Ok, all you negative people out their, who have been trashing the Poly and I’ll admit I had second thoughts about booking this resort because of you people. But just to let you know, the Poly was GREAT! No problems at all. I think maybe some people are setting their expectations a little too high and when they aren’t met, well they get disappointed. Stayed in the Hawaiian Building room 3511. Great view. Anyway you people who are planning to stay their don’t let a few negative reviews effect your decision. Just go for it

4 More Days until our Poly trip. Thanks for the update!

I'm so glad to hear this! :goodvibes We are going in early May. It seems that the threads run in cycles. I remember in the past when it seemed like everything about the Poly was negative and then it stopped. Lately, it has swung back that way. :confused3 Since you stayed in the Hawaii building, I'm assuming you were concierge? How was it? I'm glad you had a good experience! :)

jlrose! We've never had a negative experience at the Poly. It's our favorite resort. I think it's fine to read up on everyone's opinions on these boards, but you have to keep in mind that at some point there will be a negative post about all of the resorts - everyone has different likes, dislikes, expectations, etc. I even posted a negative thread about WL - we had a not-so-great experience our first (and last I might add) time staying there. However, most people on these boards love Wilderness Lodge. I would even go so far as to say it's the favorite. Point being someone else's trash could be your treasure.

So glad to hear you had a great time at the Poly. This will be our first time staying at the Poly, and we're really looking forward to it. We've wanted to stay there for years.

I'm glad you had a great time. I love the Poly. I was there twice with my family in the 70s when the only options were the Poly or CR and on my last trip it was the only place I wanted to stay. I'll never get over the feeling when I walk into the GCH!! :flower:

luvmk,

Very good. Only had one mishap, but was fix very quickly and the staff did thier best to right the wrong. When your thier say hello to Rosie the bartender at the Barfoot Bar. very nice lady, has been working at the Poly for 26 years.

PS. Try the Funky Monkey (wheeeeww)

Sometimes bad things do happen. It is good to know the good and the bad. I am glad nothing happend to put a damper your trip. :)

Jlrose,

Welcome home and thanks for the report. Any photos from your stay?

Every time I have gone there have been bad reviews before and after and I never saw any problems when I was there.

I still have the coconut cup from the Funky Monkey but I called it monkey brains.

Aloha

Steve

Glad to hear a good report. Sometimes I think posts here and Tikiman's site (GREAT JOB Steve) creates expectations that are so high that some guests are bound to be disappointed.

hey tikiman..

just curious.. i have stayed at the hawaii conc many times and love it.. just wondering if the other conc building tonga? allows for 6people to stay.. and also, do they offer as many offerings food wise as the hawaii building..

thanks for your help.. and great site by the way..

Tikiman,

YEP!!! have mine. My brother has a Tikki bar by his pool. It will be on display thier with LOTS of good memories.

Great to hear you had such a nice stay. Trying Poly for the very first time in just over 3 weeks. We can't wait!! :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

CoPPER68,

The Tonga suites have rooms that sleep anywhere from 6-10. You get access to the same food and lounge over in Hawaii and you have an added area in the Tonga building with some limited food offerings and its own concierge desk. The Princess suite that sleeps 6 would be cheaper than two concierge rooms.

Aloha

Steve

I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. It is a great resort isn't it? We were just there for 4 nights and it was great as always.

Most people report enjoying their stays there and many fall in love with it as my family did 22 years ago now. It's just when someone posts a negative report it gets lots of attention. All the positive report sink to the next page. There have been a couple of negative reports lately that look as if someone has an agenda. No names but when factually inaccurate things are posted, it makes you wonder! :confused3

Anyway, do you think you will return?

Oh, the mai tais are great , too!

Yes I would, but next trip is GF main building conceige for 7 days.

So glad to hear you had a great time, We're booked in the hawaii longhouse in july and I was a little worried after all the bad post! Just can't wait to get there to decied for myself.

So glad you had a great trip! My son keeps asking to stay at the resort with the "animals" (AKL) and the "volcano pool" (guess which one? :sunny: ). I want GF RPC so we might have to negotiate...a few days at AKL, a few days at GF, and a few days at the Poly.

Aloha!
