Just returned from a 5 night stay in a 1 bdrm at BCV (12/31-1/5). All in all, it was a fantastic trip. This was our first trip with just our nuclear family. Since we joined in 2000, we have always taken other family members with us, so it really nice to be with just DH and our 2 dd’s. The holiday decorations were beautiful, the weather was perfect (80 degrees everyday and no rain), and the crowds weren’t too bad given the holidays.

We arrived at the resort about 3:30 on 12/31. Our room was not pre-assigned. We had requested n/s, upper floor, Epcot view. We were given the choice of a n/s, HCA, 5th floor, non-Epcot view or a n/s, 2nd floor, Epcot view. We chose the 2nd floor room as I really didn’t want an HCA room. It was room 248, it did face the service road, but with the doors closed, there was no issue with noise. We had an AWESOME view of the fireworks every night since there weren’t any trees blocking the view. The room was clean and there was some wear and tear. There were some gouges in the dining table and I’m pretty sure we were missing a lamp in the living room. The standing lamp was there, but there wasn’t one on the end table and I think there should have been. We had a light switch that didn’t light anything up and I think that is what it went too. We were also missing a can opener and a measure cup from the kitchen. These items were brought up quickly when we called – although DH and I had a laugh about the fact that they literally brought up ONE measuring cup and it was the 1/3 cup at that!

Even though the resort was at capacity, it didn’t feel like it. We went to SAB on the 1st and were able to get a table w/umbrella at noon. There were plenty of other chairs available as well and the pool wasn’t crowded at all. There were times when we were the only ones in a fairly large area of the pool. Went to Animal Kingdom and Epcot on the 2nd and 3rd and the crowds were manageable both days. Although we went to MK on the evening of the 2nd so we could ride a few rides and watch Wishes. In 2 ½ hours, we rode POTC and Jungle Cruise then high tailed it out of the park – just too crowded!

The worst part of the trip – as with every trip, it seems – was coming back home. The time just went by too quickly yet again. It was about 80 degrees when we left Orlando and it was 10 degrees when we arrived back home in KC – plus our luggage didn’t make the connection in Atlanta and our car was covered in a thick sheet of ice. At that point, we were seriously wondering why we ever left Florida! After we finally found the car under all that ice (took almost an hour), the next flight from Atlanta had arrived with our luggage, so all’s well that end’s well.

I’m sure there are things that I have forgotten, but if anyone has any questions, I’ll try and answer them

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you had a great time. I know what you mean about coming home. Never is much fun!

Hi,

Glad you had a great time!!!

Welcome back to Missouri!

I know this weather is quite a shock after the beautiful weather in Florida. It's a shock for those of us who had to stay home too as it was a record high of 72 degrees in Jefferson City this past Friday and tonight a low of 9 degrees. BRRRRRRRRRRR!

Glad you had a great time!

Donna

Sounds like you had a wonderful vacation! Thank you for posting!:)

Thanks for the post. I'm glad you had a great time. We are going to BCV and OKW the end of June. After doing bus duty this morning in -2* F weather, your description of the weather was music to my ears.

Glad you had a great time!

Thanks for the report. I am always amazed by how quiet the DVC resorts are. Maybe we've been lucky, but we've stayed at OKW, BWV, and BCV and we've never heard the first peep out of our neighbors either beside us or upstairs or down.

Pat

290 days and counting . . . again!
