Just back from BWV. I fell in love with a handicapped room!

Just back from a great stay at BWV. After spending several days at the beach with family, I spent a week solo at WDW. That was a new experience and I had the best time!

I arrived later than I anticipated. They had no standard studios left, so they had assigned me a preferred room. The only "drawback" was that it was a handicapped room (not my favorite for various reasons), and it was the only studio still available for that first night. So I said "no problem", and decided the room would be great no matter what. They did offer to change my room the next day if I would like to do so.

Well, the location was so perfect that they couldn't have dynamited me out of the room if they'd tried. :p It was #1048, on the first floor facing the Luna Park Pool, and it was the first one in the hallway. (The opposite wing from the workout room and arcade) It was fantastic being just a few footsteps away from both the pool and the Boardwalk. I had to do laundry too, and that was also nice and close. I loved not having to wait for an elevator, I loved zipping back and forth for quick drink refills, I loved it all. OK, I'm starting to gush. You get the picture. ;)

I'd gladly stay in that room anytime. I guess it was lucky for me that I arrived late and wound up with such a nice room. :D

There can always be a silver lining...:D :D

The attitudes of the CMs at the front desk can sometimes have such an impact on your reaction to a HA room. I've gotten a HA room 3 times at WDW. The first 2 times, I was told at the front desk, asked if that was OK, offered to move the next day if I didn't like it, and both times I was delighted with my room (didn't take the offer to move). Then the 3rd time, they didn't tell me at the front desk, then told me that "Well, of course you'll have to pay the room change fee!" when I called minutes after arriving in my room. In that case, I was so unhappy-I think it was partially because I felt the room had been "forced" on me. Glad you enjoyed your solo trip-bet there'll be more to come.

Guess what we had that room last May. We did not need a HC room but it was what they gave us. It was so nice to be able to go back and forth so close to the laundry room and to all the things on the boardwalk. The only thing that I did not like about it is there were no draws in the bathroom, but, what the heck it was a nice room. Did you notice how everything was slightly lower...the sink in the bathroom and the counter in the kitchenette area? It was ok for me but it was a little short for my 6'2" dh. I liked sitting on the patio and watching people at the pool. We were able to go back and forth to the Leaping Libations to get something to eat also with out going down the hall. All in all if I reserved a studio again and they gave us that room I would take it.

I agree...Location is everything! Glad it worked out so well for you. I would love to be as lucky!

Thanks, everyone, for letting me share my excitement about my trip.

Good point, Simba's Mom. The CM was very nice, and attitude goes a long way. I was also determined to try to keep my attitude positive no matter what room I got, which made it all the sweeter when things worked out so well. And you're right, I suspect that I'll be taking more solo trips now and then in the future. I totally enjoyed experiencing WDW on my own for a change. :sunny:

If you can remember the room number and other details about the room, it would likely be a nice addition to the BWV room report compendium being compiled by InstImpres.

How do I go about doing this? Just post the info here? Do I PM InstImpres? Not sure how those room reports get compiled, but I'd be glad to contribute info if I know how to submit it. Thanks for the suggestion!
