We were at Hard Rock Hotel for 2 nights, then Dolphin for 3, Wonder cruise, then back to Dolphin.
I first have to say that Hard Rock is the best hotel I have ever stayed at. The beds are the best, the pool is awesome, and front-of-the-line is the greatest thing since sliced bread!
Anyway, forgive my rambling. Back to the Dolphin. It is a beautiful hotel. We got an upgrade both before and after the cruise with our starwood card. We had just reserved a standard room, and got a balcony with view of the boardwalk and boat dock. We got the refillable mugs and used them often (no barcodes, by the way). I really liked the theming here. The big downside for us was the beds. After all, all you are in your room for is to sleep. They were awful. Motel 6's have to be better.
All in all, I probably won't stay here again, because there are so many other resorts I haven't tried yet. Definately not before they do an overhaul on the beds.
Just a tip, though. Try to get the west wing. It seems to be closest to everything. On the day after the cruise we requested 1st floor (per a suggestion on this boards). We had room 1186 and loved the location. Just a few yards from both Tubbie's and the pool.
Oh, one annoyance on the pool. They closed it twice because it "looked like rain was coming". One of the times, it didn't rain. No lighting, just dark clouds. What was with that?
