Just back from Eastern Cruise

It was terrific! Having been to Castaway Cay before, I didn't mind missing it as much, although I didn't get to mail all the postcards I had bought at other ports.

The comment cards at the end of the cruise should separate the server from the assistant server, instead of asking us to rate them as a team. We had Adrian from England and Ivelina from God knows where, because we never saw her. Ivelina is new, and this was her 3rd week. Adrian has been doing this for 6 years. He was by far the best server I have ever had on any cruise line. Ivelina, on the other hand, was so horrible that I felt sorry for Adrian. She would typically not take our drink orders until halfway through the meal -- many times after the main course had arrived. Refills were non-existant. If I ordered a beer, I was NEVER going to get the brand I ordered. I heard Adrian trying to help her, but it just wasn't going to work. He was usually the one who ended up doing the jobs of both of them. It was pathetic.

Otherwise, the cruise was fabulous. We booked another while on board. Can't wait to go again.

sorry about castaway cay, we were on the western the week before and while we got in...it was way to windy and rainy and they cancelled our excursions.

I don't get it. You totally missed Castaway Cay? What happens then....do you just sail around at sea for that last day or do they drop you off early?

Yes, the captain finds calm waters to cruise in that day if you cannot dock at CC.

The Captain tried 3 times to get us into Castaway Cay but couldn't due to strong currents. Instead, we enjoyed a day at sea. I was crushed that we didn't make it there, but DCL is to be commended on the great job they did of having a contingency plan in place. We had new modified Navigators very quickly with fun activities. Again, I was disappointed, but Disney did make the best with what they had and we did too. It turned out to be a nice day!

Glad to hear you had a great time despite missing CC. This also happened to us this past September, we weathered it well, And spent a great day at sea.
