Sorry it has taken me a couple days to write but told yall I would.
I walked in the lodge, never seen it before, DW had to check us in while I just looked up in awe. It was amazing! We werent there long enuff to take in every nook and cranny so cant wait to go back. DW( remember she was the reluctant one ) is already figuring out how to use remaining use yr pts to go back.

I have to say it was cold and rainy a couple of days but we trudged on. But what was so nice was we took our time knowing we have 40 yrs to soak it all in.

Had a hoot at WCC 1st night. At most breakfasts in room and saved a considerable amount of money.

DD got picked out of crowd during MGM parade and asked 3 questions about Lilo & Stitch and won a DVD. It probably helped that she had on her bday badges. DS was cheering her on.

Im still a little tired from too short a trip. We learned to stay longer next time and DEFINITELY get a 1 bedroom next time.

I mentioned cold and rain because we have never experienced either on other trips. Word of warning for ourselves: pack extra clothes for any kind of weather, I had to dry our clothes from the drenching we got and we had to blow dry our only pair of shoes.

It was neat seeing all those folks setting by the fireplaces at 11:30 at night just taking it easy and conversing with each other, probably strangers to each other but no more. What a romantic place that our kids loved also.

Bottom line, very pleased with our purchase, cant wait to get back home again.

Jimmy/Tammy,

Welcome back! I'll expect to see some great pictures at our next meet.

I am glad you enjoyed your trip, and WL/VWL. WL lobby is quite a sight when you see it for the first time. Personally, I like the theming of VWL even more than WL, although they are 'sister' themes that work together. For us, cold and rainy is okay because we have the lodge to hang around!

I know this has been asked before, but we are going to make resses for this summer for two studios at WLV. We have not stayed there yet, as our Home is OKW. But we want to try them all! I can't find the post where it talked about the best area to request as far as rooms go. I prefer not to have the" Dumpster View", but I don't know where that area is?? Can someone give me some advice about this. Thanks.....:D

So glad you enjoyed your first trip! The 1 bedroom would have saved you drying the shoes with the hair dryer!:p

Thanks for the report jimmytammy- you've just made me that much more anxious to GET HOME! It also makes me hope for at least one rainy day so I can spend it in front of a fireplace with a good book!

Glad you enjoyed yourselves!

Thanks for the report! We were there on those cold rainy days too....unfortunately not at the Wilderness Lodge where the atmosphere could have warmed us up so well. I'm glad you had a wonderful first trip home.

As far as any "dumpster views" at VWL.....over Thanksgiving we had what might be called that at the far end of the hall (as far from the WL as you can get) but it wasn't dumpsters, it was just a service area where they seem to send out laundry. I had requested a pool view.....but obviously didn't get it. Perhaps a request of "close to the WL lobby" would prevent this.

jimmytammy....thanks for the quick report.

Glad to see that you enjoy your new "home" so much. And if that was your first view of the lobby....then I guess your first impression was pretty neat!!

And I'm always glad when people report about spouses who were reluctant to join DVC suddenly have a change of heart once they actually experience it.

We also agree that we won't be using a studio...hopefully ever...if we can avoid it. I'm sure they're great...better than the regular hotel room, but for us, DVC's "home away from home" feel doesn't kick in until at least a 1BR!

Disney Duo...I gave you my two cents worth of room ressie advice on your thread on that topic.:)

We like studios for quick trips when we just have a few points, but when we plan ahead it is 1BR time. Glad to hear everyone is having fun despite the cold and rain. Hope we have better luck when we go.

jimmytammy---I was at VWL from Dec. 6-14, and I know what you mean about the cold weather and the rain. I also dried our sneakers with the hair dryer the first day it rained, but on Thursday we were absolutely soaked so I dried everything in the clothes dryer on the first floor. We also stayed in a studio, but it was only me and my DH. Glad you enjoyed your first trip home.
