Hi,
Thought I'd pass on my impressions of this year's trip to Florida. We - my daughter, son and I returned Fri 15 August after 3 weeks staying at the Best Western in Kissimee.
Starting with a negative.. a piece of luggage went missing at Chicago on route to Orlando. My daughter who's 16 thought her world had ended! Fortunately, it came to us 24 hours later - in tact. Our hotel had also undergone a take over. We spent ages looking for the Four Points Sheraton!! Still, the holiday as a whole has been great. The food on the BMI from Manchester was the best ever with a good selection. The United airlines flight from Chicago had plenty of leg room.
Our hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful. We try to do different things each time we go. We discovered the town of Celebration this year. My son discovered fishing and we spent many a lazy moment sitting by the waterfront in the rocking chairs provided. It is a delightful town with a New England feel. A relaxing interlude from the parks. A great place to eat was the Market Street Cafe where we experienced breakfasts, one lunch and dinners. A really pretty place to go. I see they are building a shopping complex for Celebration on the corner of 192 as you turn to Celeb.
We also did the Boggy Creek airboat ride which was exhilarating. I got to sit next to the driver and the site of the alligators was areal bonus as they tend to hide during the day. If you see Chad say Audrey from England said 'hello'!
We bought a ten day world pass and did a good cross section of the parks visting all of them more than once as well as Disney Quest and a character breakfast at Donalds which was amazing. Great photo opportunity though Donald playfully lost his temper when my ten year old stood in front of him prior to a photo being taken. He stamped his web feet and quacked a bit but Josh and him were soon the best of friends.
The malls were visited. Our favorite is the Florida Mall but We didn't particularly like the Mall on the Millenia. Great if you are Posh and Becks but not so good if you are not but others might have a different view.
The weather was good (and rainy) and apparently England was hotter but we had the mouse didn't we?
It's hard to pinpoint why the desire to return is just as strong each year but the mouse and his friends, the weather, the excitment and the food make it our families favorite. Roll on 2004.
Hope you have as much fun as we did.
