At the risk at sounding stupid and lazy (haven't had a chance to research this) what is the deal with free dining? Prices plans etc.? Is it a full plan with hotels/theme park tickets/free food etc., Thanks for indulging me!

Its a special they ran for those who bought their disney packages thru disney and booked before some time in July i believe (or was it june) all your meals and desserts/drinks are free. It is only for travel time for Half of August, and all of Sept. As long as you start the vacation on Sept 30th (like us) you can utilize free dining for 10 days. This special isnt being offered anymore.

You get to do one table service, like Boma or Le Cellier, Coral Reef etc. Youc an order pretty much anything. Each person gets thier own appetizer, drink (even milkshakes or smoothies) and dessert. Anything on the menu (sometimes not sushi) Lots of people find that a dinner for 4 is well over 200.00 for this, but its free.

You get to do one counter service, you pick a meal and a dessert and a drink

You get a snack credit per day, pretty much any "snack" item under 3.99. (so you can get a chocolate pretzel, or a dole whip, or simply a water, whatever you like).

Even at full price this is an awsome deal, and takes the stress and worry out of how much what costs.

We were there the whole last week for free DDP. Can't stop thinking about the food, yummy!! Just want to let you all know that DH gained 4 lbs, DS - 5 lbs, and I didn't do so bad @2lbs. But we cleared all our plates and still managed to down our desserts too.
We booked our summer 07 WDW one day after we got back. This time we added DDP to the package. PRAY FOR ANOTHER FREE DDP PROMOTION TO HAPPEN AGAIN. If not, paying OOP for $38.00 a head is still great bargain for us HEAVY EATERS.

Now that we have had the free dining, when we go again if there is no free dining we're thinking we may purchase the dining plan. We are very "heavy eaters"! lol We love to go out to eat and at Disney to have it all paid for ahead of time is like a dream come true!!!

Disney did a Free Dining Package deal that had to be booked by June 25th and runs from August 13 through Sept. 30th. You get one CS meal, one TS meal and one snack each day of your stay. So, say you're staying for 5 nights....you get 5 snacks, 5 CS and 5 TS per person. You can also purchase the Dining Plan for $38 for adults and $11 children 3-9 for each day of your stay. Considering I budget $50 per person per day for food the cost of the Dining Plan is very well worth it! You get so much food, can eat at finer restaurants and not have the stress of adding up the bill in the end.
You can read more about the plan on Deb Will's site www.allearsnet.com and click on Dining.

I cna't wait for our free dining!!! I love LeCellier and the best desert to me is the chocolate mouse for the kids and the smore tower. I am bummed aobut Boma we have adr there. If our adr is at 6 23ill we see the animals oncet they are moved from the park?

Boma is at Animal Kingdom Lodge, there are animals on the savannahs there, they are not moved from the park. The animals at the animal kingdom park stay there, they are not the same one's at the resort.

Anyway, Boma is great, very very good food!! There are tons of animal viewing areas at the resort that you can see the animals. Have Fun!

I was also at WDW for 9 days with the free dining plan. It was totally unbelievable. We had so much fun eating at all of the different restaurants - by far the best part of our vacation. Here's where we ate:

Table Service:
Chefs de France - Very good. The french onion soup is fantastic. My son had lamb and he said it was great.
O'hana - My favorite meal of the trip. The grilled turkey was the best. Our server recommended dipping it in the peanut sauce and was it good!!
Marakesh - Also very good. I had chicken kabobs, which was very good. My daughter had beef kabobs and said they were also good.
The Plaza at the MK - This was also good. We had hamburgers, chicken sandwich and I think a vegetarian sandwich. We had ice cream sundaes for dessert.
Le Cellier - We were there for dinner and it was excellent. I had the mushroom filet and it was very good. My daughter had the filet in the bar-b-que sauce and she really liked it. My son's girlfriend had the 14 oz. sirloin and was also pleased. She did keep saying after dinner that she could not believe she just ate a 14 oz. steak!!
Sci-Fi Diner - I always like it here. We had a great lunch. We had onion rings, chili, spinich & artichoke dip and the bacon soup as appetizers. All were very good. We had hamburgers and my daughter had a chicken sandwich. Also very good. My daughter and I shared a hot fudge sundae for dessert and it was really good.
Liberty Tee Tavern - We had lunch here. My son and I had the pot roast, which was really good. My daughter had the turkey and she didn't care for her's that much. I think my son's girlfriend had salmon. She said it was good, but it wasn't her favorite meal. The desserts were great, but we were so full and we couldn't finish them.
Chef Mickey's - We had breakfast. I have to say not my favorite meal. I would not go again. The atmosphere is cute, but the food was no where as good as the other table service meals we had. I think the diced potatoes were the best thing I had. I finally had Mickey waffels and they were pretty good!!
Akershus - My son and his girlfriend had lunch there and said it was very good. I don't remember what they had, but they were really happy with their choice that day and were glad they didn't do Chef Mickey's with my daughter and I.

We had counter service meals at Columbia Harbour House, which is always a favorite of ours (we ate there twice); the ABC Commissary, which was very good; Flatbread Grill at MGM, which was good;Seasons at Epcot, which was really good; and Tangierine Cafe for shwarmas, which are always a favorite.

The free dining plan was great and we couldn't believe how much food we got. I have to say we were real careful in not wanting to waste food. If we were full we did not each order dessert and often times we would only order 1 or 2 and share them. We just noticed how much food people were wasting and leaving on their plates and we couldn't stand the thought of throwing away food just because it was free. At Liberty Tree they brought my daughter pot roast when she had ordered turkey and we know that once the food touches the table and is not eaten it is thrown away so my son gave her his turkey and he ate the pot roast instead.

I am so glad everyone liked Le Cellier since I will be eating there the first time in November.

I enjoyed the DDP (didn't get it free but great value anyway) and am getting it in November too. I wish I wasn't a Hearty Eater but I am. I had to diet like crazy cause I did gain weight even with all the walking ... those desserts get me EVERY TIME ... and we did not waste any food!

Thanks for all the quick restaurant updates! :sunny:
