Hi Guys....Just back from 7 days at AKL. WOW! is all I can say. We had a standard view booked, but on my reservation voucher we had put "1st Anniversary...King Bed...best view possible". When we arrived, the man that checked us in said "I am trying to meet your requests..but I only have Queen beds available...and of course you will be upgraded to a Savannah View!!!" WE WERE SO EXCITED. Our room was great...still can't figure out which "Trail " we were on...it was room 3552. We had terrific views of animals all the time..Mostly we had a family of 3 Buffalo's (Or whatever they were...the animals with the horns!) and 3 or 4 Giraffe's. The best viewing time was around 5-6 p.m.
Our room was clean and well housekept all week long. It was a pretty long walk to our room , but since we had been upgraded, we didn't mind at all!
Only complaint was I thought the Mara was kind of dirty. The area where you get your drinks was totally filthy at all times. Other than that, no complaints...loved every single minute of it...any questions...please ask!::MickeyMo

We will be at AKL in a few weeks- can't wait!!!
How was the bus service? Also, how was the food selection at Mara? We have a 2 and 4 year old and are wondering if they offer a good kids' selection.
Thanks for the good report!!!

I'm going to be at AKL in a week and a half, I can't wait! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I was wondering, which floor were you on?

To those of you lucky enough to be staying at AKL in the near future --- I'M SO JEALOUS!! It is my all-time favorite hotel anywhere! We stayed last May, had a Savannah View and it was absolutely heavenly! Early risers, the animals were practically right outside our balcony every morning. They were plentiful again in the evenings after our long days at the parks. My DD had so much fun identifying all the species (there's a paper in your room that will be very helpful!)

From our room, we never heard a car; felt like we were really in the wild -- so peaceful. The buses were pretty efficient. We used them and kept the car parked the whole time. Enjoy!! ;)

i just stayed at AKL in august. i took my sister and 2 nephews for my sister's birthday and treated her to a savannah view. we loved it. the boys (ages 16 and 12) absolutely loved the pool. it was so big that you didn't even know when others were in there around you.

i agree that mara was a little on the dirty side. we spent most of this trip at the resort so it was disappointing after the other food courts in the other resorts. the food was good though..a little on the pricey side but good. they had the same offerings for lunch and dinner. during lunch and dinner, you placed your order, paid, and then found a seat. the waitress brought your food to you. breakfast you ordered from the counter yourself. it was the usual stuff (eggs, waffles, home fries, etc.). when i went lunch and dinner options were chicken fingers, chesse burgers, hot dogs, and at dinner they added fried shrimp, african stew, and other stuff.

Room 3552,

Looks like you were on the Uzima Savanna which is WAY WAY down the Zebra trail behind the pool area.

Glad you had a nice trip :)
