Background - Me, DW, DS (9) and DD (16) making our first trip to a DVC resort since becoming BWV members last summer
Saturday June 19, 2004
On the road about 10:15 am
Check into Asheville Holiday Inn Express about 5:30 pm
DW and DS swim a bit at the pool, then we all walk the mall across the street and eat Chik-Fil-A
Sunday June 20, 2004 Fathers Day and DWs 40th Birthday
Up and at em fairly early, cards exchanged and were on the road at 8:30 am
Stopped at McDonalds for lunch and arrived at HHIR at 2:00 pm Got checked in with a Welcome Home!
Our room wasnt ready so the CM took my Cell number and called us when it was (about 3:30 pm). Unloaded our bags to room 1137 (1BR) in the Live Oak Lodge. Loved the room and the decorations. DWs birthday basket (ordered on Friday) was waiting for her and she was very happy with it. View of Broad creek and resort was very nice. Condition of room was very good. Went to dinner at Alexanders and then stopped into the Beach house afterwards for a quick look at the ocean and the pool. Went back to the resort in time for the campfire. Lots of fun and the smores were good too. A bit too crowded around the fire roasting marshmallows, but people were careful and no poked eyes.
Monday June 21, 2004 thru Wed June 23,2004
Sleep in a little, then down to Ben & Stretches, then get ready to go to the Beach, then lunch, pool, relax
We were very pleased at how close the Beach house is to the resort Just a very quick drive and no traffic whatsoever. The privacy of Palmetto Dunes was nice too.
DS did Gyotaku and had a good time with painting a fish and getting his shirt.
Went on the Dolphin Cruise and this was very cool. Captain Scott took us out and we saw many dolphins and Blackbeard came right up to our boat twice to check us out!
Thursday June 25, 2004 Check out at 10:30 and back on the road to Asheville, spent the night and drove home on Friday.
All in all a very very relaxing vacation and just what we needed before our relocation to Missouri next month. After staying in the spacious 1BR, we are so pleased with our DVC purchase. We look forward to planning our next trip and will definitely stay at HHI again.
