Just Back from 10 days of Free Dining!

Were the parks crowded? Did you have any last minute ADRs? or make any changes?

Where did you eat?? :Pinkbounc What did you have? :Pinkbounc What was your favourite part of the trip??? :goodvibes

It was pretty crowded last week but dropped off considerably on Monday. I was able to walk up to San Angel Inn for lunch on Saturday. Other than that, we stuck to our plans. We had sooo much food. We left with 5 unused TS credits and 11 CS credits (party of 9).

Where did you have your favorite meal, and are there any places you would avoid next time?

Too bad you cant sell those credits...i could surely use them next week. Someday i plan on adding the dining, but for now we just make our ADR's and pay out of pocket.

Free dining (the dining plan) is alot of food. I was going to tease and ask if you were stuffed!!! :teeth:

Did you like San Angel Inn? We have not made it there yet. What was your favorite place to eat? Where did you eat WAY too much???

Can you tell I LOVE food???

TS we ate at:

Garden Grill - very good
Marrakesh - my favorite
50's Prime Time - best dessert
Grand Floridian Cafe - bad experience
Rain Forrest Cafe (AK) - good
Mama Melrose - fair
San Angel Inn - good
Liberty Tree Tavern - very good
Chefs de France - very good
Coral Reef - good

Can you give a review of Coral Reef and Garden Grill. We have them both planned and I'd love to hear your experience with both!!

Thanks

I just wanted to chime in that I LOVE free dining. My scale and my jeans do not though! We gained so much weight during our last trip!! lol

I have ADRs for these for our upcoming trip... could you give reviews? I've Eaten at San Angel and Coral Reef, but it's been 10 years! Heard good and bad and would like a recent opinion. Thanks!

30 days & 4 hours until we're in Orlando and heading to the World!

What was the "best dessert" that you enjoyed at 50's Prime Time?

How long did you wait (if at all) past your ADR time, especially at Coral Reef and CHefs de France? Were the restaurants noticeably busier? What CS did you eat at? What snacks did you have?

Would you please elaborate on the Grand Floridian Cafe bad experience?

To chime in, we just returned and it is A LOT of food! We loved having it all for free though - made it taste even better.

We ate at:

Table Service:
Ohana - Yummy as ever - dessert - bread pudding with bannans foster sauce was amazing!
Coral Reef - Great atmosphere, I do not eat seafood, chicked was average. Chocolate Wave dessert was awesome.
Le Cellier - Best meal of trip. We really enjoyed every bite.
Boma - Did not like this as much, would not return, but good experience and nice to see Animal Kingdom Lodge.
San Angel Inn - For lunch, very good, better than I remembered.

Counter Service:
Pecos Bill (MK) - Good food, large portions, dessert had 48 grams of fat!
Tangerine Cafe (EP) - Favorite counter service meal of trip! Large portions - had the chicken platter and it was tasty!
Rosie's (MGM) - Chicken fingers and fries - just fine.
Main Street Bakery - just bagels, nothing fancy.

Used most of our snack credits on water - but got ice cream one day on Main Street and it was awesome.

Wish I was still there!

I'm trying to lose 5 lbs so I can gain it all back with the free DP! :lmao: Some people go to WDW for rides or shows or to see characters, I go to eat! :rotfl2:

Not to highjack the thread, but if you're the type of person who normally does a table service per day, this plan definitely pays for itself. We usually do a character meal per day and with that usually around $27.99 plus tax and tip, the $36 or so the plan costs equals out. It's like getting a free counter service and snack per day, IMHO. If you're the type of person who does a table service including appetizers and/or desserts, then this is 100% the plan for you.

We spent 8 nights at WDW during free dining last week and managed to rack up $930 in free food for 3 of us. If we would have had to pay for the plan it would have been a little under $700--like getting $200+ in free food and we got to try lots of places we never ate at before.

We ate at the following:
:) Liberty Tree Tavern--Food was delicious, atmosphere left something to be desired since kids behind us were behaving horribly
:) Le Cellier--First timers! Steaks were very tender and DH and I both loved the cream cheese mashed potatoes. Kid next to me was performing acrobatics but parents didn't seem to mind
:) Prime Time Dine In--DH loved his fried chicken and I loved the fried herb cheese. Everything else was just ok. We had a nice family on both sides of us finally
:) Hoop Dee Doo--Always love this show. Food was really good as always
:) Alfredo's--All enjoyed our meals. Wouldn't seat anyone until exactly 12:00 (and we were there 15 minutes early--weird!)
:) Coral Reef--Most flavorful steaks we had. We had to send the steaks back since they came out far from well done--more like medium-rare. For the appetizer we were able to add grilled chicken breast and fried scallops to our caesar salads for no extra charge. The bill at this place alone was $150.

At the risk at sounding stupid and lazy (haven't had a chance to research this) what is the deal with free dining? Prices plans etc.? Is it a full plan with hotels/theme park tickets/free food etc., Thanks for indulging me!

I cna't wait for our free dining!!! I love LeCellier and the best desert to me is the chocolate mouse for the kids and the smore tower. I am bummed aobut Boma we have adr there. If our adr is at 6 23ill we see the animals oncet they are moved from the park?
