Hubby and I just back from a great stay at the Boardwalk Villas. We rented points from someone here on DIS and it couldn't have been easier. We are huge Universal fans and we love the Hard Rock and Royal Pacific hotels. However, the prices, even for annual pass holders have become too high. For this reason, I think our next trip will be to WDW.
The Boardwalk is gorgeous. I love theme, although not crazy about the pool theme, but we heard from one of the lifeguards that it will be changing soon.
Our room was ready at ten am on check in day. Very nice surprise. Upper floor as requested. View would have been nice as our balcony overlooked the Swan or Dolphin, not sure which, with the TOT in the background. However there was a huge crane fenced in under us. Oh well, we were fine with it, I don't let things like that impact my vacation. However, upon returning to our room that afternoon, there was a family next door that was so loud. The walls seem to be paper thin at this resort. We had a studio, so maybe that had something to do with it. The older kids were yelling and the baby was screaming crying. They sounded like they were in our room! It is not their fault in any way, I have two grown children and I remember those days, but we were not about to stay in that room. We went to the front desk and asked to be moved. We were accommodated, and moved to a first floor room on the opposite side with a worse view if that is possible. No worries though. It took us a few days but we finally realized we could exit a door up the hall a bit and were a very close distance to the bus stop and Lobby. These walls were also paper thin but our neighbors on both sides seemed to be couples and their only noise was talking on the phone, of which we heard every word that was said.
We loved the location, to be able to walk to our favorite park and also the studios is priceless to me. I hate waiting for buses. The times we did take the buses, they were very timely and the bus was not shared with the Swan and Dolphin as someone told me before we left.
We enjoyed the actual Boardwalk and ate at several places during our stay. All were good. The Abracadabar was fun and actually opened at 2pm, even though the Disney App said 4pm. Just an FYI, we would have visited more if we had known that.
There is a very good chance we will return to the Boardwalk Villas on our next trip. We walked around the yaht club and beach club and it doesn't really appeal to me. The pool looked so fun though, and if I had young kids I would probably choose the beach club. We went to the Polynesian for the start of our monorail pub crawl and this is a serious consideration for our next trip too, if renting points there is an option.
Happy to answer any questions.
