To anyone going soon...WEAR 34 LAYERS OF CLOTHES...no joke you will die if you dont!!!!:lmao: I have NEVER felt cold like that in my life!!!..my camera wouldn't work some days it was that cold...I went on the dumbos and the seats had a layer of ice and frost on it..I tried to scrape it off but I had to sit down on it..I had thermal leggings and jeans and I swear it burnt my butt and legs...think sticking your tongue in the freezer and it sticking it was like that....:sad2:

I won't be doing a trip report but I might pop over to leave a few pics.

The holiday was really good, can't fault it really..(apart from the weather)..

we went to cafe mickey and had a birthday cake..was brilliant, Jade also got picked to go up and dance to freedom!
Paul was on stage with the Tam Tams...was funny as anything!!

I got to see and say hi to Steve and his lovely family!..was really nice seeing them!

The free dining in my opinion is the best thing yet...what a great idea!!!

Coming home was a nightmare....because Air France had to cancel some flights a day or 2 before our flight they had to put us on stand by...not knowing when we would come home..they offered us 800 Euros, a free hotel for the night and free food but I wanted to come home...and to cut along story short because of that we delayed the flight by 40 minutes because once they were all boarded we had to wait ages to see if the last 2 people were coming.....but they didn't and we got on.....nightmare..people on the plane hated us but I couldn't care less by that point!..then about to take off the pilot cut all engines and decided the plane need de iced!!!!...:lmao: ..(there is heaps more to the stand by thing and I'm writting a letter of complaint to head office about the staff) I have no problem with being on stand by the staff are ignorant!

THEN we got to to Edinburgh and they have LOST our suitcase..the kids costumes are in there....and all the stuff we bought!!!!..hope we get it back!:sad2:

So all in all awesome holiday but DISNEY really need to get their act together and make the place non slip, near broke my leg 6 times in one day I was scared to walk!...Ariels Eric fell right on his butt too!

but seriously anyone going soon..wrap up because its not nice out there right now...it burns your skin!

Yep it certainly was cold wasn't it?! Glad you got home OK (but hope they get your cases!!)...we didn't realise how lucky we were to get home on the eurostar with no problems, my mum only told me this morning that 4 trains were cancelled that day. Plus we had no idea the snow was so bad since it wasn't snowing at DLRP and of course you are so cut off from news, so getting to Ashford and driving back to the Midlands was rather a surprise. After a freezing February trip and this one, we've decided we definitely won't go at this time of year again. We had a lovely time overall but the cold was bitter and DS hates to be cold.

:scared1:

We've got proper base layer thermals, skisuits (for the kiddies), skigloves, skiboots and hats etc, so I'm hoping we'll be okay. We're leaving tomorrow morning, giving us the whole day to drive from Lincs to Folkestone -probably stopping at Lakeside Decathlon en route to buy some salopettes for me. :rotfl2: OVernighting tomorrow night at the Premier Inn right opposite the Chunnel entrance then a quick drive across on Monday morning and through the tunnel.

Glad it wasn't too bad, here's hoping they'll have salted the paths.

Glad you got home safe Katrina, i know i shouldn't laugh but Eric fell over :lmao:

I hear ya!! :rotfl2:

I really hope you get your suitcase back too, while I shudder at the cold reports (I know exactly how cold it gets form last year, hence extra expense and summer form now on) I'm glad you had a good trip! I'd have taken the money and hotel/food by the way :rotfl:

Paul was wanting to take the hotel and money too!!!:lmao: Thing was we got there early and thought that would be a good thing but no matter what we chose we had to wait at departures til we knew if we could get on or not..I swear she said 100% we were going to a hotel and that was when everyone was boarded...then 3 mins later she was like...run...you have seats...we were a long way from he plane!!!:lmao:..thing with airfrance...even when they are having a good day...they would put a 4 year old at the back of the plane and the 3 of us at the front and not think anything of it!!!!...there is a lot to be said for easy jet...they certainly know how to treat their customers..and they are cheaper!!!!:lmao:

If you are going soon...have something to cover your face!..my son has burnt cheeks..they are very red and so is his chin..when we went we had snow too which was nice but it was still baltic!!!:rotfl:

Yeah Emma the poor lad got up faster than he went down!!!haha!...wish I had my camera and warm batteries to make it work!!!!lol

on one of the days I had my gloves off to take 2 photos....and I seriously couldn't get the camera in the bag, I was shouting to paul to get my gloves!!!..I swear I thought my fingers were goin to snap off!!!

I might get slated for this but chrismas season IS NOT a patch on Halloween season...halloween knocks spots off it!!....there wasn't the same atmosphere....don't get me wrong it was lovely and all that but halloween is the way to go...the christmas season is the same as the cheapy january dates but they wear santa hats and play xmas music...defo not worth the extra you have to pay!

Sweetiepie..that should be ok what they are wearing but something to cover their face too......it seriously burns quite badly...even a scarf or something???

I think thats me done for winter holidays now....its not worth it...I had 3 pairs of thermal socks on and a pair of walking boot type things and my feet were still cold!!!:lmao:

mind you where I live its saying temps are going to drop to minus 20.....I'm not going to cope with that!!!!:lmao::lmao:Its been snowing here for about a month!!!

Glad to hear you got there, and got back Katrina :goodvibes - this weather has everything up in the air at the moment doesn't it???

If I had to wear more than 3 layers, I'd be saying no more winter trips too - that cold is a truly scary prospect for me :scared1:.

We're all going to have our favourite seasons at DLP - I wonder if you saw everything though that was dedicated to the Christmas season this year? Its just that I thought there was far more going on for Christmas season than I've seen before - the tree-lighting, Fantillusion, castle-lighting, Snow White show, Santas area at Woodys Roundup etc - I thought it was all breathtaking  (and it was the cheapest trip I've ever had to The Magic ;))

DD had that on her cheeks and chin too...has gone now. When I got home I discovered these scarf things I'd bought last year which are circles that go over their head, and they could have pulled them up over their faces. Was kicking myself.
Try to get hotties as well if you're going soon, they really made a difference for DS in his gloves.

Welcome home :wave2:

Although the weather sounds very cold it does not appear to have spoiled your DLP trip :goodvibes

Looking forward to seeing some photos :)

Welcome home :goodvibes
I was wondering how you'd managed with the snow and all and thanks for the heads up on the extreme cold, I don't feel I've overreacted now with the amount of thermals, hats, scarves, gloves, hand and foot warmers I've already packed.
Fingers crossed that your luggage turns up and glad that you managed to enjoy DLP despite the Arctic conditions. :thumbsup2

I am hoping that in the next 3 weeks the temps go up a couple of degree's,

Especially as at this point I have no coat that will do up over pregnant belly...:scared1:

Kirsten

Welcome back - glad you had a good trip. Thanks for all the advice regarding the cold - have packed extra scarves etc.:banana::banana:

I don't think we will be going again in Winter, November wasnt too bad but i've ruled out any more January trips.

DLRP were doing a roaring trade in hats and gloves. DH & I debated about buying hats on the first day (had brought 2 each for the kids but none for us - I don't do hats!) but it's just as well we did as by the second day we would have needed them for sure. At minimum 10 euros a pop it must have helped DLRP into a profit for once!

welcome back

well done for sticking it out i dont think i could deal with temps that low. i have to agree with you about the christmas season. it didnt do it for me to be honest. i am hoping to go back for halloween this year, that is a season they do very well, they just seem to get the right mood.

i really hope you get your luggage back

cant wait to see some pics

We were there for new year and fully agree, the cold was like nothing ive felt there! We nearly gave up at about half ten on new years eve!!

:goodvibes

Wow that does sound cold - ice on the seats :scared1: I have been at Halloween and in January - found Halloween enormous fun, hope I enjoy February as much, and that the temps have gone up a bit by then!

i hope the temps get better too! we are there 31st jan! have my ski trousers ready and the kids too, know it will be bitter though!

poppyolivia we are in nairn - its baltic isnt it! cant believe its been snow for 3 weeks! and it was freezing week before that!!!

youve got me worried now - I though going to disney was better than here!! :rotfl:

Welcome back :wave2:

My goodness, if you found it cold how would a Soft Southerner like me cope?? :rotfl: I found it cold the Christmas we went and it was only -8 then.

I loved being there for Christmas and seeing all the beautiful decorations but have no wish to go back at that time of year again ~ I much preferred Halloween too, I don't know whether it's because the emphasis is on fun or whether it's because you can enter the shops/restaurants/restrooms without having to battle everyone sheltering from the cold and do your shopping/eat your meal etc without having to take a thousand layers of clothing off!

I'm sorry you won't be doing a trippie :sad2: but will let you off if you post some photos!! :goodvibes

thanks for all the comments guys..a big wave to 'Nairn girl'!!!haha!!! It is baltic eh I was terrified to come home to burst pipes but so far so good!!!!;)

I thought I would come back on and say that the trip was great it wasn't rubbish or anything, the cold was an absolute killer....thats no joke! I agree we all have our favourite seasons..christmas is lovely and we saw everything as far as I know....but it cost £1000 more than a cheap wk!!!...it wasn't worth it for us...but thats cool I've learnt my lesson!!haha!...I was looking at old january photos and the kids have jeans on and a normal jackets and the sun is shining..not warm but not like we had so it must be a bad year thats all! I remember jan 09 walking about with my jacket open!

This year I had on thermal long sleeved top, a tshirt, a hoody, a artic fleece and a ski jacket and it was still cold!!! I would hate for any of you to get across there and not be prepared, better to take too much! The amount of people I saw buying jackets therewas mad!...(and the prices):scared1:

I also had salopettes that I wore now and again....I looked like a fat cowboy though and getting on rides was hard!!!:lmao::lmao:

Even the CMs looked miserable most of the time...no wonder though can't blame them...maybe I shouldn't compare it to halloween as Im sure if it had been warmer I would have felt different???????:confused3..there just didn't seem that much more than a cheap wk thats all.

Im thinking if they did the REAL cheapness like last time, remember it was like WAY cheap?????? Then I WOULD consider Janaury again...cause I like a bargain!!:lmao: But other than that no, I'm sticking to defrosted days!:thumbsup2
