Just Back from a Great Trip at BCV (long)

To start this was our first ever Grand Gathering vacation, there were 12 of us...my dh42, dd19, dd11, and myself 42 along with my dh 2 brothers and their families. Highlights below:

ATA - Flint - 1 1/2hrs to check in something to do with four of the tickets.....2 hr delay, run for plane in Indy, arrived on-time in Orlando with alll of our luggage a good sign for the rest of the trip.

Arrive at 11:30pm in Orlando stayed at the BestWesten by the Airport - booked an non smoking room - got a smoking room - the smell was so bad even the bed linens smelled - since it was for only one night we decided to just accept it knowing the next day we would be at BCV.

Southern Elegance Limo - arrived on time with an upgrade from 2 regular limos to 1 stretch excursion limo - it was really nice and we couldn't have been treated better. A quick stop at the grocery store and off we went.

Arrive BCV 9:00am rooms not ready but assigned, they would not tell us where but that they were near each other.

Off to MGM with the whole crew, we called back about 3 and they said to call back at 4, the rooms were ready by then - 2bedroom 168, Studio 161, studio 163. All rooms were in excellent condition, at first I was a little leary about being on the bottom floor, but they were perfect for us. The 2 bedroom walked out to the quiet pool and it was only a couple of doors away from an exit which made it easy to get to the bus stops.

We recevied at least 15 Welcome homes through out the week...lots of smiles and hello's from the BCV CM's....

The weather was wonderful except for 1 day of rain which I loved (used as a rest day) most days temps were in the low 70's, and very light crowds we rarely waited for more then 10 to 15 mins for any ride.

Wishes, Illuminations and Fantasmic were all wonderful, even though I got some grief for sitting in front of the castle for wishes. It did limit what you saw but the fireworks around the castle and the light and other changes to the castle were well worth it. The castle looks wonderful.....

Cinderella's breakfast was a highlight for everyone, David our server was hilarious....

So for us this was another wonderful trip to the World.....

Did you spend most of your time with your group or do time apart to let everyone pick and choose where they wanted to go?

Wow! It sound like you organized a wonderful trip for your family! We watched Wishes from in front of the castle as well and enjoyed the view. I thought it was cool with the fireworks behind.

One quick question... Was your 2 bedroom dedicated? If so, did it have have 2 queens in the second bedroom or a queen and a pull out sofa? I'm still on my quest to find all the 2 queen 2 bedrooms!

It really turned out better then I expected, I put together a large index card for each family with all of the times - shows etc and a this is the park we would be at the first couple of days. The first day everyone stuck together at MGM and then dinner that night. After that it was a nice mix, we used our cell phones alot. There was always at least 1 cell phone per group so as people did different things they would call later and hook up. I had dinner Ps's for each day except one, the agreement was if anyone did not want to go just to give me a call a half hour before so we could adjust the ps. By the end of the week everyone was feeling more comfortable and ventured out on their own more. Another nice thing is if one group wanted to get up early they did, then when the rest would get up they would just call to find out where everyone was and if they were going to meet up. It helped that the crowds were low and buses were running often.

Our 2 bedroom was a dedicated with 1 Queen and a pull out couch...Our DD11 slept on the pull out and didn't mind the mattress.
