Just back from AKL and lots of rain!

We got back late last night from 7 nights at AKL, once again we loved it! We were on the Zebra trail and saw animals day and night. The CM's were all great. The bus transportation was wonderful. Yes, the rooms are a little dark, but we love the atmosphere and the darkness was not a problem for us. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus, usually a lot less. We always had a seat, many times the bus was almost empty. The pool was never over crowded, lots of chairs available. Boma was always busy, so if you want to eat there I would suggest making PS's ahead of time. The Mara was busy at times, but the service was always fast, and we never had a problem finding a table. We had no problems with bugs at all, and I was prepared because in November the no-seeums were bad. The only problem was the rain, it rained EVERY day. Our town car driver said it was the most rain they have had in 150 years!!! Still, we had a GREAT time. Any questions - I will try to answer them.

We stayed at AKL last May and LOVED it too!! Also in the Zebra trail! Gorgeous resort!!
I think that the AKL pool is definitely our favorite pool!!!

We just got back on Monday from CBR and Poly. We had periods of rain just about everyday, but didn't last long...hour at the most. It seemed typical of Florida in June. But when we left they were calling for all- day rains for the next few days. Is that what happened??? I know there was a huge Low-pressure system sitting in the Gulf that finally moved over to Fl.
Sorry to hear you had so much rain!! But glad to hear you still had a great time.

luvdzny, I just got back on the 17th, was there 5 days and it rained rained rained. one day at MGM they had us all get off the great movie ride it was so bad out. But the story gets even better, we boarded the plane on the 17th and from 12:50 till 3:10 we sat on the plane because they closed the airport due to the severe weather conditions. Oh well, I look at it this way, I wasn't sitting on some Island on the beach with rain, I dawned my poncho and I kept going.

Hi! I'm trying but I can't think of why you would have to get off The Great Movie Ride because of rain.

I'm glad you had a good time in the rain, we have enjoyed some of our best times at Disney on rainy days!

Neither can I. Great Movie Ride is entirely indoors.

Gail T AGAIN, could you be thinking of the Backlot Tour?? and not the Great Movie Ride??
We were there during the same time and I didn't think it was that bad as far as the rain. It always seemed to clear up fast and in time for us to do whatever we had planned.

We have been down there in Oct while there were hurricanes sitting in the Atlantic......now THAT WAS RAIN!! All day downpours!!!!

cindyfan, it was the backlot tour and the rain lasted for all mid morning till afternoon stopped for maybe an hr or so and started back up again. thanks Cindy for pointed out my flumber, what was I thinking.

We had a GREAT time even in the rain. I tell all the people that come into my work who live in town the next rain storm they will see me, they won't be able to miss me walking with my yellow poncho from Disney World. I just watched the video today and what rain there was. but with rain in Disney comes less crowds in the lines for rides, I don't melt in the rain nor do I grow, all 5' of me came back home not an inch more. LOL

Boy have we had rain!! Im sooo sick of it!1Its gong on three weeks now!! I wish we could send it to the wild fire areas they need it and we sure are sick of it!!!

I watched the weather map and thought of all you great folks down there in the rain...but, as bad as I felt about you having to deal with it, I'd rather see rain than the fires & drought. That really breaks my heart, seeing Florida & now Colorado & Arizona burning like that. They say it's just part of nature, that the land needs to burn every now and then to stimulate new growth, but the destruction.....
