Just back from AKL last night - trip was wonderful as always. hotel was great - what an experience seeing the animals from our balcony. Our room (#4503 - Arusha/Zebra) was great but I would have preferred to be down one more floor.

I was worried about the bus service from reports I read here - but it was all great and I never really noticed that it took longer to get places.

Ate at Boma for dinner and breakfast - both were terrific.

Parks were empty and it was HOT!

if anyone has any questions just let me know!

Why would you have preferred to be down a floor?

We are going in December, and I'm thinking of trying to request an area/floor of the resort.....

Also was the view from your room nice in the area in which you were placed?

Thanks for your help in advance! Glad to hear you had a great time!

Have they started putting refrigerators in the rooms yet? Is the pool slide back in operation yet? If you had a coffeemaker, did they supply coffee every morning or just the first morning? If just the first morning, where do you get it for subsequent mornings? Did you use meal vouchers for any of your AKL meals and if so did they save you any $$? Sorry for the rapid-fire questions and thanks for any info you can provide!

I would have prefered to be down a floor because of the trees. On the 4th floor you are at or above tree level so the animals can get blocked. When the giraffes were feeding we could only see their bodies and legs - not the neck and head! The views from a few doors down (4515-22 I think) would have been straight on to the feeding trees (they hang food on certain trees) without tree obstruction. We loved our room location, not too far from the lobby - close to the elevators to take you to the pool/restaurants etc. We saw lots of animals everyday and thought this location was the best.

We asked for fridges at check in and housekeeping brought them to us. We got coffee makers brought down also with just one day of coffee. We actually had brought a can of coffee and filters from home to use the rest of the week - kept some milk in the fridge and we were all set. We did not use vouchers and the pool slide was still closed as of Saturday.

By all means, try to get a room on the 3rd floor, that way you are looking at the animals not down on them. We had room 3371 on the Kudo Trail on the Arusha Savanna, we thought it was perfect. I absolutely loved that resort and will be returning in the very near future. You will LOVE it. Enjoy!

Did you notice any mosquitos around the AKL?? We will be there in a few weeks and want to know how much insect repelent to pack.

I am not quite sure

see we didn't see many mosquitos but something bit the heck out of my ankles one night! we were out on the public savanah using the night vision goggles and I didn't notice anything at the time but when we got back to the room I had about 10 bites around my ankles! Not sure what they were but they itched but didn't swell as much as mosquitos.
