I know there have been a few ?'s about food offerings as of late and I said I would post our experience when I got back sooo here goes.

Well, the best change I found is that they now have cold water, soda, and Perrier on ice after the breakfast but you still have to ask for it before then. They have the same breakfast items as the other resorts. 11:00 they have popcorn, cheese goldfish, pretzels, chips, M&M's, nuts, toasts with hummus, and chive spread. At 3:00 they add finger sandwiches and choc. chip cookies and rice krispie treats. They also had some tarts on several occasions. In the evening they had the veggie and dip tray, cheese and crackers(nice varieties of both), a hot item (the 2 times I saw what it was they had a shrimp dumpling ??), and PB&J. They also had 4 kinds a wine. The evening desserts were choc. covered strawberries, tarts, and individual cakes and cheesecakes. They also had all kinds of cordials and flavorings to go in your coffee (the flavorings are out all day). All times are approximate, ans as I did not write this down there could have been other things out as well.

Our room over looked the BW and was in perfect order. Maid service and turndown were perfect. CM's in the lounge were GREAT as always adressing my DS and asking him if he would like his skim milk as soon as we entered the lounge. I got to meet a few other guests while grabing a snack and it always made for a cozy experience being able to chat for a few minutes with CM's and guests.

The Inn Keepers Club door now has to be kept open because of a fire code so you do need your room key to enter the lounge area until a new door can be installed in an adjusted location. I was also surprised to see 2 new signs at the walkways to the main pool stating that you need a resort key to use the pool. No wristbands.

Bus service was fine to the MK and I took my car to AK. MK drop off area is being worked on so all resort pick up and drop off is on the far side.

Parks were SLOW, nothing more than a 5 min. wait. Universal was much busier with a 15min. wait tops LOL! The CM's said in Nov. and Dec. they were going to get slammed so maybe that is why AP rates were so late getting out.

We went to Discovery Cove as well 2nd time to do this and we loved it again.

I posted my car experience on the EI thread over on the trans. board. First time renting a car on my solo trip with DS and it was very easy to get around I will definately do it again.

DS has special needs and I will post a couple of thoughts about that on the disAbilites board.

Well, that's about it tried to make it short, any ?'s I will try to answer later I am headed out for the Sox/Twins game. O.K. so I'm a Sox fan, even you cubbies have to agree Loaiza is awesome. ;)

I am glad you enjoyed your stay. I will be there in just 6 weeks! I think the cast at the Inkeepers Club are the best! Jackie has been wonderful to me when I have beeen there in the past. I am looking forward to going with my son and his family next month.

LvsTnk, what a GREAT review! Sounds like another ~magical~ vacation for another Dis’er. :)

I will be looking forward to your post over on the disABILITIES board. I will be making my first visit to WDW as a disabled person, so I am always looking for tips that anyone has to pass along. Again, welcome home!

Wow... BWI food sounds great.. glad you enjoyed your stay.

We walked over to see the pool one night and the clown was not as scary as I thought it would be :p

Was your room close to the lobby elevators or did you have a long walk to it...?

>>^..^<<

Great review! Thanks for the details about the offerings in the lounge. Glad to hear you had a good trip :)

Teresa

Yes, Jackie is the absolute best and and I will always love her for lisetening to Jack's entire description of the Jimmy Neutron ride at US (took about 15min.) the rest of the CM's are great too.

Cassie, one Dad kept telling his DD I he would watch her come out of the tongue sounded kind of weird I thought :o My room was right across from the lounge were we needed to be. Not the closest to the elevators and the walk get's much longer late at night;)

Janet, I have been following your thread over there and you have been given some great advice:D I need to go over and find out how your last Dr. appt. went. I am glad to see you are still planning your trip!

Teresa, I was glad to report they had PB&J Yea!!

And if anyone cares the W.Sox lost boo hoo now they are tied for 1st.:(

Laurie--

Welcome back and glad to hear you enjoyed your trip. Our first time at BWI concierge will be next month. It was good to get an idea about what to expect.

Could you tell me about where the rooms are located in the resort? I've read they are on part of the 4th and 5th or is it part of the 5th and the 4th...Obviously I have no clue:confused:

Any other information you have would be great. Thanks.

By the way, we were at the Sox v. Twins game last night so neither one of us brought them luck...what's that about?

I think they are mostly on the 4th but can be on other floors and the garden suites are included as well. If you would like to request a view or an area tell your planner and she can make a note of the request.

My DH just suggested we go for our 20th anniversary next month so maybe we will see you there.

**How about those Sox......all I know is I had to pre-purchase our playoff/world series package and I bet I am gettin a refund the way they looked today:o **

It's great to hear such a good report of BWI concierge. I will be staying here for the second half of my honeymoon (after a stay at GF concierge), and I can't wait! I was wondering if you have the pre-planning email for the BWI concierge. If you don't want to post it, feel free to PM it to me. Thanks for your review! :)

I only have the phone# 407-934-1448.

Have an awesome honeymoon!!

Hi Lvstnk, thanks for all the info. BWI concierge sounds lovely.
We currently have reservations for pol. lag. conc. for Xmas, but the BWI conc. sounds like it might be less hectic.
I can only get reg. concierge, not deluxe room. I know the concierge service is the same, but what about views and locations? We need 2 rooms, connecting...I understand that is by request only at all resorts.
Any info. you have would be appreciated. Thanks! Deb

In March I had a stanard room and we overlooked the quiet pool. We also had a great view of the fireworks from Illuminations. It was very quiet and beautiful.
I just think the BWI concierge is the best on property. The cast is wonderful and go out of their way to accomodate you. Won't stay anywhere else now! I am looking forward to my return in a few weeks.

kerrycm, was your room size comparable to say the yc or bc?
Also, do you think there are any room views that would be considered less than desirable? It is hard to think of giving up that lagoon conc. we have booked at the polynesian!!!
However I am intrigued by how small and cozy the bwi seems. I know that the bw itself is a happening place...We usually stay at the villas on points...
Looking for input..Thanks to all. Deb

Yes, the regular room size is the same as the YC/BC. Standard views should overlook the quiet pool/courtyard. If there is a view you would like to have request it with your planner and they do try to grant requests.

I stayed a the Polynesian LVC as well over the 4th and yes the rooms are bigger, the view of the fireworks, ewp, and castle can't be beat. The food selection is also better at the Polynesian. But, for Dec. with the iffy weather we like to have the lobby and rooms all under one roof. If you would really like the Deluxe room keep checking things become available all the time.

For pics and virtual tour of the BWI check out www.ourlaughingplace.com. I am sure you have seen Tikiman's site for the Polynesian. Hard decision but you can't go wrong with either location or resort.:D

I'm SO happy that you enjoyed your trip at BWI and thanks for the food insights.

I'll be going in Feb with my 15yo niece and have booked a Jr. Garden Suite. Janet2K was kind enough to tell me about the room and what it included.

I was wondering if anyone had any room numbers for the garden suites and, if so, what rooms might be better to view the firworks, if that's even possible. I'm also looking for pictures of the rooms and suites if anyone has them.

Thanks for all your wonderful tips!

Look here www.wdwig.com for pics of garden suites. These face the quiet pool and the fireworks are kind of behind them. You could probably go out onto the front garden area of them and see the fireworks.

Enjoy your trip! The garden suites are so cute!!:D

Number 1,2 and 3 seem to be the largest (at least from the outside) and they are closest to the main entrance for easiest access to the elevator and concierge lounge. I think we stayed in number 6 or 7 but it wasn't the best experience. It must have been the unit that wasn't used much and housekeeping stored alot of junk in it such as extra towels/supplies, etc. After I called to get that stuff removed, my son pulled out the sofa bed and it was dirty from other guests and had a large permanant stain of what APPEARED to be dried blood. I called again and they couldn't give us a new mattress and they sent people to completely wrap up the mattress with plastic, pads and sheets. I still cringe when I think about it. Beware of the stair steps also, they are very slippery as they are hardwood with a shiny finish. Given a choice I would stay in the villas. PS, my experience was this summer for one night on a free upgrade so I couldn't get my money back for the inconvience.
