Just back from an 8 night stay at AKL. The resort is just like everyone else has said! Fantastic!!!

We had two rooms and were first assigned rooms 4348 & 4350. I would not consider these savannah view. We felt like we were facing an alley. We mostly saw a side of the building. We asked to be switched. Since it was late we waited until morning to switch. The next day we were assigned rooms 3523 & 3525 on the Zebra trail. These rooms were excellent. We saw tons of animals. It was the best location!!

Mousekeeping placed my boys stuffed animals in different locations everyday. It was very cute!

Mara was prettty good! We ate mostly breakfast items from here.

Boma's was excellent!! We ate breakfast there 3 times. And had dinner once. Really would have liked to eat dinner there again. And those Zebra domes are the best!!

The boys really enjoyed the pool and slide. And the hot tub was great!

Any questions I'll answer as best I can.

:)

I'm so glad you enjoyed AKL. Isn't it beautiful?? I only had 3 days there last May, and I fell in love with it.

Boma is sooo good. We did the dinner once. My son and I are sorta fussy eaters, but so glad we tried it.

I'm going back in May (CBR this time), and my DD is joining me for 3 days. The one place she has to see is AKL and eat at Boma. My son lives nearby in Altamonte Springs and he is ready for another dinner there too.

Isn't Boma fabulous? We ate there twice on our December stay! And we never eat any place twice on a trip!

Hi Jennsaint!

Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip. We are going to AKL Apr 25 - May 2. We have reserved two rooms. Were your rooms connecting? What was the setup? I would like to get a king and a queen with bunkbeds. I also requested the Zebra Trail.

Any other tips would be appreciated! We are getting SOOOO excited!:pinkbounc :pinkbounc

Yes we had connecting rooms on the Zebra Trail. One room had 1 queen/ bunkbeds and the other room had 2 queens. My advice is to take time to enjoy this resort. One night after we had dinner at Boma's my boys did the evening activity off the main lobby. A CM gave clues and the kids had to guess which animal he was talking about. Everytime they answered right they got a bead. When they were all done he lets them pick out an animal bead and they can make a necklace or bracelet. My boys really enjoyed this.
Sit in the lobby the couches and chairs are so comfortable. Nice place to relax.
Don't miss Boma's. I suggest at least 1 breakfast and 1 dinner. We really enjoyed our meals there.
AKL is truly unique and beautiful! Have fun!

Hi JennSaint...I'm glad to hear you had a great time and that you were there recently. My DH, DD and DS and I just upgraded our room from POR to AKL for a June trip. We are very excited. Can you give me any tips regarding: which bldg is closer to Mara, the food court, bus stop and how frequent do they run, and what does the resort offer for a 2 and 5 yr olds. I heard just wonderful things about this resort that I know we'll have a great time there. Thanks!!!

Was your first room on the zebra trail also? or which savvanah? Which floor were you on? Room std or deluxe? Thanks, very excited but not going till july, Thanks, MKY:)

Did you make advance PS's for Boma before your vacation? We were there in Nov. and were able to get same day PS's for a few meals. I am planning for our June trip, and we hate being tied down to dinner reservations, but will definately make them if we have to for Boma.

I was thinking about requesting to get a room facing feeding areas. Are these the one you refer to as facing a wall?

I would say any of the rooms on the Zebra trail are fairly close to the restaurants and pool. No matter where you are you have to go through the lobby and out the main doors to get to the buses.
The buses were great. Only waited once for 15 minutes. Most of the time there was a bus waiting or we waited no more than 10 minutes.
My boys really enjoyed the pool and playground.

Honestly couldn't tell you which savannah we were facing in our first room. If you go all the way to the end of the Kudu train then off to the left that's the section we were first assigned and it was terrible. Room #'s were 4348 & 4350 on the fourth floor. Maybe if you look at the AKL map you'll see what I mean.

I made 1 ps for breakfast & 1 ps for dinner at Boma's. Glad I did there were some long waits for people who didn't have ps's. We ate breakfast there 2 more times once I called the night before and we still had to wait 30 minutes after we checked in. The other time we walked up that morning and only had to wait 10 minutes. I suggest making at least 1 for each meal!

Not sure what you mean about feeding areas. Every morning around 7 am a truck would come around and fill some of the feeding bins for the animals right on the savannah. We were on the Zebra Trail and I enjoyed watching the CM's feeding the animals.
