Just back from CBR

We stayed at CBR in Dec. 05, and were not happy with our stay. This did not ruin our trip, but my dh stated he'd never go back. Our room was in serious need of repair, not dirty, but used very hard. The food was hit and miss, although our girls loved the meals in the sand bucket(not sure if they still do this)I enjoyed the hammocks. The bus service was a nightmare. Now, I understand they've refurb the pool, which looks nice. I don't care for the pirate themed rooms, but I understand I'm one of the few that don't. With this being said, I respect the opinions of those who love CBR. To each his own. I've haven't stayed at CSR, so I can't comment on the resort. I have seen Buzz's pictures, and folks, pictures don't lie. The place looks gorgeous and the new rooms look like they don't belong in a moderate resort. They look so "plush". We had planned to spend 10 nights here this Dec. but we were able to snag a great deal at Dolphin, so we're doing a split stay. Buzz, I enjoy your pictures, and find your site very helpful in my planning. Please keep posting, as its a pleasure to look at them. Why there must be an ongoing battle between the two is beyond me. I love love love LOVE CBR!!!! It is so relaxed and beautiful and the food court is good. (But - I haven't been there in years - so I haven't seen what many of the changes have been) We would love to stay there again for our next trip - but because of financial resasons - it's looking more like a value resort will have to do.

I definately recommend it!

Also - sorry to stir the pot on the fake posting thing... But did anyone ever think that people give fake reviews saying that they hate a resort, because they actually love it and they want it to be less crowded when they are there? Just a thought... Not saying that it's right - but it may make a little more sense.

Now THAT is an interesting idea and who knows, you may be on to something for for some maybe. Guess I need to go create a few more screen names so I can have the resort of choice to myself. Honestly, the CBR/CSR rivalry is beyond silly and I pity the newbies who come on asking info about them.

OP - I am sorry about your stay and that the CM's were less than helpful. I have had a couple of of issues with a couple of stays, but it is what it is and as mentioned, every resort has their bad times.

Yes, VERY true! To all resort guests, if anything is unacceptable about your room upon arrival or anytime during your stay please call or visit the front desk/maintenance and voice your complaints. Give them a chance to correct the problem before having a final opinion about the resort. We had a horrible room at the Poly a few years back and even after they corrected the problems it did make me a bit leary of the resort...but we gave it another chance and returned last year and had a fabulous room/customer service. The OP did contact the management so I do feel their opinions of CBR are justified because the problems were not corrected. Did CBR ever refund your money?

I am sorry but pictures are not the same thing. I have been on these boards for a few years and have seen numerous posts by people who stated they were sucked in by BUZZ's pics, and it did not live up to them. I am not saying don't stay there ,the rooms do look lovely, but a picture can not give you a real sense of the place. Do not be fooled it is a moderate.

I understand not caring for CBR, I liked it but still it felt like a motel. If the theme interests you go for it. It is hard to base it by the majority on these boards because like previous posts it is fixed and I swear some of these people get some kind of bonus for posting about thier favorite resort.

I am not saying don't stay there ,the rooms do look lovely, but a picture can not give you a real sense of the place. Do not be fooled it is a moderate.

Actually, we were one of those sucked in by Buzz's pictures and we've now stayed seven times. The pictures we saw was everything we saw when we first stayed there and still do. And we prefer it over most of the deluxes. I think it just comes down to a matter of personal taste.

We have stayed at the Poly numerous times--the most recent was 2004 for our son's high school graduation. We had stayed at the CSR prior to the Poly and have stayed at it every trip since 2004. Truthfully, we prefer the moderate as you don't feel like you are top of people all of the time, the buildings are not on top of one another and it is much more peaceful and serene. We have never stayed at the CBR but it is similar in size to the CSR and I know that people have said it is more peaceful and not as crowded feeling as well. I'm sure you'll be fine. The one thing that might bother you is the outdoor walkways as opposed to the inside corridors.

Well now I certainly was not referring to you. I don't think anyone on this board does not know how you feel about CSR. Personally I thought it was you who everyone was referring to about the multiple names. Sorry you are offended but you do post every two seconds when it comes to anything about CSR or a mod. Now don't get me wrong you have that right! However don't think that it is not going to get on other peoples nerves.

You aren't the only one. And as I informed the original poster about the numerous names that I am offended by the number of inquiries sent to me asking if I was the one. I can tell you it is NOT me. And yes, I do respond to every CSR thread as it is my favorite resort. But my days here are numbered because I've just about had it with the insinuations and insults.

peyjax, you've made my day. I've always been told that pictures don't lie, so when I feel I look a little "chubby" in our pictures, maybe I'm not. Seriously, I chose CSR for the queen beds, theme, and for the food court. My dh loves the idea of staying somewhere where he might see men in ties, just to remind him that he won't be in one for a couple weeks, silly but true. I also believe our oldest dd will appreciate the beauty of CSR a little better. CBR in our opinion has very limited food choices.

We didn't love CBR either, but had none of your experiences. Our room was clean, mousekeeping did a good job, and I thought the resort was very pretty. We ate at Shutter's once and all of us got steak. I checked around on the dining thread and it looked like that's what everyone enjoyed there. It was pretty good.

My problem is that I've been spoiled by the Polynesian I just love it there and nothing else compares!

Same here. Last year we ruled out CSR based on what was on DIsney's web site and stayed at POFQ. After seeing the pics on Buzz's web site and being able to read all of the info about the resort, we fell in love with it. Just got back on the 16th and we simply loved our stay at CSR - it was everything his pictures and site said it was.
