Just back from a wonderful BCV stay. I wanted to post here and let everyone know that we had a great, clean room that was in perfect order. We also met great cast members and even saw the famous ALLIGATOR in the canal! Stormalong Bay was wonderful and every night when it closed down and all the kids got out, the little pack of local ducks got in -- so cute! We feel that you can't beat this place in the summertime when it is too hot to do much park-hopping.
I arrived at the resort about 1pm and the nice young man at the desk assigned me to a room. I casually said "Now this is not a handicapped room, is it?" (because my requests were N/S with tub) and he said "Well, actually it is, but all that means is that the tub will have a bar in it..." I basically took a deep breath and informed him that not only would the room NOT have a tub, but perhaps not a closet, either, nor counter space of any kind. I also told him that while those rooms were probably fine for a solo traveler or even a couple, for a family of 4, for 8 nights it was NOT acceptable and it would be on HIS conscience when I murdered one of my family members! At this point I guess he realized he was dealing with a nutcase and he said "I'll move you!" I really appreciated this and it made me more convinced than ever that the earlier you check in, the better.
There is a real joy in getting a "perfect room," even after having to battle for it... We were in #427, a lovely studio near the elevator but not next to it (people here have mentioned bad noises) with a nice balcony with a garden view. The room was FRIGID and I had to actually make the A/C hotter, and everything in the room was clean and nice. The bedding was not new but we did see rooms getting new bedding throughout the week. A friend loaned me a twin Aerobed and I was very comfy on that. It fit at the foot of the pullout couch where we put my teeny little 85-pound daughter. Dad and son took the bed and we were all happy.
We pool-hopped to Boardwalk (Ian wanted to do the Scary Clown slide), Polynesian and even OKW. The guy at the towel window looked at my room key and said "You are staying at BCV and pool-hopping here?" but I told him we always visit OKW! The kids love the slide there, and we had Mickey Head bars and enjoyed the afternoon. We walked into Epcot a few times and did the MK once, but in the summer we mostly just swim and relax because it is so hot.
We walked over to Boardwalk late one evening and had so much fun just looking around. The lobby of the Inn is full of old Jersey Shore memorablilia and we enjoyed it as we are Jersey folks originally. My daughter and I rode the boat to MGM one morning just to enjoy the ride while the boys slept in. We also had fun feeding bread to the zillions of local ducks. We saw lots of lizards and bunnies. The alligator was out on two consecutive days and always attracted gawkers.
I am so glad we own our points at BCV so we can visit there regularly!
