Just back from AKL!!!!!!

We arrived on the Friday before Labor day at 4:30pm.

We drove up and the sight of the resort just took my breath away. No pictures or video can prepare you for this!! We got out of the car and the sounds and smells..... well, I knew this was going to be very different than any resort I've ever stayed at or visited.

A bellman appeared immediately and got our luggage and handed me a valet ticket for the car. We walked into the lobby and DH and DS disappeared! They went to the viewing area off the lobby to see animals. There was no line for check in and every CM I encountered (during my whole stay) was wonderful!!!! At check-in I was upgraded to DELUXE pool view!! Not bad for $119. We were on the fifth floor, overlooking the lobby between the elevators and the suspension bridge (room 5404). Our view was wonderful and unobstructed! We had a great view of people going down the pool slide and all the activity around the pool area. Our room was spacious. We had a queen, bunk, and daybed. Never had towel animals, but housekeeping was wonderful. Anything we requested extra was there within a few minutes.

Buses were great. We had a few waits of ten minutes or so, but the rest of the time we didn't wait all. We took buses to all four parks and DTD.

Boma , Jiko, and Mara were great!

Ds went to Simba's and loved it.

Pool was very relaxing.

didn't see many animals, but the ones we saw were up close, which was nice. I saw zebra, giraffe , cattle, and some other small animals and birds.

We met a lot of nice people here and had a wonderful time. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and now my DH is looking forward to his next stay at a deluxe.

Welcome back! I can't wait to see AKL too. Did your DS get a chance to participate in any of the resorts activities? Did you request the upgrade or did they just give it?

Thank you for this review of AKL! My sister and I have planned a "girls only" long weekend for the end of this month and we're staing at AKL for the first time. You're review touched off the "excitement bug" in me this morning...now I know I'll be dreaming about AKL all day!!!

Sounds like you enjoyed DAKL as much as we did....

Now you guys are hooked on Deluxes!!!!

I know the signs, we went through the same thing, you start off so content with the All Stars then the Moderates are THE BEST then you see the Deluxes....Each one is better than the other one....

Wait till you try The Yacht and Beach Club....
There is noooo looking back!!!!!

We just got back from YC over Labor Day and can't wait for our next trip over Thanksgiving at The Contemporary....

Actually we have ressies at AS Sports for November! We will be taking my niece and nephew, so we really need two rooms for the five of us (and we got a $49 rate). We really enjoyed the deluxe because we spent a lot of time there. In Nov we will be at the parks the whole time. DH is already talking about the GF for Thanksgiving 2003!!!!! I really want to try all the resorts!!!!
