Hello everyone!
We just got back from 8 days in Disney. We took the trip for our first wedding anniversary and went with my parents. We stayed in a timeshare off Disney and rented a car to get around. It was perfect for us!
So we had some fantastic meals around the World!
I don't have access to the photos, but I will post them once they're uploaded.
We had counter services around the parks and they were great. They were better than I had expected. The one that was tasty, but sort of skimpy was the counter service at the Mexican Pavilion in EPCOT. We had lunch a day earlier in the Season's food court and the sandwiches and salads were much better than our mexican dishes. I would recommend eating there.
We had one breakfast out, since we cooked in our kitchen most days. We went to the Whispering Canyon at the WIlderness Lodge. Our server was Cajon Chad and he was a riot. I got my dad to ask for ketchup, so we had about 15 of those on our table. We all ordered the breakfast skillet and it was awesome. The Mickey waffles were so tasty! I would definitely go back there for a breakfast skillet again. We were full and a lot of fun.
We had our dinners at California Grill, Jiko, Marrakesh, ESPN, Blue Zoo and Bistro de Paris. We were supposed to finish off with Narccoossee's, but we couldn't make it and had Earl of Sandwich instead (not fine dining, but they do make a good sandwich!).
California Grill was superb! Everything about our experience was perfect. It was our anniversary, so the table was decorated with the confetti/ We ordered a bottle of wine suggested by the bartender. It was a Syrah by Marquis Philips. Delicious! We all then split the tuna three ways and it was wonderful. After the appetizer, we watched Wishes from outside. Just so relaxing up there and wonderful view! Our dinners were also wonderful. I ordered a soft shell crab dish. It was scrumptious. We were surprised with a triple chocolate slice of cake for our anniversary. It too was delicious. All four of us ate some because it was so rich. Out of all the restaurants we ate at, Cali Grill was our favorite.
Next was Jiko. The atmosphere was so relaxing and soothing after a busy day in the parks. Our server was great and answered all our questions. We ordered a couple of appetizers, which were very tasty (I just can't remember what they were called). My mother and I order the scallop dish. It was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. My dad and DH ordered the short ribs. Everyone was satisfied and happy with their dinner choices. It was also very nice to walk around the Lodge and view the animals.
Marrakesh- this was definitely different after our previous to dining experiences. Being in EPCOT, it was very busy and almost hectic. It didn't bother us much. We had a nice table and our waiter was very pleasant. We had a half carafe of red wine. It was drinkable. Our dinners were pretty good. My dad and I had the new beef couscous dish. It was filled of flavor and very sweet, but the steak was dry. It was still tasty, but I wish the steak had been moister. Mom and DH dinners were good and everyone left satisfied.
ESPN- was exactly as we expected. We had salads and sandwiches. The food was good, but the service was a little lacking. You had to point to exactly what you wanted on the menu for the server to understand. The food was good and we would go back, just hope for a different server.
Blue Zoo- This restaurant was unbelievable. It was so beautiful inside. We had a nice table and our server, Daniel was awesome. He explained the menu so well. I tried the Zootini. It was not a strong martini, but yummy and I was glad to have tried it. My Mom and Dad had the House red wine. It was a great glass of wine and can change all the time. My dad was very pleased with it. DH and I both had the clam chowder for an app. It was the best chowder I have ever had! Being from New England, I have eaten some of the tastiest chowders, but this was far and away the best I had ever had. DH thought so too! My parents had the tuna tartare and they enjoyed that too. They were impressed by how much tuna they got. Dad and DH got the simply fish and they loved it. Mom got the miso glazed fish. SHe enjoyed every bite! I got the tuna dish. It was awesome. I actually couldn't finish mine, so I had it wrapped. I wanted to be able to enjoy it again!
If this restaurant was near to my home, I would have trouble staying away! I will definitely go back there on our next trip to Disney. It is a wonderful place for couples and adults.
Bistro de Paris- This was a wonderful experience. It felt so nice to walk by the chaotic sounding Chef's downstairs and head upstairs to the quiet and very elegant Bistro. The waiters were all in their tuxedos and looked very sharp. We had a wonderful table facing the windows. We ordered a medium bodied bottle of wine. I can't remember the name (I brought the cork home, but can't find it!). We both had the tuna tartare appetizer and it was delicious. My parent's commented on how the portion size was smaller than the one at Blue Zoo, but I still thought it was a decent sized portion.
We then ordered dinner. My parents both had some fish dish, which looked great and they enjoyed them DH had the filet and it came in a little more well done than he had hoped. I could tell he was a little disappointed. I ordered the lobster dish. It was absolutely to die for. I enjoyed every bite! The portion sizes were enough to be filling, but not stuffed. We passed on dessert, but were surprised by another anniversary dessert. It was some fruit around chocolate lettering saying "Happy 1st Anniversary". It was a great surprise ending to a fabulous dinner. I would definitely pay the extra money to eat upstairs at Bistro again.
Well, we finished our week of Disney dining with Earl of Sandwich. They were very good. The sandwiches were not too large, but that was ok with us. We had drinks at the Hole in the Wall, Raglan Road and then got some sandwiches before heading to MK for Spectromagic. I would definitely go back to Earl again. My mom was talking about those sandwiches at the airport on the way home. She wishes she had another for the ride home!
I hope you all enjoyed my review. I will post some of the pictures I took, so keep a look out for those! Let me know if you have any questions about any of the places we dined.
Happy dis-ing!!
