Just got back from an amazing trip!
Had a split stay at the Beach Club and Music.
Just wanted to get my thoughts in about the magic bands and FP+.
I loved the magic bands. My group had lots of problems with them last trip, but they seem to have the kinks worked out (or else we just got randomly lucky). Even better we could wear them while swimming and not have to worry about losing our room keys.
I think Disney should have rolled out magic bands first, then followed later with the FP+. I think there would have been less confusion and they could have focused on fewer things at a time.
Anyway, my conclusions about FP+:
Super convenient when you have a half day at the parks.
One day we did Universal in the morning then WDW at night. This worked wonderfully, having 3 guaranteed rides at MK.
Our departure day was half a day, so once again FP+ worked awesome.
Full days at the parks...we didn't like FP+ near so much.
We tried out the earlier schedule at Epcot one day. We started at 9 with Soarin, then were able to move up our SE for 945, then Mission Space for 1030.
We found a kiosk and all Soarin and TT were gone, so we got Maelstrom for 1.
After Maelstrom the only FP left were for EO and Figment at 4. So kind of a fail for us. We used all our FP early then just had very long waits for the rest of the day.
We felt like FP really affected a few rides wait times. Good examples were SE and GMR. SE used to have significant waits at certain times of the day, this past trip it had over a half hour wait most of the time, same with GMR.
I also wish that you could schedule the 4th FP for a different park on the app. So if you want to park hop and maybe swim or take a nap in between parks, your missing out on available fourth FP because you have to wait until your in the park.
So yeah, my conclusions are mixed. Opening up the fourth FP on the app would really make FP loads better in my opinion. But I do like the magic bands now.
