Got home on Saturday from 9 days at AKL Deluxe Savannah Room 5270 and 5205. Trip got off to a rocky start and we were ready to leave the resort and stay off property but it did end up working out.

First room was 5270. We asked for a room on the initial reservation, by the elevator and close to restaurants because of my husband's MS. We were told this was the closest they could put us and our room was not ready until 4:30( We never know from one day to the next if he is going to have a good day or bad day in terms of his ability to walk.) We got just the opposite of our request. We also asked for a refrigerator(we wanted to pay for it, not for free)- never got it- my husband's medicine needed refrigerated. Also found hairs on all of the pillows.

Complained to desk staff next day and were promptly moved to 5205- off the lobby. Perfect!!!! Also gave us a % off the room for the night before.

5205 had great view of all animals, except zebra- had to go to the Arusha Rock for that but not a big deal.

Would be happy to answer any questions anyone has......

Hello Laura. Sorry your vaction had a rocky start. Did you ever get your refrigerator? If not, did they tell you why they could not get one to you? Glad to hear that your second room was much better. We are going to WDW in December. Origianlly we were planning on staying at AKL, but when other family members decided they wanted to go we switched to CBR so that we would all be in one location. Would you still recommend the AKL overall? Hope the rest of your trip was great. :D

Hi.... sorry about your 1st room, too far down the trail!

I am assuming you were looking on the Sunset Savanna so you saw Ostriches? Glad everything worked out and you enjoyed your stay.

Oh, yes!!! We saw them all the time!! I think my daughter used a whole roll of film just on them!!! And the new room had a perfect view!!!!!

We did get a refrigerator in the second room but they never told me why I didn't get one in the first room.

The lodge was beautiful and we had a good time but it wasn't for us. We did not like Boma's (please don't kill me for saying that) and thought the selection of food at Mara was weak. At the other resorts, the selection in the food court and "grab and go" was much better (we have stayed at the All- Stars, Port Orleans- Riverside and FQ, Polynesian, and CBR). We do not regret the choice to stay there because we did want to try it but for us, the Poly was much better. They do have alot of activities for children that my DD enjoyed-even though she is 13- and the staff was very friendly but the resort just is not for us.

I think that is why I like Disney so much...because of the choices and types of resorts they offer. Hey, my brother LOVED AKL and hated the Poly. Oh well, that's what makes the world go around!!!!
