We just got back Saturday from a six night stay at the WL. Let me know if you have any questions.

We had a few very slight negative experiences there, both the results of guests.

1.) People were always feeding the ducks at the outdoor dining area, right in front of the sign that says don't feed the birds. Now, I don't mind them feeding the ducks, but not while I'm trying to enjoy my food. At breakfast one morning I watched a guy feed most of his breakfast platter to the ducks and birds. Again, his choice. However, we were at the table next to him. Ducks were literally running over my feet! Birds were landing on the empty chairs at the table.

2.) More people had the old WL refillable mugs than the new YOMD mugs. I saw one guy carrying about six old mugs from RF. Later I saw a group of 8 each with old mugs. There was a guy in the lobby each morning drinking coffee from an old mug. Jeesh. I have two 10-year-old mugs in my cupboard. I guess I could have saved $24. If only I were a rule-breaker...

As you can probably surmise, we had a great trip. These are the two WORST things that happened, and they didn't really make me mad. I just kind of shook my head and chuckled.

glad you had a good trip! Sorry about the birds and mugs, too bad others are not as honest as the rest of us.

I was glad to be wearing Crocs when the duck walked over my foot. I don't think that I could handle the webbed foot on my skin. I got my revenge on the duck at Victoria & Albert's. Yummy.

:lmao:

Glad you had a great trip....The lodge is special.

How did you like the rehab'd rooms.

The new room decor is just great. The old decor was decidedly more simple than the new. The new furniture is more upscale. It still has a rough look, but it is more polished than what used to be there.

It's a bummer that the TV has HDTV abilities, but the signals are all analog. It's a waste of a beautiful screen.

Did you go over to FW for the campfire singalong? I only have 14 more days, I can hardly contain myself! :cool1:

I am glad that you had a nice time! What type of view did you have? Also, how long did the boat ride take to the MK?

We didn't head over for the singalong. We did, however, rent a surrey bike and rode over to the outpost. We walked around, visited the horses, and checked out the store. It's a nice (but hot in the afternoon) ride over to FW.

BTW, the surrey bikes must stop when they reach the Tri Circle D ranch. Two wheeled bikes are allowed to continue past that point.

Have a great trip!

We booked a woods view room, but we were upgraded to courtyard. We were in room 4037. Here's a few pics of the view:

The boat service was pretty decent. We did get stuck behind the water parade on the the way home from MK one night. I would say that the trip was never longer than 20 minutes. We never waited more than 5 minutes for a boat. The boat does stop at FW on the way to MK, so there is a slight delay there.

We are going Aug 26 - Sept 1.

Did you have a bunk bed room...If so were they nice? We have a bunk bed room with a courtyard view booked and are hoping for an inner courtyard view.

We can't wait for our stay at WL...we were there in 2004 with a woodsview and only saw trees.

Have they totally dismantled the epcot sign and Mickey arm yet??? Hoping to be crane free for pictures!!!

Let me know how your stay was.

We were there for our 10th anniversary, so we had a king-sized bed.

As far as the wand at Epcot, all of the letters were off. The arm and hand still remained, as well as most of the stars on Spaceship Earth. It didn't appear that they did any work during operating hours, at least when we were at Epcot.

I don't know if they will have the crane removed by the time of your trip. There is a ton of steel there (OK, tons of steel); I don't think it will come down quickly.

Glad you enjoyed your trip, we stayed at WL last Sept. and absolutely loved the resort.

Love the photos - great room location. Will be at WL November 30 for 4 nights - first stay at WL. Have always preferred a tropical theme, but saw WL decorated for the holidays in 2004 and it is darn pretty! We booked a courtyard view, so do not think we can get a "bad view". Fingers crossed!

Thanks!

How was Roaring Forks? Typical counter service I'm sure, but was it cold and nasty or reasonably edible? Slow or moderate speed of service?

Was the lobby real noisy from Whispering Canyon? Or does the soundtrack help tame that down?

What time did you check in and was your room ready? We are hoping ours will be ready when we check in at 1pm (though we know it prolly won't be).

Anything exciting in the Mercantile that you just couldn't live without?

Were the smoking areas noticeable? If you smoke were they easy to find? If you don't smoke were they annoying close to where you wanted to be?

How was the bus waits for the other parks and DTD?
Sorry for so many odd questions. We will be there Aug 26 - Sep 2 (like an above poster we are Courtyard w/ bunks) and I am just too excited for words.

Glad you had a great trip and thanks for sharing the view pictures.

We have a standard view booked and are arriving in 10 days!! I'm hoping we'll get an upgrade. How crowded was the pool? Did you eat at Artist Point and if so how was it?

I saw two areas to smoke at the WL, and they were well out of the way of guests.

Good to hear (both ways) - DSO smokes, I don't. If you were able to see them hopefully that means they are relatively easy to find. Also means she won't have to worry so much about bothering others while she's there.

One DSA was just past the mercantile and arcade towards the bus stop. The second DSA was behind the pool bar, near the beach.

There were always people in both spots.

The service was usually pretty good. The deli sandwiches were outstanding. The turkey and ham sandwiches are pre-made. The roast beef is made as you order it. My wife also tried the salad, which was big and made to order. There is a separate line for the grilled items, including burgers and flatbreads. We always stuck to the deli / salads, because the line was typically longer at the grill station. There are also soups each day. The food was really good, IMHO.

Our room wasn't near the lobby, but when we walked through we could hear the "goings on" at WCC. Breakfast and lunch are pretty tame; most of the noise is at supper time.

We arrived about 3:30 PM; our room was ready.

Not really. Most of the shirts this year have big, bold graphics on them. That's not really my style. I did buy a WL T-shirt; it's rather subdued with silhouettes of a few characters.

They were easy to spot. We don't smoke, but didn't find them annoying.

No problems with the buses going to the parks. We did have one long wait at Epcot near closing. The DTD bus service is always suspect. I think Disney likes to strand us there to spend more money!

Glad you had a great time! I fell in love with the WL a few weeks ago..hope I get to return for the honeymoon in May.

Cheers,
Josh
