Just returned from CBR.
I had an excellent room in Martinique 25 second floor water view.(what was nice was the view, you couldn't see buildings across the lake)--close to the Old Port Royale.
I won't do a day by day synopsis, but just overall musings(if you are looking for "everything was PERFECT stop reading, I call a spade a spade)....

Dennis from YourRide.net.....EXCELLENT DRIVER to and from the airport.

Shutters.... Overpriced, but the food was fair. I had the jerk chicken(A breast, a thigh, windey green beans) not as spicy as I thought. DH can't remember what he had (uh oh)

Food court ... very boring food that one would normally eat if too tired to drive or bus elsewhere. The pizza was awful, maybe it was just the terrible sausage. Well, the gulls loved it!
...another thing...those ducks are beggers like a DOG!!!!! LOL!
Oh, and did you know a gull can swallow a Hostess Ding Dong WHOLE??? Really, I saw it!!! Does feeding a gull a piece of chicken strip make him an abomination?????

Cheerleaders were around the first few days, the rudest were the CA ones that pushed their way in front of people at the food court.(how did I know? They had their HAYWARD CA stuff on)

I feel sorry for people who get any buildings other than Martinique or Trinindad North. As the week rolls on, walking after getting back from the Parks HURTS!!!

Towel animals - we got them EVERY DAY. Sometimes with notes saying, "we missed you"...One day our large dinosaur doll was attacking our stuffed Eeyore.

Fantasmic.... no, you do not need a dinner pass...just walk in 30 min prior. I liked it better than Illuminations. Actually, I liked the muical fountaing at Epcot better than Illuminations.

Buses--- very short waits. I just wish there were buses between resorts. And why the CBR bus stops are always the furthest from the exits just boggles me. Comment: the Bus drivers need to pull the wheelchair ramps down quicker, there were many people who were using Wheelchairs and some of the bus drivers really had problems.

Hoop de Doo Review -- don't do it unless you are prepared for the long travel times (bus to Park, boat to Fort Wilderness....boat to park--- bus to Resort.) it wastes time. Show was okay, we were two tables from the stage, my 5 year old laughed.

Cinderella Breakfast:
Only princesses there were Cinderella and Snow White. The others were pretenders (pochohantas and Mary Poppins). It was okay, making me wonder what the fuss was over the 60 day out reservations.

Ohana breakfast: This was nice, Goofy, Chip and Dale and Mickey were very available, food was great, atmosphere was nice too.

Garden Grille Ice Cream Social : requested re hitching, remeinded host as we checked in... They forgot. Oh well, that restaurant was as deserted and the desert scene in THE LAND.

Characters:
My oh my, Was it me, or is Pluto everywhere??? So is Chip, and we only saw Dale once.
We saw Donald once, Daisy never.
At Epcot, twice we had characters placed in the Leave A Legacy monolith are. It was also where the rudest parents I have ever seen. We were in line for Mary Poppins and some CAST MEMBER pushes us out of the way so some Mentally Challenged kid in a electric cart could go in front of us. Heck, what was I supposed to do, I pulled my daughter back to the side. and we waited. They pulled off then some guy runs up and has his picture taken. I glared at him and them pushed my DD up to Mary Poppins. And SHE goes "THE LINE IS OVER THERE, THOSE PEOPLE ARE NEXT" I ran up and SCREAMED at Miss Prissy Poppins, "No EXCUSE **ME***, Your dear CAST MEMBER pushed us out of the way to accomodate the child in the scooter, she knows we were next and WE WERE next and you WILL sign my kids book and pose for a picture! Man if she wouldn't have I would have has a fit on her asking her what NERVE she had IMPERSONATING a princess and everyone knows she isn't one, even my 5 year old knew that. LOL, sometimes you just have to give her a spoonful of her own sugar!!

Other than that, the rest were great, Goofy in all places was great.

Coral Island Cafe in the Living Seas.... the seafood is wonderful there.

Kona Cafe ---- Do breakfast there...no one can imitate their tonga toast. and the coffee press pots ....yes!!!! Kona Coffee!!!

Boma- Oh, what a nice selection of food in their buffet. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Yakitori House - Japan ...hidden away, counter service, good food. (I'm half Japanese so this is more authentic than the tourist trap Benihana grill show restaurant)

Lotus Blossom Cafe - China ---Want a quick counter service, where you can pull it outside and watch Illuminations? This is the place...excellent food.

NOTE: WE BOYCOTTED FRANCE DUE TO HOW THEIR COUNTRY SNUBS THEIR NOSE UP AT THE U.S. and dissess our President... it was the American thing to do I guess. We just walked on by... If you want pastry, buy a funnel cake at the American Adventure.
(my political comment, brought on by the endless mantra of "duck tape, Plastic sheeting.... duck tape, plastic sheeting" that was on every non Disney Channel on the TV...... )

Rides:

We loved Test Track the most. The second time we rode it, it stopped for a long time...making me wonder "I wonder who is stuck in the heat test and cold test section of the ride?"

I didn't do Aerosmith' s coaster because DD wasn't tall enough I didn't want to hear the whining.
Tower of Terror - Overrated.
Dinosaur - zips by....I wasn't impressed.
Otherwise, we did everything else except Alien Encounter, and Backlot Tour. Millionaire wasn't on when we were there.
Splash Mountain, the Brer animals were uncomfortably UN politically correct for me.
Kali River Rapids... you will get wet, if you do NOT want to get wet...wear a raincoat.

Best Animatronics : The American Adventure... Makes one proud to be an American.

Journey into Imagination...I liked the old one better.... Eric Idle is MONTY PYTHON, I can't get over that.
(ho ho hee tee hee hee..Eric the half a bee or Spam Spam Spam Spam Spam)

FastPasses....use them...OFTEN.

Ice Station Cool...Beverly Sucks. They don't even have good wine in that country, so I am not surprised. Kids around me like the Watermelon one... I like the Japanese one. I hated the sticky floors!!!!!!

Note: Once a parade starts...you can't cross it's path.

Cute park opening spiel for the Magic Kingdom...the Mayor comes out, the characters arrive on the train...nice way to start the day.

I'm sorry, but Food Rocks made me laugh.

The Safari is great in the morning...don't miss it at the AK.

Keep track of the pins of your lanyards, the rubber backs sometimes come loose, we dropped one, and lost another.....

Speaking of pins... this will always stick in my head as the funniest and maybe the most pathetic thing...
If you have ever seen the Simpsons...there is a total GEEK that runs the Comic Book store.....
Well, in Downtown Disney, there are people outside the pintrading store that I was laughing so hard inside at. My daughter wanted to trade a pin, and these geeky middleaged men and women were examining it, turning it over... I hear comments like "Oh, that aint worth anything, try trading with a CAST MEMBER who doesn't know anything..." " Oh, that was bought at a DISNEY STORE, not worth anything, I won't trade for that in a million years..." "That pin was just issued, not worth anything"
All I could think was " What losers, if they ever got a life it could mean the end of the world." AND THEY WERE BARGAINING WITH A FIVE YEAR OLD!!!!!!!!! Make sure you experience the PinGeeks yourself at DD...and make sure they don't try trading a round button for a pin like these LOSERS tried to do "this is a bigger pin, don't you want this one instead for your trade?"
Geeky middled aged living in mommies basement pin geeks. I want to warn people against them. Just buy pins there, ignore THEM like the plague...maybe they will go away??? I hope they don't work for Disney!

  :jester:

Weather: Cloudy and cold and rainy first few days, cleared up, temps in the high 60's Nice Park weather, bad swimming weather...used the pool once...yes it was nice and toasty. Tip: Swim in the pool first THEN use the hot tub....boy does the pool feel cold if you do it the other way.!!!!!

Met some nice people, many were east coast people escaping the snow....can't blame them!!!!!! :D

Well that's it for now, I have had my fill of Disney for a long time.....after pounding the pavement for 7 days, I feel less rested now...oh well...I have hours and hours of tape and hundreds of Digital photos to bide the time to spring......

I hope everyone has agreat time when they go, and oh, MAGIC KINGDOM IS BUSY ON SATURDAYS.... everything else is gravy!!!!

Annette

Kudos to the clerk in Japan that ran after me with my credit card that I left on top of her register!!!!!! Thank You!! Thank You!!!!

Note to STEPHANIE(Goofy)
I found your castmember pin on the ground outside one of the parks and turned it in to another castmember. Someone told me to keep it and sell it on eBay, but I believe I would be cursed if I did that.

;)

If you don't drink it all, give the rest to nice family in the next room!!!!!!!

Glad to hear you really enjoyed your dinner at Boma's - I have eaten here twice and can't wait to go again - thanks for posting!

Oh yes, I forgot we ate at the 50s Prime Time and it was GREAT!!!
I didn't eat all my vegetables and our waiter Mickey cut up the green beans and tried to shove them in my face. And you could hear NO ELBOWS ON THE TABLE being yelled often!!!! LOL!!!

I had a flash back with your Mary Poppins incident. We went to Conservation Station, we just turned the corner and I said, "Look there is Rafaki." The CM with Rafaki bite my head off and yelled at me, "THE LINE IS OVER THERE!" We didn't even want to meet Rafaki, I was only pointing him out as we literately walked into him as we turned the corner. That CM was very rude. I will have to try Boma's! S

You have me re-thinking these reservations for our late March/early April trip. We do have our own car - would that have made the Hoop more enjoyable???? Or is it just not worth the $$$??? Thanks for any advice...

The show was fine. But if you have small kids, the wait for the buses and boats especially right after the show was long.

Annette

AnnetteWI,
Your trip report was great! You sure tell it like it is! I belly laughed several times. I cannot wait to look for the middle-aged, live in their Mommie's basement, pin-trader geeks! Sounds a little like the guys that go around fixing the streets at Universal. Only those funny guys are paid actors! Don't the middle-aged geeks ever go enjoy Disney, or do they just stand around trading pins and putting down 5 yr. olds? I'm slightly prejudiced, since I teach Kindergarten!!
Well, I truly enjoyed your report! Will be laughing for some time to come!

You know, I don't even know if the pingeeks were employees of the store. they were right outside the store and had album books of pins... the Disney version of the trolls under the bridge!!!

Yes they were the trolls! That's one of my favorite fairy tails! So that must make your 5 yr. old the Littlest Billy Goat Gruff. Does that make you the Big Billy Goat Gruff?
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha
Oh, I hope the Trolls are still there when I go back this year!! I'm not into the "pin trading" but I'd buy one just to see them dicker with me about it! How Funny!

I normally keep my opinions to myself on this site because I feel everyone sees things differently however after reading your trip report, I was really bothered by the above quotes. That seems very harsh and extremely sterotypical considering that you don't know these people. Just because a person has a hobby that doesn't interest you or seems too "geeky" doesn't mean that it's wrong or that they are "losers". It's their time and money and they can do with it what they want. I personally don't pin trade but if I did or had a child that did I wouldn't send them to pin trade with serious pin traders, that is in fact what the cast members are for. To introduce children and new traders to how it all works. Just my two cents, don't want to offend anyone but I felt that the things that you said were very rude and uncalled for.

I don't believe they were castmembers...I would have complained if they were. Comparing them to the Comic Book guy on the Simpsons was in my opinion very accurate. And yes, I was laughing at them because they were trying to rip off and take advantage of a 5 year old. That's not a hobby, that's a sickness.
A castmember always took time to explain what pin trading was all about and was always willing to trade any of their pins with a SMILE.
These pin geeks were all over my DD lanyardlike like flies, flipping the pins over, making comments about how Disney Store pins were worth nothing and saying that castmembers didn't know anything about pins...making comments about brand new pins we purchased were too new and worth nothing...making comments about certain pins were part of a set and worthless because we didn't have the other pieces.
IMHO Disney should not allow these buzzards to stand in front of the doorways to these stores! At first look I thought they were CMs ! They knew exactly what pins of hers that they wanted and tried to trade a cheap round button to her in exchange with comments like "this one is bigger, see?"(hey, wouldn't you like this shiny new penny for your Joe DiMaggigio rookie card?" LOL)
Be offended if you like, They were so beyond hobbyists that they plopped their butts right smack into loser land.
Had I not been standing there who knows, my DD would have been left with a handful of expired FastPasses! Maybe **I'm** the loser, because I should have complained and had their butts permanently banned from Downtown Disney if I realized they weren't CMs. Matter of fact, I will contact someone at Disney this week and complain to the proper parties. I should look back to our videotapes and see if I got their faces on tape to bolster my case. LOL Honestly, you had to be there to believe this. Maybe Disney has no power over the workers and stores at Downtown Disney causing weird things like this to happen.
Pin Geeks...they have been profiled! :p

Oak Creek WI,
Did you ride Splash Mountain and feel offended that the Brer characters were politically incorrect? If I was a black person I would feel offended. I had a hard time laughing at the Bear Fox Rabbit....
Were you offended that I boycotted the France pavillion because they do not support the U.S.?

=========
They were pingeeks, you have to see it to believe it.

Annette WI - No I am not offended by Splash Mountain but I can understand how people would be. The movie wasn't considered politically incorrect at the time though obviously Disney feels that it is now, since they have never released again as they do many times with their other movies. As for you boycotting France, I am not offended by you not shopping or eating there, however I wonder if you think that the money you spend at the France pavillion in EPCOT really makes it's way to FRANCE. I didn't write this to change your opinion, I get the feeling that's not going to happen, I just think that you maybe shouldn't be so quick to rush to judgment about others that you don't really know. Everyone is intitled to a hobby if you don't like the way that they handle themselves, don't trade with them.. Boycott the pin traders you don't like but don't assume they are geeks or LOSERS...

Just my opinion, but anyone who seeks to take advantage of a young child, whether it's their "hobby" or not, is in my opinion, a "loser." Every person should be sensitive to a young child's feelings. Nobody should be treating a child in a rude manner and telling them their pin isn't worth anything. Adults should act like adults. I think their behavior sounded shameful.
Webster defines "geek" (yes, it's in the dictionary) as a person of an intellectual bent, who is disapproved of. Now I don't think we're talking much about intellectual stuff here. It doesn't take a Master's degree to study pin trading. But I think the emphasis should be placed on the word "bent." These persons were so into their pin-trading that they forgot about a young child's feelings. That's why they are disapproved of, hence the adjective "geek" fits, as far as I'm concerned.

I guess the only good thing is that it didn't happen in one of the Disney parks. What is Downtown Disney becoming? International Drive??

To all of you on the east coast...I can't believe the snow you are getting----stay safe and don't overdo it with the shoveling!!

I loved reading both your report and the assorted comments that followed. I have to concur with previous views that taking advantage of a child is, in an and of itself, a loser thing to do. As a former Trekkie, (I'm sad to say I attended many a convention in college) it would be a bit hypocritical to label them as geeky. :D Hopefully they will find the road to recovery . . . or a girlfriend. (That seemed to do the trick for me!) :smooth:

My oh my...things are getting warm in this thread!

Anyway, I had to comment that a couple of weeks ago, we made a PS at Bistro de Paris for our last night...DH comes home one day and says, let's change the PS...I don't want to support the French in any way right now. I thought it was amusing, but kind of true. I don't know how much of the money made at the French pavilion actually goes back to the country of France. Maybe none. I plan on enjoying looking at things in that pavilion, but I kind of agree that I don't feel like plunking down $100 at a French restaurant right now, run by French chefs, who may be perfectly nice people, but whose country, in my ever so humble opinion, is doing wrong by my country. I don't want to start a big huge thing, I just wanted to voice that you're not the only one out there who feels this way. Instead, we are going to eat in Japan, our friend. And yes, we already have a PS with the UK that we're keeping. :p

And, I thought your post about the pin traders was right on....I think some of the pins are cute, heck if I was closer to Disneyland or World and had more $$ to blow, I might even collect some. But I have seen some pretty interesting (crazy) behavior at the local Disney Store when new pins come out- it blows my mind. There was a 50% off all pins sale not too long ago, and people just had baskets full of pins, spending 100's of dollars on them, literally elbowing each other out of the way, not letting other people in for a look-see. I just stood there with my jaw open...again, to each his own, and whatever floats your boat as far as hobbies go...but I agree, I'm so sure that grown adults were trying to rip a child off....that is just beyond lame. And it made me laugh when you tied it into the Simpsons character- it fits. :jester:

Great Biscuit:
Trekkies are not geeks, they are Trekkies!!!!
Heck, I named my DD after a Starship Captain!
Maybe Disney will have holodecks one day!
