Just Back from CBR

I just got home from 6 days at CBR and LOVED it! Had a nice corner room in Barbados was a little worried it was so far from Old Port Royal but the walk was only 4 or 5 min and was a nice energy drainer to let my almost 2 year old walk. My DH was talking to a CM and he said at the end of the month the main pool will be going down for refubishment they will be making the pool MUCH bigger they will have to move the bannana cabanna and all the pools will have a alcohol cart and they it will all be a pirates of the Carribean theme and some rooms will also be updated. He said this will take about a year and a half IF you have any questions feel free to ask I will do my best to answer. Oh one more thing you can see the fireworks from epcot! My son enjoyed them very much!

I thought the same thing. We are going at the beginning of Nov and I wasn't worried because it wasn't suppose to start until Jan. Anyone know for sure?

The CM wasnt 100% sure but he thought it was the end of this month or next month he could have been wrong though. HOpe you guys find out for sure!

I'm so glad you had a pleasant stay at the CBR. We really enjoyed both of our stays there. I think the new themed pool will be great and will be looking forward to another stay so we can check it out.

As a FL resident, I did not have a great first time connection with CBR as the theming wasn't all that different from what we see everyday. However, it was also my first time at a moderate and I have since grown to like the resort. Glad you liked it. BTW, I knew a Devon back in the 80's in Plantation. Do you have a brother named Duff?

Where is the best spot to watch the fireworks from? me and mine want to do a sunset picnic on a beach area.

I see that SafetyMom had put on here that the pool was closing in Jan., I really hope that the info about next month is incorrect as we are going in Dec. and the kids really are looking forward to the pool at OPR.

We just got back from CBR on Saturday and booked our trip for 9/08 for free dining and were told by CM that the CBR main pool will be under refurbishment still in September 2008

How was your room? Did you find that it was starting to look a little worn? We stayed there in 2003, and even though we enjoyed our stay there I thought the rooms were showing a little wear and tear (i.e. stains on the carpet, curtains looked worn, etc.,). We had a corner room in Martinique, and could even see the fireworks laying on our bed. I like the size of the rooms and would love to stay there again; just a little worried about the wear and tear of the rooms. If they are remodeling the rooms, that is a good thing.

I was there the same week (maybe even seen you Devon?), and was told by one of the managers the rehab is starting in january.

Tina, I didn't see any wear and tear. Must say I wasn't looking for it, but I would have noticed it. I was in room 3107, North Trinidad. Only thing that I could notice was the floor not being total levelled between the room and bathroom. They tried to make a ramp with concrete -or so I think-, so the floor is now going uphill/downhill. Bit of a shame with the rest of the room easy enough to get 'round with a chair, but oh well.

The firework is great for CBR. Not only a good view, but also a nice alarmclock. Around 9 pm you'll definately know it's going on if you happen to be inside, you'll hear it!
