I absolutely loved it!! It was only two of us, my grandson and I, so storage was not a problem. The beds are so comfy. I went to bed every night ater watching fireworks from the balcony. Waking up each morning to the sounds of the Magic Kingdom coming to life was priceless. Sometimes we walked to MK and some times we took the monorail. The bus system was excellent. Can't wait to go back.

Exactly where was the location of your room? Did you stay concierge? Your description makes me want to stay there, when normally, my sister and I never think about CR!!!

How fantastic to have that special time with your grandson. Welcome back. :)

You aren't helping! lol... We're booked 8/18-23 at CR. I'm busy keeping it a secret from my two little boys, and it's getting so hard to keep it under wraps. I want the time to fly so fast!

So glad you had a wonderful time w/ your gs! Thanks for sharing the good vibes.

Isn't the CR great? I don't think it deserves the negative reviews that it gets. How is the construction coming along? What did the lobby look like? How's the new location for the food court? Did you eat at the Concourse Steakhouse? Has the Fantasia gift shop re-opened? Didn't you LOVE walking to the MK early in the AM? DId you walk back at night? That's enjoyable too. So glad you had a great time there. Such a fun place.

We love the CR. We've stayed 3x since 2004 and always get a MK view. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for DVC to happen there.

I can't wait to get there Aug28-Sept2, free dining too!!!!It will be our first stay at Contemporary. Loved AKL and CSR but decided to stay Contemporary this time because of the heat and the monorail is a quick escape to our room from Magic Kingdom and Epcot...that's where we'll spend most of our time this trip.:goodvibes :cool1:

Let me see if I can answer all these questions.

First let me say that this has been a dream of mine since it was first built to stay here facing the castle. We were on the 7th floor room 4326. It was the next to the last room the farthest away from MK. Could still see everything just fine. The pictures of the rooms do not do justice. This may seem weird but when you are sitting on the toilet and looking at the wallpaper, it gives this unique light reflection. I don't know how to explain it. It is really cool. Also, if you have only the lights on around the mirrors, it is also cool. The mosiac beneath the TV lights up. We discovered this a few days into the trip. I also really liked the reading lights over each side of the beds. They can be dimmed as low as you want. Oh, there is a mirror that goes across the wall up over the sofa. You can see the reflection of the Castle in it. We also had a computer with internet access, still free.

Never paid a whole lot of attention to the construction. The big crane catches yor eye but did not notice much going on.

The lobby is very spacous and modern. The CMs there were really nice and helpful. Never seemed crowded.

The food court seemed small, but efficient. There is only one counter to order food and sometimes it was backed up.

We ate at Concourse one night. Having heard so much good stuff I was really excited. However, I was disappointed in the steak. I will probably try it again. Right now I prefer LeCellier. That steak could not be beat.

In reference to the gift shop, we went to the one that was partially in a room and partially out in the lobby whichever one that is.

My next dream is to stay concierge. There were times when I would have liked to have just gone into the lounge for a quick breakfast or snack.

And yes, we did walk at night some. The way the whole place is lit up is beautiful especially the blinking lights on the trees.

This trip was a one on one trip with my 11 year old grandson. Next year will be one with my 9 year old but he is a real animal lover so we will stay at AKL. I even had him over to see the fireworks from the balcony (the rest of the family was at WL). He still wants AKL!! I have a third grandson to work on to get back to CR.

Whew!! Anothing else? I could go on and on about the CR.

We love the CR. We've stayed 3x since 2004 and always get a MK view. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for DVC to happen there.

My daughter and family went on a fishing excursion one morning and she asked the guide about the contrtuction and DVC. He laughed and said that was the most well known top secret around.

It just felt like we were not constantly on the road. We went back to our room almost every day around noon. We would hit MK late afternoon or night.

Thanks for the great report. I take my 8 yo grandson to WDW also. Would love to book CR some time, especially after hearing how much you liked it. AKL is also on the list as he is an animal lover too.

Loved your comment about sitting on the toilet. :lmao:

Sounds like you had a wonderful time. It's so nice to be able to share these trips with the grandkids.

Welcome Back!!!
You mention that the bus transportation was good. We'll be staying at CR 8/18 - 8/27 and that is my only worry. We will only be going to AK and MGM twice each, but was wondering if I should get taxi's or not. Was it that good?

You are one :cool1: grannie!

It's always been a dream of ours to stay there too (think that for those of a certain generation;) it symbolizes WDW:thumbsup2 ).

We treasure our few days there last Oct., especially the view of the MK; hope to return soon!

We usually waited only a few minutes. We would share with Poly and/or GF but we were always the first stop coming back. We had really good luck.

Thanks Judy! We have 2 nights there in Nov as a splurge. We can't wait since it's only monorail resort we haven't tried. Now your review has made me more sure we made the right decision!

Thank you so much for your report. We'll be there from August 25 to the 30th and really CANNOT WAIT. My 14 year old DS absolutely loves this resort. He thinks he's living high on the hog.

It sounds as if work is progressing without being either disruptive or unsightly to the guests which, IMO, was my major concern.

So glad you had a great time. What a cool grannie you are.
