We checked into the BWVs on Tuesday, 8/1. Arrived at 12:15, room not ready. I was a little surprised to not get my DVC folder with info, just a single piece of paper with the DDP info on it and a business card to call back later in the day to see if our room was ready. But, I checked our carry-ons and went on to Epcot.

Called BWV around 4:00 and our room was ready. We had a 2BR, BV, room #4011. Unfortunately, no one could tell me where the room was, or how to get there. Just “take the elevator to the 4th floor and follow the signs”. I was a little surprised by this, but decided to trudge on. Found room #4011, and it was the studio of the 2BR. Of course, the connecting door was locked, and I had to go out to hall to open the other door (after calling front desk to ask about the rest of the room since no one told me we were both 4011 and 4013). After getting 4013 open, and opening the connecting door, I then had to move our luggage around AND our groceries which had been delivered to the studio. Even the bellman came to 4011 with our carry-ons! Apparently, this is something I’ll have to remember about 2 BRs at the Boardwalk. It seemed weird to me to be assigned the studio side, but I’m sure they have their reasons.

The room was fine – not as “**** and span” new as my own SSR still is, but clean. The grout and caulk is in need of some repairs, there are some nics in the wood, etc. I did think the washer and dryer were dirty – full of old lint, etc. And I found the carpets to be…well, dirty, quite frankly. It’s to be expected, I suppose, so I just wore slipper socks…but it was a little yucky.

Location was great. This was a short trip, so it was nice to be on the Boardwalk. We traveled with friends who were at the Beach club, so it was especially nice, and the main reason why we stayed at the Boardwalk instead of SSR on this trip.

I wasn’t thrilled with the folks at the front desk OR the concierge desk – they weren’t very friendly at all. But all the folks at the Bell station and outside were great. But I’m also a grown up, and realize not everyone is always happy in WDW, so it doesn’t ruin my trip.

Overall, it was a good trip. Dining plan and Magical Express worked perfectly. Saved about $250 with the dining plan for 4 adults, and luggage was in the room at 4 pm on the day of arrival.

Looking forward to going back in September for the pin event…once again, we are at the Boardwalk for that trip. After that, we are back to home resort, SSR for two trips.

Thanks for letting me share!-

How interesting! Apparently "**** and span" is a dirty word!

Wonder about sp ic and span?

And ****-and-span?

Mississippian... That's quite a unique home resort you got there neighbor. You are quick and slick. :artist:

I had a pretty good experience at DBV...

When we were there they were cleaning the carpets and painting the walls. The desk staff was pretty nice to us. We lost our room keys and they were quite helpful with reissuing them.

Our room was pretty clean. We were in 2042, right across from the Luna Park pool.

The staff at Dundy's Sundries were also quite helpful.

The only issue I had, is that the last two times I have been to WDW (and stayed at DBV) I have come down with nasty upper respiratory infections. That never happened to me before, and this time, my husband got one so severe, he was in bed the rest our stay (7/27-7/31).

Now my husband stayed at DSS last year. He hated it...the air conditioner didn't work, and he was transferred to a different room because the door to his original room was jammed. It took the maintenance people 2 hours to get to the room (This happened at midnight), and then they were quite rude to my husband and his brother when they arrived (the maintenance worker implied that my husband and his brother were a gay couple). :sad2: I don't think I will EVER stay at DSS.

Lady Jade - I also got a bad cold at the end of our trip - I thought maybe all the air conditioning and humid conditions might have brought it on somehow - but it's never happened before this trip.

Mrs. Potato Head - Glad you had a good trip. I agree that the upkeep of the rooms is slipping from what I remember in the past.

You know with BWV being all indoors all you have to do is follow the rooms # from the elevators. You might of had a new CM who doesn't know the #yet but they told you the best way to go in your quote.

As far as getting the studio part, then having to walk your bags and groceries over to the 1 bedroom ( what 12 ft ) I'm sorry but it seems so little to complain about. Even if you got the 1 bedroom first you would have had to go out in the hall to get into the studio. So I guess either way Disney was wrong. All connecting doors are locked because HK doesn't know it's going to be a 2 bedroom stay. What if you had a 1 bedroom and the adjoining door was unlock but you didn't check. You leave your room and somebody goes in the studio, tries the door and it's unlocked. (see the problem)

I think the reason for them assigning the studio first was actually no reason at all, it just happened that way. :goodvibes

Hey, Mrs. Potato Head-we were at BWV at the same time! DD and I checked in on 8/2 and stayed till 8/7 (way too short!). We checked in around noon as well, and our room wasn't ready either. Our CM had a tough time finding a room to assign us, and then had difficulty finding the room on the map. Maybe BW has some new CM's?

Our room was 5058, 5th floor overlooking Luna Park. The CM asked if 5th floor was OK, and that if we didn't like it, to come down and she'd change it. I'm not sure what the concern was ove the 5th floor. Anybody have a bad experience with 5th floor?

Unfortuantely for DD, we had a great view of the Tower of Terror! :rotfl: ToT is not her favorite attraction! Our room was in decent shape, with a small dent in the fridge and a cola stain on the sofa. Other than that, no complaints.

Throughout our stay, I kept remarking to DD how helpful and friendly the CMs were. Not that we've had trouble in the past, but this trip they all seemed to actually be glad to be there!

We also used the DDP. I think for our Feb vacation we'll just use the DDE card. We had *way* too much food, even with being able to bring home doggie bags. I did take advantage of the DDP by eating at Flying Fish our last night there. Wow! The food was fantastic! We brought the chocolate galette back to the room and had it for breakfast the next morning. :goodvibes Hey, it's vacation!

I'm sorry if you think I was COMPLAINING about the BWV... I love the resort, and only putting my recent experiences into a trip report format.

But actually, it WAS a bit confusing to have NOT known what to expect when I checked, in...it would have been nice to have been told by the front desk the whole situation regarding our rooms. The fact that the bags were put into the studio portion...well, as a small adult woman traveling alone with kids, it WAS a little inconvenient to have to haul it all around the room...but, fairly minor and NOT a big complaint. I would also assume that when getting a 2 BR, the hotel would assume you would want the majority of your things in the 1 br part - the full kitchen side for the groceries specifically... Again, I posted all of this more as information for others who may be traveling, not to be a big problem person.

As for room numbers, and directions. I do realize you can follow signs from all the elevators...but BWV is a BIG resort - with LOTS of inside hallways and it can be very confusing. When I asked (and I asked 4 different folks at the front desk/bell stand/concierge desk) for more specifics, I was only told to follow the signs...I found it a little odd (really thought they might know more). BTW, I found the stairs closest to the room that let us get out of the BWV and dropped us right by the ATM...MUCH less of a walk than going to the elevators and through the lobby everytime we wanted to leave.

Why do folks here feel that if anything not perfectly wonderful is said about a resort, we are complaining?

Hi Sarah!

We were in room 4011 and 4013 - right over Big River Grill. It was a beautiful view...when we were actually in the room!

We also used the DDP, because we were traveling with another family staying in another hotel. It made meals and the check SO MUCH EASIER! But in the future, when it's just our family, I think we'll stick with the DDP. It really was too much food...the sit downs are well worth it...but we walked away from 3 counter service meals because we just couldn't them!

Hope you enjoyed your trip as much as we did. Three teenagers and myself - meeting another family with 4 kids...it was terrific for the teens to be in WDW and get to "play". I'd love to do that again!

Now, back to BWV for the Sept pin event...can't wait!

We overlapped with both of you!

We checked in 8/5 at approximately 5:00 p.m. Our room was ready and we were in 4101 a dedicated 1 bedroom.

We had never stayed at BWV, but I had read some of the posts about the "run down" conditions and was a little concerned. Either we are the easiest people in the world, or our room have always been exemplary.

I did notice a "bleached out" stain on the carpet near the dining table, and the tile/grout work around the shower could use some work, but hey, don't check out the grout work in my bathroom at home either!

We had a great time. There was a slight problem at check-in regarding whether we were 2A and 2C or 2A, 1Y and 1C. She checked us in incorrectly and then it was difficult to get it corrected. She had to check us out and recheck us in, and it wouldn't print keys because it hadn't been cleared by housekeeping, etc. But hey, the family checked out the lobby area, and we went on about our business.

The concierge were wonderful for us. Loren pin traded with my DS12, and even told him to come back the next morning and Loren would bring him another of the "hat" pin series. He was also able to change our Thursday night BOMA reservation so we would have time to attend the Block Party.

All in all it was a great time. Maybe some day we will add on points there.
