Would you suggest renting bikes? It's just the DH and myself. I do have asthma and don't know how long I could ride. Are there places close by we should bike to?

I plan on bringing a hot plate to fry up eggs and sandwiches. What grocery store to you suggest?

The new fridge looks great. What won't fit in it?

Does the studio balcony have rocking chairs?

Thanks for any info.

The studio balconies do have rocking chairs.
The bikes can be rented on site for your length of stay, and I don't ride a lot, but did enjoy having one. The beach house isn't that far and it was convenient to ride to, there was a bike trail that went under the highway.

Thanks Bobbi! And congrats on your new HHI points!:wizard:

There are several grocery stores (within an easy drive). The trick is that the Island has an incredibly restrictive sign ordinance, and it can be beastly to find your way around and find different stores. (Arriving after dark would be a "nightmare"). There's a Wal-mart not terribly far away. Even finding the resort can be tricky the first time. The resort probably has eggs in its store.

If you want some good local food, ask Mike if Dye's Gullah fixin's is still open (hopefully it is) and ask directions (it's near Tuesday Morning and a Wachovia, in one of the "strip malls" that aren't like usual strip malls).

I found the studio to be roomier and better equipped than some other DVCs (haven't stayed at OKW yet) and they have luggage carts (but the studio I had had a "lip" at the door that meant the cart couldn't come in the room (since I was by myself, a stronger person might have been able to get it in)).

Congrats on seeing Shadow -- I had fun taking photos of all of Shadow's stuff, but she/he wasn't on duty in November, 2009.
