Just back from 1st trip to the Poly!

MainStreetFireman,

I hope you have a wonderful time at the Wilderness Lodge. It is truly an awesome place. I am still in awe everytime I walk into that lobby.

Oh and you must try AKL one day. We had a wonderful time there as well.

I like your last line about "undiscovered disney." That is really a neat way to think about it.:)

We can't wait to try AP, WCC and RF and a few other places where we have never eaten! AKL will be next, but we might have to squeeze in a Poly trip first just to return home.....

We too just returned from the Poly on 10/19. This was our first trip to a deluxe resort and we were not disappointed. We had read some mixed reviews and had some apprehension but, there was no need to worry. The CM's were great and very helpful. Mousekeeping was very good. Captain Cook's was the best counter service meal we had all week. It can get crowded at peak times but, we never had more than a 5 minute wait to check out. Kona Cafe was the best meal we had all week. Transportation, including Magical Express, monorail and Disney Buses was good. The busses were crowded at times but, there was never more than a 5 minute wait. We had reserved a garden view room and were given room 2226 in Aerotoa, forgive the spelling. We had wanted a balcony near the ceremonial house so I was disappointed initially. We were pleasantly surprised to find we had a view of the marina and the Magic Kingdom fireworks every evening! I will definately try and stay here again when we can afford it.

We went to MNSSHP on 10/16 and had a blast. The crowds were high early in the evening but cleared out after the 2nd parade. Everything was a walk-on after that. I highly recommend the parade.

The only down side to our trip was the Sci Fi.:sad2: We ate there on 10/14 and were disappointed with the food. The service was OK but the meal was not worth the money or our time.

Crowds were good overall until 10/19. We were at Magic Kingdom that afternoon and by 1:30pm you could barely move around in Fantasyland.

Thanks to all for the information on these threads. We used them to help us plan our trip and avoid common pitfalls. We were also able to use a discount code we found here to save some good money on the hotel room.:)

You will love WCC, it is so much fun. RF is good, but I actually liked Captain Cooks better. They seemed to have more of a variety. Haven't done AP yet. We will be returning home to WL this December. It's our 1st time there in December and I can't wait to see it all decorated. But I am definitely thinking about returning to the Poly next summer.:)

About how long of a walk would you say that is to the GCH?

See how risky it is to stay at the Poly - you might just get hooked! Glad you had a great time.

I know what you mean about WL - we love it as well but there is just something about the Poly :wizard:

We just got back from the Poly last night and loved it!!! We actually stayed right below Jasminetigger!!!!!! What a coincidence!! We really loved the location and room and thought everything was great !!! We alos really liked the Capt. Cook's and ate there a couple times.

To everyone going...Have a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

I am glad to hear such a great review! I have not been to the Poly in many years and am returning May, 2008 with my DH and DSs. We requested Tokelau~I hope we get it! It sounds like a fantastic trip~glad it was so wonderful!

We arrive November 1 for 6 nights at the Poly. I have wanted to stay there since I was a little girl, but it's never been in the budget. We had a number of things happern in our family this year (nothing too bad, just things that made us think). DH & I will celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary during our stay. Our kids (ages 4 & 7) are thrilled about staying at a monorail resort. I know they will be spoiled for future trips, which will probably be back at POR where we usually stay.

Sarah..........

I'm so happy to hear about your great experience at the Poly! Our stay in September was very similar and reading your review brought it all back to the front of my mind again. Now if I could just find the time to transfer and print the 400 pictures we took with our digital camera, I'm sure that would "refresh" my memory too....... :flower3:
