Overall we had a wonderful vacation!! DH and I took our 2 kids, plus my MIL and niece and nephew (had 2 connecting rooms). I had faxed our preferences a few days prior... and got upgraded to a savannah view room :smooth:

If anyone has any questions I'd be glad to anwer them (or at least try to!)

We will be staying there for the 1st time and I'm wondering when you faxed the preferences, did you state that you were looking for an upgrade or was that a pleasant surprise upon arrival? What did you ask for?:D

Hi jenny2, glad you had a great time. We'll be AKL 1st timers in April. How was the bus srevice to MK, MGM and Epcot? Also How was the hallway noise? Thanks.

Welcome back home to the DIS!

Hope you loved the AKL as much as we do!

Cannot WAIT until SPringBreak!

Now, jenny, you're going to have to fill in some blanks here!;)

Where was your room located?
What animals did you see?
Where did you eat/ and how do you rate?
CMs, pool, service, food, room service, housekeeping, buses....

Glad you had a great time  Were you booked in a standard or pool view originally [before the upgrade]?

How far was your room from the lobby?

Hi. I love AKL and am headed back for Spring Break. Did you have your own car for transportation or did you rely solely on the WDW buses? Did you ever get room service. If so, how was it? I, too, would like to know what you requested for your room location. Did you try any of the resort's activities? Especially any craft-type activities for the kids?
Thanks!

I will be there at Spring Break also in a standard view, the chances of getting an upgrade are not very good. But I am sure the experience will be great, as it always is at WDW.:earsgirl: :earsboy:

:sunny: I will be there at the end of July. What is the fax number that you used/ Thanks

Hi,

I am not the OP but we have stayed at the AKL on four of our trips our most recent one being Jan 23rd through the 29th of this year.

In all of our stays at the AKL we have never had an issue with the Disney Resort buses. The buses run from the AKL directly to the parks. The MGM does also stop at BB when BB is open.

Hallway noise. Nothing more or less then any other resort. If you have people staying around you that scream in the halls or let their children run and scream down the hall then you are going to hear it. If you have people staying around you that conduct themselves accordingly then noise from the halls should not be an issue. In all of our four trips to the AKL there have only been two times that noise from the hall has made me go to the room door and look out through the peephole. One was a woman screaming about her husband locking her out of her room and another time was when their were a couple of kids running in the hallway but both only lasted a couple of minutes. CM came and took care of the screaming woman and adults eventually caught up to the children in the hallway and told them to stop running.

The AKL it great. I hope you have a great stay.

Work picked up and I didn't get a chance to reply... here goes!

litlpixie - No, I didn't ask for an upgrade. Jus asked for connecting rooms that overlooked anything but a parking lot! The upgrade was a wonderful surprise.

PSUfan - We didn't hear any noise when in our room, and the bus service was OK. The longest we waited was about 20 minutes.

BambiTamby - We were in rooms 3262 and 3264, overlooking one of the smaller savanahs. Saw giraffe, ostrich, and those big cows with the huge horns. We actually didn't spend much time out on the balcony this trip so I'm sure there were more. We only ate at the Mara... which is so expensive! We stayed at WL last time, and I don't remember it being that expensive. Could also have been because we had my MIL with us, who is the ultimate bargain shopper, and she just about choked whenever we ate there, lol. Outside of AKL we ate at Germany and England, Cindy's castle for dinner, Peco's Bills, Hollywood and Vine... that's all I can remember!

Lexxiefern - our room was not far from the lobby at all. The pool was a walk, but not bad. Originally we'd booked a standard room.

johnsonet - We did have our own car (we drove from Mass) but mostly used the busses. After the long drive it's nice to not have to drive, lol! And no... we didn't try room service or any of the kids activities (though we meant to! Just didn't have enough time).

wltdsnyfan - I got the number off Deb's

How far in advance did you fax?

Are there major differences between the Savannahs? With a standard Savannah view room, do we have a chance at any of the savannahs?

I originally had a pool view, but decided, since we'll be there for Spring Break, that upgrades weren't going to be as easy to get, so I went ahead and changed to a Savannah view room. I know my daughter is hoping for a room with Bunk Beds, but I'm thinking that maybe our choice of savannahs is more important?
