Just Back Dinner from at La Hacienda

Actually, my Dos Equis beer was "only" $7.00!

Mole sauce is a brown sauce that contains chocolate (maybe it's cocoa?) and chiles, I believe. It doesn't taste anything like chocolate...just a delicious rich brown sauce. It is not sweet. :thumbsup2

Just an fyi...I just made reservations for dinner for our upcoming Halloween trip ....the confirmation I received states that DDP is not accepted at the restaurant. :upsidedow

Although I love Mexican food I must admit I am not familiar with "mole" sauce, can you describe it??:)

It's a sauce made from moles in the garden:lmao:
Most mexican restaurants have mole sauces there are many different flavors. My fave mexican restaurant has a menu with about 15 different mle sauces:thumbsup2

We spent a lovely day at Epcot today with good weather and very short lines. We were surprised to see La Hacienda open. We were seated at about 5:30, and only half of the tables were taken.

I will be happy to answer any questions, but here's a brief summary.

The restaurant is lovely. The view of illuminations will be outstanding, though we didn't stay long enough to see it this time.

All the employees were very excited. They were a bit green, but their inexperience was far outweighed by their enthousiasm and excellent service. Apparently today was the first day they are open.

The food was excellent, but quite pricey. The portions were large and nicely presented. I wanted to try a margarita, but at $13 each I had to pass, and ordered a beer instead. We ordered a seafood platter for two and the pork tenderloin split between the 3 of us. It was plenty of food. The pork came with beans, rice, and delicious homemade corn tortillas. We left stuffed.

They DO take the Tables in Wonderland card. I used it.

Thanks will have to try. :)

The website is incorrect and they do take DDP. This has been verified by both Guests that have dined there as well as Disney itself in the Disney blog (the Disney blog post even made mention that the website was incorrect).

Glad to see they take TiW!

Me, too! I read DDP as DDE and thought that the TIW is not accepted. We will have the TIW card for our upcoming visit and would like to try the new La Hacienda de San Angel.

I seem to recall that there WAS a vegetarian dish and that I thought about ordering it, but, unfortunately, I can't reacall what it was. Sorry.

The margaritas all sounded really interesting. I really wanted to order one with bluberries, basil, and maybe pomegranate(??), but decided that at $13, it was just too expensive.

I had the blueberry, mango and basil margarita. I was wonderful!!! I thought it went wonderfully with my meal. I shared the seafood meal for 2 with my 16 year old DD. There was so much to it, we couldn't eat it all! I see others say it is expensive, however, for Disney, the prices aren't bad. They do take TIW. My family loved, loved, LOVED it!!! :lovestruc Give it a try! It is a keeper!:thumbsup2

Thanks for passing this along. I made an ADR for December, and thought I would have to pay out of pocket instead of using a Free Dining credit. Good to know I can use one of my credits and pay out of pocket for my meal at the Sci Fi instead!:goodvibes

They definitely take both the Dining Plan and the Tables in Wonderland discount. They confirmed this to me when I was there on opening night.
