Hi -

We're just back from a week stay at BWV (6/21 - 28) in a 1 BR preferred view. The only request I made was non-smoking and we were given room 5094. We absolutely loved the room ! It was in good shape except for a handle on the bathroom door that sometimes stuck.
This is an end room that overlooks Luna Park pool and the stairs to the slide. Yes, it is at the end af the hallway so it's a long walk to the elevator ... but it was very, very quiet because there was no hall traffic at all. It has an extra window since it is on the end of the building ... the window looks out at the canal. We used the stairs right next to the room to come and go to the pool ... worked out great. Also, we had a long balcony with an overhang that was very nice.

Any questions ? I'd be happy to help if I can !

Sounds like you were in one of the dedicated one bedroom units (no connection to a studio to give DVC the flexibility of making it a 2 bedroom unit). We just love those and always request one if we're staying in a one bedroom. In addition to being a little quiter (even when they aren't at the end of the hall), the dedicated one bedrooms often have extra windows, and I happen to think they are just a bit larger than the other one bedroom units. (That might just be my imagination, though, LOL).

Can you give us an update on the rehab project? What parts of the resort still have scaffolding up?

Glad you enjoyed your stay!

did your view also include S&D and to the side view see the TOT?

We would love that area (on 4-5 fl of course) and the walk is nothing:bounce:

DVCindy,

We have never been to BWV, but just purchased there. When we go next year, we will be with several small kids (2 and 4 year olds) and since you mentioned the walk aspect; where is the best place to stay at BWV if we are looking to be close to refreshment areas or maybe even a small store? My kids (and DW) always seem to want/need something we don't have with us, or just ran out of, and I always end up trekking to go get it.

Your advice would be most appreciated:cool:

We are planning to go to WDW in April of next year. The VWL is our home resort, but we want to stay at the BWV. How far in advance did you make your ressie. I was wondering if I should make the ressie at VWL or risk and wait unti the 7 month window starts. We aslo want to get a 1 bedroom unit.

officer tigger,

I wouldn't be the best one to answer that, as I am waiting for the resale that I am buying to close. I am hoping that when it closes (early August) I will still be able to get into a 2 bedroom for late April.

From what I have read on this board, if you are looking to go at a busy time (like Easter or Christmas) it is better to book at your home resort using the 11 month window, and then at the 7 month window, you can check availability of where you would rather stay. If it is not available, you can get on a waiting list. If things don't work out, you at least have a place to stay at your home resort!!

To avoid a walk from the elevators request a room close to the elevators.
As for being close to refreshment areas and a store, once you get out on the boardwalk everything is quite close. There are several take out food stands, a pizza take out window, all the restuarants have take out meals if you so desire and the Screen Door is the store that carries a selection of food, drinks, snacks, etc. If you have a room close to the elevators just hop on the elevator down to the boardwalks and everything is right there.

Back after some unpacking ...

CarolMN: The scaffolding is still up in the standard view area of the resort - if you are looking at the entrance to the resort, it is the area to the left. The rest of the resort looks to be completed - all the Boardwalk view, Luna Park view and the quiet pool/canal rooms are free of scaffolding. There is also some construction going on right next to Wyland Galleries ... not sure what they are doing.
You're right - 5094 is a dedicated 1BR. We love them, too !;)

paults: Yes, we had a beautiful view of the Swan/Dolphin resorts and if I stretched a bit, I could see Tower of Terror and the Sorcerer Hat at MGM out the side window. It was a great view :D !

5infam : DeeP gave you great advice. If it is really important for you to be close to the food vendors and the Screen Door General Store, I agree you should request a room close to the elevator. However, being close to the stairs an the end of the building was also convenient. You could run down the stairs, through the pool area, and be out on the Boardwalk pretty quickly. We did it many times ... most of the time we chose to take the elevators back up to the room though as the kids get tired climbing the 5 flights of stairs ! Some people may think we are nuts, but my kids love the long walk through the hallway ... they love looking for the Hidden Mickeys and the footprints in the carpet !:p

officer tigger: We had originally planned to travel in August but decided in April that we needed to change to June. At that time, VWL was the only resort available for our week, so I booked that and waitlisted for either BWV or BCV. I kept calling and checking with MS and eventually got the full week at BWV. I have had very good success with the waitlist in general. I agree with 5infam, I would definately book at your home resort and waitlist for BWV if it is not available at the 7 month window. Good Luck !;)

Hope that helps ! Any other questions, just ask !
;) Cindy
