Let me start by saying this is the first time I've stayed offsite, ever, but it was a last minute trip for 3 days over Christmas, and we couldn't justify the onsite holiday room rates. That said, the Grosvenor Resort in DTD was fine, we had a tower room that suited our needs, and the commute to the parks was not bad at all. The decorations in the parks and resorts were beautiful, and the snowfall they created on mainstreet Christmas Eve was great. Dinner at Boma was once again fantastic, just love that place. Now, would I stay offsite again? Most likely not. I don't want to sound pretentious, it's just that WDW for me is a once a year vacation, and it's a big one at that, and since my first trip as a kid in "72", it's always been about the Polynesian as well as the parks, and if I'm spending the money, I want it to feel like I'm "there". For me their was a big part of the magic missing. Christmas was beautiful but the crowds at the MK were just overwhelming, and we were only there on Christmas Eve, we did EPCOT on the 25th, and it was probably as empty as I've ever seen it. We really did have a great time, and I'm glad we went, but it's gotta be onsite from now on.

If you stayed at the Grosvenor, or any of the downtown Disney resorts, you were staying ON site, not off. You weren't staying at a Disney owned resort, but you were on the Disney property. :)

Hey whadda ya know, I was onsite all along. I guess I just missed being at the Poly, and I definitely missed the convenience of the monorail.
