I just returned from 3 days at the AKL and my only complaint is that I didn't have more time to stay there. Westayed in room 2321- Kudo trail facing the Arusha Savannah- wow! if you have children, I would recommend a lower floor- the animals were so close we could hear them crunching the grass!
Any questions- feel free to ask- my kids are seasoned Diskids and are 9 and 12. Let me know if I can help- it is hot but always wonderful!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Glad to hear that you had a great time at AKL! We (myself and DS 13) are going in July for three nights after our cruise. How were the restaurants? How was the pool? Is there one pool or more? Thanks for any tips!

I loved the fact that the buses only went to the AKL. So we never waited longer than 10 miutes and one time an empty bus stopped and picked us up for an unscheduled trip so we didn't have to wait at all!
We even did an ENight and the bus was waiting for us. Only once was it full, we always had a seat . One night we grabbed the bus to AK at 5:00 and rode over to eat at the Rainforest Cafe- the buses were still running when we finished after the park had been closed an hour and we went back to AKL for the night. No complaints here!
ADisney Girl- we did the cruise a little over a year ago- you will love it!
As for the pool- it is the largest pool on the grounds, I think, and it is open 24/7 . It is beautiful and there is a slide open when the lifegaurds are there- my kids were in the pool by 8:30 one morning. The food at AKL was great at Boma- we ate breakfast and dinner there- didn't try Jiko's because it looked a bit formal for my kids but the other guests said it was great! Boma buffet has so much to chose from- it is worth the trip. I thought the food court was strickly okay- we chose to take a 10 minute or less ride over to the Rainforest Cafe in AKL oreat at the parks most of the time. But definatley eat at Boma- it is exceptional! And go when you are really hungry!!!!!
Enjoy!
Let me know if you have any other questions- it makes me feel like I'm still there!

Ok - here's a few more questions:

Did you need a reserv. at Boma's, or was it a walk in service? Did the bus stop at the Boardwalk area? Was there a bus schedule letting you know where they went?

Oh, and I know we will enjoy the cruise -- we went on one last summer too! :D Since we have to disembark by 9am, the CRO put a note in our ressie about a possible early check in -- I wonder how likely that might be, since we will be there by 11am.

Thanks.:smooth:

Yep, you need reservations, we had them for both dinner and breakfast. The only buses I saw at the AKL were to the water parks, parks, and Downtown Disney but you can go to a park and switch to the other buses. All the bus drivers were giving advise to people about connections, etc., and I think there is a master map that tells you what to do! As for early check in, I doubt it but we just left our stuff with the bellhop and dressed for the parks before we got there. Then we officially checked in, got our parkhoppers, and they gave us a card with a number to call to see when our room was ready. I called from a shop in Magic Kingdom at 3:00 and they activated our cards for the room gave us our room number, and we went back around 5 to swim. If you are going through Disney, they probably will take care of all of it for you. I am one of theose book it yourself people and it still was easy as pie! All went smoothly!
