Just got back from WDW, driving to and from IL. AAA marked lots of construction on our trip tik, but all we saw was barrels alongside the roads. Most of it was in southern GA. Some workmen, but not many. If lanes were closed, they went from 3 to 2.
Thanks to the person who tipped us about taking 27 from the turnpike to 192. What a breeze, especially returning. 30 min., no I4.
Beautiful mountains in Tenn. TIP: do not stay just south(Morrow) or just north of Atlanta! Pretty seedy, but can't tell at first.

Glad you had a good drive. We are planning on driving down our next trip to the World. I thought it was interesting about taking 27 to 192. From looking at a map that route circles around disney on the West side instead of I4 on the East side. It sure doesn't look like it would be faster and I think you can drive a little faster on I4. But you said it saved you about 30 minutes huh? Every little bit counts, we might have to try that.

Bill,
I didn't say it SAVED me 30 min., I said it took us 30 min. Not sure how long it would be on I4. I had read this board and lots of people were wanting to avoid I4, so I figure it must be traffic? So I decided to go with the tips I found here. It looked shorter to me, and yes, it was the east side and you don't have to go through Orlando at all. There were a few lights, but it goes straight south to 192, then it was 5 miles to disney. Going back seemed even faster. I was going to go the other way just to time it, but didn't. Maybe someone will let us know how long it takes from the 27 intersection to disney on I4?

Glad you had a safe trip.

When I drove in Dec/Jan. I used 27, too. Loved it. In fact on the way down the Turnpike was backing up even before I got to 27. Turning off on 27 was a relief. I can't imagine what I-4 was like that evening!

Have you heard "Parking Lot"? If you are on I-4 7:30 to 9:30 AM or 3:3 to 6:30 PM forget it.
