We had a great stay at ASMo this past week. I faxed a request before our trip for the Toy Story section and we did get it!!! (I don't know if this helped, but what I faxed had a note from my son on the top in his best 6 year old handwriting. He wrote, "Dear Mickey, I love Toy Story! Can we stay there please?" and then I put the reservation info on the bottom.)

We arrived on Sunday at 12:00 and got checked in with no line. Our room was ready at 2:00. We loved the view of Andy's Room and my DS6 loved the Toy Story border and poster in the room. We also have a 1 year old who was in the pack-n-play, and we never felt like we didn't have enough room. (Also had a large cooler, my dh's golf bag, and a stroller with us, and we had plenty of room.)

I never heard other toilets flushing like I know others say they do....we were on the 3rd floor on the corner, though, so maybe that's the secret!

Our mousekeeper wasn't great because we ran out of toilet paper and soap in the shower dispenser and had to call and ask for it. (This is after we used the spare roll of toilet paper over the course of a few days, so she should have noticed that we didn't have a spare any more.) No biggie, though.

A cashier heard me telling my DH that we needed to refill our mugs and she said, "YES - fill those things up! Use them as much as you can! Use them until the end of time for all we care!" I know this is a debatable subject as the sign did say that they're good for the length of your visit, but she obviously felt differently.

If anyone has any questions, please ask!

Did you like the food court? How about the pools? Were they very crowded? Did you use the express checkout? Was the bus service convenient? Glad you had a great stay. Thanks.

Wow! Sounds like (aside from the TP problem :p ) you had a great trip! Just wondering, what number did you fax your request? I have made requests over the phone, but never by fax.

Also, regarding the refillable mug issue. I know it is touchy, but I agree, fill 'em up! My husband works for a beverage company & fountain drinks are sooooo cheap! ;) !

Anyway, thanks for the review. Glad your trip went well!!

Glad you had a good experience at the ASMO. We've stayed there since it opened and have not had a bad experience once.

I'm surprised at the toilet paper.....our supplies were never low...maybe just a bit of missing pixie dust...

We stay in the Dalmations section so that we're close to the second pool (mighty ducks) which is never crowded, the guest laundry facilities, and the main office. Since our "kids" are now 16 and 14, they aren't as tied to a theme. But to walk around and look at all the detail on the buildings is a trip in itself. I like Herbie the Love bug's set up !

We are on our way to the ASMO again this summer. Then going to extend the trip with a few days at the Poly. But no matter how much we may like the Poly, we'll still feel like coming home at the ASMO--I truly believe it is THE best place to stay if you are looking for the Disney Magic at reasonable rates.

billy,

The food court was fine. There were a variety of selections (well, a typical food court/theme park variety). You know, hamburgers, chicken fingers, pizza, etc. Then there was one area that had more "real" food....baked chicken, pork loin, specialty pastas (I remember there was shrimp and garlic pasta for one). The prices were from about $6 to $10 if I remember correctly.

We swam in the main pool (Fantasia) the day we arrived (Sun - we swam from about 3-5 PM) and it was not crowded at all. Then on Friday night, we headed to the pool again, but it was closed due to something in the water. (People were speculating that someone's diaper had exploded and the water was contaminated - eww!) So we went to the Mighty Ducks pool, which is just a short walk away. Even with the main pool closed, the other pool was not crowded at all. We got chairs just fine, and had plenty of room. (This was from about 8:30-10 pm)

We did express checkout with no problems. It's nice not to lose time on your last day by standing in the checkout line.

Bus service was excellent! The buses pick up in front of the resort. The stops were closest to the Toy Story section of the resort, so we could have just walked from our room around to the front, out on the front sidewalk and to the bus stop, but we always went through the lobby instead. I think I heard somewhere that if you're in the Mighty Ducks section, you're actually closer to the ASMusic bus stops, and although I didn't investigate this, it did look that way when we drove by.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!

deadhead -

I faxed our request to 407-939-7111. I hope you have as much luck getting your request as I did!

Melissa, How far in advance of your trip did you fax your request? My son really wants the Toy Story too. We will be celebrating his 5th bday there and I hope to make ALL his wishes come true!

thanks

bradsmom123, I think the recommendation is to fax it 5 days in advance, but I don't think my dh faxed it until Thursday afternoon (we checked in on Sunday, so that was only 3 days ahead). I did have them put the request on my reservation when I made it, but I faxed it also to try to increase our chances of getting it. Don't forget that they can't make any promises, but hey, it doesn't hurt to try, right!

I hope you get the Toy Story section, but if you don't just plan to head that way to let your son play in Andy's room!
