Just back from our 4 day trip (8/17-8/20) and I wanted to give some you Dis'ers some info about our experiences with "expired" fast passes.

In the past, we have always collected fast passes pretty easily...sometimes, we wouldn't use them all in the same day, but would use them the next day. Never a problem.

This trip we were told we could not do this. We had quite a few CM's question us if the fast pass was from the previous day. We usually said that we were not able to use them the previous day and we were still able to use them, but we could tell that that they were less than thrilled to let us on the ride with the day old fast pass.

Just thought I would pass on our experiences...seems like the CM's have been told to not let people use "old" fast passes.

Another observation regarding the Toy Story Mania ride--This ride is really in need of a Fast Pass option! The waits are just way too long! Its a great ride we rode it 4 times, but we always had at least a 45 minute wait time.

Was the problem only with FPs that were a day old? What about ones that expired earlier the same day?

I usually just got a new fastpass for the next day, but I wondered about using old fastpasses and just covering up the date with my hand. Good to know.

It was that they were a day old...no problem with same day fast passes at a later time.

I guess I could see a problem if they were really old...like months old passes, but we've never had a problem before if they were a day old. :confused3

No issue with using them later the same day. We did that for the last 5 days with no probs whatsoever.

We aren't supposed to use FPasses from previous days. I have never heard that that is ok. They are only good for one day. It is ok to use one after the posted time on the same day, though.

ive always known cant use them from day befor only same day till park closeing

I agree with Toy Story Mania needing fast passes. I hope it's next on the list.

That is what I was thinking. They are not supposed to be used on any day other than the day they pop out of the machine, so the fact that this was ever allowed was a very lucky fluke and whoever was the recipient of that luck probably can't expect it to continue forever. Sooner or later, the Cast Members would put a stop to it. And I mean, it is easy enough to get another FP on the next day.

I just got back from 6 days at the resort, and I didn't mind the fact that there was no fast pass. I actually wish they would remove fast pass from buzz, as the wait never seems to become overwhelming. I did TSMM about 6 or 7 times, and always had a wait of between 30-45 minute wait, and it was fine. The line moves at a pretty steady pace. The only thing I would've changed, is I would've had Mr. Potato head in a better place so the majority of people in line could get a better view of him during the time in line. One of my new favorite lines, I would wait for it no problem.

I completely agree with everything you just said. Everyone has to understand that adding FP to some rides will actually make the line longer, especially low capacity rides like Nemo and high capacity rides like Pirates or HM and TSMM. Without FP on Buzz I think the line would never reach more than 20 minutes even on the busiest days. For TSMM, the ride was not designed for FP, so adding it would be very difficult. Plus the line moves incredibly quick compared to tons of other rides, making the line more bearable. Another thing to consider is that the "people in high places" at DLR are not so fond of FP compared to WDW. They removed FP machines from 6 or 7 DLR attractions in 03-04 because they weren't necessary and I see them doing the same thing for rides like Buzz, Roger Rabbit, Tower of Terror, and Big Thunder in the future.

I'm with everyone else. You can use FP's from the same day later time, but not if the date is past. I would guess you have just been lucky before.:wizard:

Letting people use day old FP's could really put a crunch in the FP system. There are a finite number of FP's for each day for a reason. Imagine if no one used their FP from the previous day, then tried to use them the next day ... that's twice as many people trying to use the FP system making the lines longer for both standby and FP lines. (OK that is extreme as I am sure that would never happen, but you get my point.):goodvibes

For some reason I thought that TSM has FP at DCA or is that only at Walt Disney World?

There was post recently where the poster was using fp from old trips. Said was all ok. The CM never blinked.

I though it was weird as that isn't the way the system works and you are stealing someone elses time. Only so many fp are released per day per ride.

Exactly.

I'm pretty sure the back of the pass even says it only good for the date issued (which is printed on the front of the pass.)

i think the post about fps being able to be used was the dream fast passes i rember that post

I agree...it was never ok to use day old fastpasses. Only same day, just past the ticket time is ok.

In past trips to DL, we were unable to use some of our FP's for Space Mtn., GRR and Screamin' (every time we went to use our FP, the ride was not operating--kind of frustrating!). A CM told us that we could use the FP the next day-no problem. I was happy to hear that they were willing to honor the FP the next day.

This trip, we had FP's for ToT and Screamin and my son wasn't feeling well, so we went back to the hotel. We asked a CM if we would be able to use them the next day and were told, "no problem". When we tried to use them the next day, we were questioned by the CM's when we used them.

We collect our FP's with every intention of using them the same day, but sometimes this doesn't work out. ;)

Sure, we all know that. Things come up and throw the plans off course. Happens all the time. But I am wondering if the CMs misunderstood you. They might have thought you meant can you use a Fast Pass (in general) the next day on those rides - because all you have to do is go to the machine and get a new one. I imagine that few people would be thinking of using one from the day before because there is no point in it since they are so easy to get. I guess I am a little confused as to why those specific day-old FP's had to be used instead of getting new ones from the FP machine.
