Hey all, just back a few days ago from my first solo trip - July 7th -18th at POR. Had a wondeful time and one of the highlights was doing the Keys to the Kingdom Tour.

I went on Monday July 11th for the 9am tour. Got there early of course and we had MK almost to ourselves. The tour started right on time and continued until 1.45pm, so almost 5 hours. My tour was pretty busy with 16 people, and the tour guide was Cory who was excellent.

I won't give away any secrets but I loved every minute of it! It was fascinating and funny too in parts. Lunch at CHH was yummy (first time there, won't be the last) and I sat with Cory and one other solo.

We rode 2 rides - Pirates and HM. I found out the background story of HM so now the ride makes more sense and I see it in a different light.

I would highly recommend this tour. I plan on doing a different one next year, as I think I'm now a tour convert!

Do you need a ticket into the park to do the tour? I have AP, but DH does not. Just curious - I know for some things you don't need admittance to park (DiveQuest).

I just booked my KTTK tour last week...will be going Dec 5. I am very excited, but also dissappointed that I have to do the tour solo as my sister will be entertaining the kids. One thing I was wondering is do you get any kind of confirmation or ticket via the mail??? I wrote down my confirmation # but was not sure if I would recieve anything else.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the KTTK tour. DD (finally) turns 16 in December and we can go on this tour next summer. DH, DS and I are really looking forward to it. If I could ask, what was the adult price? Just curious. We're going to do KTTK in MK and the Sedgeway Tour in EPCOT. ::MinnieMo :earsboy: :earsboy: ::MinnieMo

Disregard my previous post - just answered my own question. Theme park admission is required. Oh well, .......

Admission is required for KTTK.

You don't receive any written confirmation, or any ticket. You simply proceed to the garden area to the left of City Hall (City Hall is on the left as you enter from underneath the train station) and your name should be on the list. Just keep your confirmation number with you so that if there are any problems, you can easily have that to fall back on.

Theme park admission is required, but if you have an AP you can get a discount for the tour for yourself and (I think) up to three additional people.

It was around $60 if I remember correctly. That includes the tour and lunch at Columbia Harbor House.

I did the Segway tour last year, it was a LOT of fun! They are much easier to ride than you'd think.

This is what the Passporters says about KTTK...

"This 4-1/2 hour guided tour of MK gives an overview of the park's highlights, history, and backstage areas, plus linch at teh CHH. The route varies, but usually visits five attractions and two backstage areas (even a peek in the "utilidors"). Offered daily at 8:30, 9:00, and 9:30 am. Guests without reservations can inquire at City Hall, but the tour is very popular and we recommend you book it well in advance. Park admission is required." It also states that it's for age 16 and up and the cost is $58.

Now I have a question... if the tour includes a more thrilling ride than you prefer can you skip the ride and join your party at the end?

Usually it's a "tame" ride - Haunted Mansion & Pirates seem to be the most popular. I THINK I remember hearing ONCE about Splash Mountain, but I'm not sure. Most of the posts I read were HM or PoTC.

Our guide was Matthew and we did HM. (I would've prefered PoTC, but whatcha gonna do?) Matthew was great. The tour is worth every dime, and the meal is a nice way to "recoup" some of the cost. One of the coolest things was hanging around Main Street for about 40 minutes before the park opened (we took the early tour). Got a LOT of GREAT pics!

We did the KTTK tour in 2004. When you check in they have a menu of 6 or 7 items to choose from. You decide before the tour starts. When you get to CCH they have it all set up and ready for you.

As far as rides, we did Pirates, HM and Jungle Cruise.

KTTK is the best $$ I've ever spent at Disney! We loved it, and would do it again in a heartbeat.

We had Jonathan as our tour guide, and he was FANTASTIC!!

I can't remember which discount was cheaper -- Annual Passholder or Disney Visa. The total cost for my DH and myself was under $100.

Loved the tour!

Have any of you found that it takes away the "magic"? I just read a review on allears and I'm slightly afraid that it will make me look at the MK differently. Before you answer, know that I'm a kid a heart who is always desperate to know how things work and how a book ends before I've read it fully (i.e., Harry Potter and the HBP), but once the ending is spoiled, it is NEVER as fun (i.e., again Harry Potter and the HBP).

I actually found that it increased it for me. I found myself looking at aspects of MK differently, but in a good way. The amazing lengths Disney goes to preserve the magic for its guests is magical to me in itself, and knowing a little more about how they do that helped.
