We had a wonderful stay at both resorts.

This is our 3rd time at the WL, and we grow more attached to it each time! We were at the WL for 9 nights. They upgraded us from a woodsview to an inner courtyard view. We could see the MK fireworks (the top half) and the EWP everynight, and had a great view of the pool (room 4151). My DSIL's family also booked a woodsview room and got an outer courtyard room almost across the hall from us (4160 and 4162). They had connecting rooms due to having 3 small children. At check-in they told my DSIL that she wasn't getting the connecting rooms or a room near us, but they worked very hard to find us everything we wanted. We were lucky that both families (hers and mine) arrived and checked in at the same time.

We had dinner and lunch at the WCC. Everyone had lots of fun there and we all loved the food! My daughter got her caricature done in the lobby - she gets one done each time she is there. It came out cute. As a side note...if you want to get one done, make sure you sign up. There were some older children in tears because they didn't realize they should sign up and it got booked by 8:00 pm for the entire night. Their parents were asking all the other kids' parents to give up their time slots so their kids could take their time slot :-(

The pool was heated (thank goodness since it was only in the low 70's some days), and crowded, but we didn't mind too much. The kids all loved the slide (except my scardey-cat DS). I loved the slide!

The transportation was wonderful for the most part. For the first 4 days we were there, the bus or boat was there waiting for us. The CM"s were very friendly and helpful. I used the WL->MK bus one night after Specto, but I think the boat may have been faster.

Roaring Forks was fine, but it really needs to rethink its placement of the cash register. People are at a standstill, trying to get donuts and milk because they are waiting for other people to pay for their breakfasts.

I did laundry there one Saturday afternoon while it was lightly sprinkling. Had no problems getting a machine.

The kids spent every afternoon in the pool or playing on the beach.

I loved watching the EWP from my balcony, but I went down to the dock with my family to see it one night. It's much nicer at the boat dock (from the balcony I missed some of the right-hand side of it).

It was my DS's 6th bday. We noted it on the reservation, but didn't receive anything on the day of his bday which was fine, since we didn't expect anything. And no towel animals, but again, we didn't care.

We moved to the Yacht Club for 3 nights. We stayed in a waterview room on the concierge floor. I loved the spaciousness of the rooms. There was so much storage place (shelves everywhere). Lots of space in the sink area for toiletries. I really noticed the room size difference between the WL and the YC. We loved having the daybed/couch to relax on. Check-in was a breeze up on the 5th floor. We spent the morning at MK and came over to the YC at 1:00 to checkin. The kids and DH enjoyed the goodies in the lounge and watched tv while I checked in. Adam (who checked us in) told me that they bought me a brand new toaster (since I have a wheat allergy), and they bought me gluten-free bread and muffins that would all be in my room when it was ready. During checkin, I told Adam that I needed to find some ritz crackers...my son (the pickiest eater ever!) only eats peanut butter ritz crackers. We bought some on our grocery stop to the WL, but one of the boxes had all broken crackers. So Adam gave me some generic crackers with PB, but my son wouldn't try them. When our room was ready later in the day, we found in it.... the toaster, bread and muffins were there AND 3 BOXES of RITZ CRACKERS!!!
How wonderful!!! They actually went to a grocery store to get my son his crackers!

The view (room 5221) was spectacular...the boardwalk, illuminations, stormalong bay! The room was sooo clean, and it was the cleanest balcony I ever sat on. The outside of the YC look freshly painted. The left hand-side of the YC had plastic wrap of some kind all around it and scaffolding up. I'm sure they didn't put any guests on that side of the YC. Mousekeeping made us small towel animals a few times - my kids got a kick out of them!

My kids loved the pool. My DD, DH and I used the big slide a lot. DS was too scared of it. The only thing I didn't like was the depth of the lazy river. My DD8 can swim but not for long periods of time, so she really couldn't use the lazy river without a tube, but that's ok; the pool is so big we didn't need to use that part. It just took us by surprise. I was swimming with her and we went in the lazy river part and it started to get sooo deep (7 feet) and she tried to grab on to me and I couldn't hold on to her so we both grabbed the side of the pool and pulled our way over to the nearest steps out. The sandy bottom of the pool feels so good on your feet, BUT.... watch out. There are parts that go from 3 1/2 feet to 2 1/2 feet and the sand is gone. I was swimming and hit the shallow-no-sand part and scraped my foot on the bottom. So we learned to watch out for those shallower parts. The kids loved the whirlpool part of the pool (but watch out for the 10 year old boys who try and stay in one spot in the whirlpool); you end up crashing in to them.

Concierge was such a nice treat for us. It was a great way to start your day or grab a late night treat.

I was so happy with the YC transportation. Walking to Epcot was a breeze. The boat to MGM was so easy. And my biggest fear... transportation to MK was the best. The bus only stopped at the BC (the WL bus always stopped at either the GF or FW). It was sooo quick to the MK!!!

I loved the YC so much that I think we'll be staying there next time (although my heart belongs to the WL!)

We ended up our vacation at the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal. Nice pool. But rooms were dark, small and dingy (compared to the YC), and no balconies. But the front of the line privileges and the short walk to Universal make it worthwhile.

Thank you so much for the reviews....they are great!! We are scheduled to stay at WL this December but I would love to do YC...it is just too much money for us. Again thank you.

::MinnieMo Thank you for your review. We will be staying at the Yacht Club in November for 2 nights, then over to the GF for 6 nights. That is interesting that the lazy river is so deep. I have 3 daughters who will be 10(swims well), 6(swims ok) and 2(not swimming yet), so we will need to make sure they stay in their floats. Are there any life jackets available? Also, how long was the walk to Epcot?

ahhh, so you got my room at the the YC?? 5221 I have stayed there several times! It has the BEST view in the world!

Excellent report! Thank you for ther detailed info on the YC concierge. I'm glad you had a great time. I'm really looking forward to seeing my family enjoy our first visit to that resort.
