Just returned on Saturday from a marvelous week at WDW. I had not been there for many years and this was my DS (5) first trip.

The WL was wonderful. We had a woods view room in the north wing. I had requested a quiet room as my DS is a light sleeper and had read some people had problems with noise. We were in 3018, 1/2 between the stairs and the elevator. Great access to Roaring Forks for mug refills in the morning and close the boat launch. We heard no noise and slept soundly every night. We had a nice surprise in that we had a view of FITS. Didn't expect to see anything from the 3rd floor.

The staff at WL was great and mousekeeping did a great job. Room was made up by early afternoon and everything was kept spotless.

We ate at Whispering Canyon. What a hoot. We spent 2 hours over dinner. Our sever "Hickory" was great and involved my DS in everything. She even had him sing "She'll be coming round the mountain" into a microphone standing on a chair in the middle of the restaurant. Food was also very good.

We also ate a Artist Point one night. Food was excellent. You absolutely need to try the berry cobbler, yum!!

Boat transportation was great. Never waited more than 5 minutes. Several times there was a boat pulling up to the dock as we arrived. Don't understand why people have such negative things to say about the boats. Even when we went to FW, it only added 4 - 5 minutes to the overall trip and the boat ride is extremely pleasant. Didn' t use the bus transportation as we had our own car.

Pool is a little small but never had trouble getting 1 or 2 chairs together. Enough to hold our stuff and keep an eye on my DS who never got out of the water.

Rented a water mouse one day. Great fun cruising around the lake. Well worth the $30/hour.

I tried to find things wrong with this wonderful resort, but could not. I can't wait to return. DH is already starting to plan next year's trip.

Please let me know if I can answer any questions.

Thanks for the great trip report!

We will be staying at WL for the first time June 20th as a surprise trip for DD and DS . . .

Sounds like you had an awesome room . . .I have also booked a Woodsview and when I fax in next Monday, I was going to request North Wing . . .hopefully catching a glimpse of FITS.

How was the food at Whispering Canyon? We made breakfast ressies there . . .Did you find Roaring Forks any good for quick snacks?

How were the crowds and weather?

So glad to hear you enjoyed WL! We are trying to figure out how to squeeze in a 3rd visit there before the AP expires!

Isn't it just the best??!! I think what I like is that you REALLY think you are in the wilderness in an area that is so inundated with the "tropical" beach theme! A refreshing pause!

We'll be looking for you to be there again! We're hooked!

And thanks for taking the time to post your report!

How was the food at Whispering Canyon? We made breakfast ressies there . . .Did you find Roaring Forks any good for quick snacks? The food was great. I never had breakfast at Whispering Canyon but my DH did and he said it was great. There were as many antics going on at breakfast as there were at dinner.

My DS and I did Roaring Forks for breakfast every day. DH did a mug run and brought back bagels and muffins to the room for us. Ate there for lunch a few times. Service was good. Freshly cooked hamburgers, cheese steak sandwiches, etc. Pizza was good, hot and tastey. Good selection of prepared sandwiches and fresh fruit, yogurt, etc.

How were the crowds and weather?
The weather was hot and very humid. Had thunderstorms almost every afternoon, but only lasted a little while in the late afternoon. The only really bad day was Wed., where it poured non stop from 2 pm until about 6 pm. We were at Seaworld and donned our ponchos and slogged on.

The crowds didn't seem bad at all. We took advantage of EE at MK and AK and did walk ons for all the majors in the first 1 1/2 hours at each park. We headed out of the morning park by 12:30 and returned to the hotel to swim and rest. Park hopped around 4 pm on several days and still never encountered many lines. The longest wait was about 15 min. Many of the rides had posted standby times of 20 minutes, but the reality was only about 10 min. Used Fastpass for the super biggies i.e. Test Track, Tower of Terror, Rockin Roller coaster, but didn't need them for anything else. Space mountain was a walk on all three times we visited MK. Rode Buzz continuously until my thumb hurt.

Justinsmom,

What day were ya'll at Whispering Canyon? Was it Monday, June 2? If it was, I think we saw your daughter singing.

We were sitting in the lobby waiting for our table and it must have been your daughter we saw singing. What a cutie!

"Fantasy In The Sky" It's the name of the fireworks show at Magic Kingdom.

Thanks for the report.... you said that you rented water mice, I am assuming that your DS rode this with you? I read somewhere that you had to be 12 years old......did I read wrong? Did he enjoy it? I am spending a day at DC by myself and my DH and DS were trying to figure out what to do with themselves that day.....thanks.

My son rode with my DH and I and loved every minute. He's only 5 so it was never even an option for him to ride alone.

I'm not sure of the age restriction, but there is also a height restriction to drive the boats.
